I just continued the logical path why is this situation and opinion in wf and why he is "right" in the context of the game.

Okay, fair enough, I believe I misunderstood. I don’t mind AFK players personally because it just leaves more kills for me which = more fun.

I dislike AFK players ,

i dont mind if they declare something like "Sorry AFK cause of some IRL stuff BRB" then they actually come back and do stuff.

But if you are just sitting there and eating XP without doing S#&$ i will be reporting said person,

I dont care if you are doing less than 1 % damage you are still trying but just standing there?,

I usually give them a warning like "Screenshot taken will be reoprting AFK" then one of three things happen , they start participating or they abort or they stay AFK in which case i report them with screenshots.

I absolutely hate AFK leeches,

I was once helping a new player around for a few days added as friends and everything, provided guidance, advice and basic mods to get started and also helped farm a few things slowly,

The guys asks me to help him level a few weapons in hydron i say ok ,

he then says i will be AFK ,

i ask why? he says "busy" i was so angry! he had become the thing i hated the most , i said i wont be helping him with it, and he removed me from the friend list and left after sharing some expletive and ignoring me.

God damn entitlement on some of these leeches.

If you want to get your weapons maxed quickly, just play a buff frame.

Nukers will nuke quicklier and you aren't leeching.

I've late joined an ESO on Zone 2, the Nuke Mirage had trouble competing with a Saryn, after focussing my roar buffs on her she quickly outdamaged her and my stuff was maxed in two zones.

Sure Limbo is less effort with one roll, Alt + Tab and a couple of keypresses every two minutes, but if you hate playing the game that much you should just press Alt + F4 and do something you enjoy instead.

Just reset your connection for a second - it will force host migration and you'd be able separated from others to finish the mission alone.

DE gradually changed Warframe to be so trivial and boring that large number of players dont even want to actively play it - they just want to collect the rewards. And since the game is so trivial they don't have to play, a single player can do everything while they afk or watch movies on the second screen only checking game once in ~3 min to avoid afk detection.

You forgot the important part :

If you kill with a Warframe spell, 100% of the xp goes to the frame.

If you kill with a weapon, 50% goes to the frame and 50% goes to the weapon.

If someone else in range make a kill, you share 25% of the xp on your frame and 75% divided between your weapons.

Aka, having only weapon equipped and doing nothing next to a friend level it up faster than anything else.

No that was not forgotten:

25% of the amount goes to your Warframe and 75% of the amount is divided evenly among all equipped weapons (18.75% each for four weapons while Arch-gun is summoned through Archgun Deployer, 25% each for three, 37.5% each for two, or the full 75% if only one is equipped).

But yes having a single weapon that we're focusing on does level its own up faster. Or give more focus on that lens.

But realistically people who are working on grinding focus should have all weapons in use carrying an Eidolon lens anyway. So the whole "omg the nukers are stealing mah killz" thing is just silly and indicates a lack of understanding about the game.

Most missions in Warframe are like this by default.

The one min-maxer carries the entire team while the rest of the squad plays normally, but with nothing to do.

Kinda funny that Warframe has problems with both AFK players and squads being carried by one person.

Try for the lato barrel u'll understand...u might even go afk urself a few times.

Bad game design and overgrind fosters this behavior. Until that changes expect it.

I don't mind leeching and leechers. Just a part of the culture the game system has fostered on us. That's just facts. We can't help but be "leeching" when a Saryn (who doesn't really need buffing anyway to nuke 99% of the things) just does a hiss and voila a lot of numbers in the screen pop up.

if people are afk  past x time (5 min iirc?) they dont receive drop rewards and after x time can be kicked

Sadly, this is DE's flawed system. A Hildryn (or old Ember World on Fire) can stand in one spot in something like Hydron and not move at all yet be killing things...and is tagged as AFK by DE's brain dead system. It doesn't take into account the fact you are killing things as being "present" in the game because you didn't move around...and this is the fault of DE in designing abilities that 'passively' kill things. Nerfing these abilities is the 'fix' in DE's mind.

This 'stand and kill' is really different than an 'afk' player that isn't helping at all on the mission but it makes me wonder if I bring a Trinity and energy vampire and bless the entire time and not move if the game marks me as 'afk'...seems like a test is needed....

But to OP point...if someone is leeching (which isn't really 'afk' imo) who cares? You are there for some reason..resources, affinity, something...do the mission and stop worrying that someone else isn't "working" to "help" the mission. People that worry about leeching players often times are the same people that typically insult and complain about 'noobs' that are in need of revivals all the time on some missions.

To me...if a player is "afk" and needs a revive...I do it once...if they drop again and haven't moved at all or said something in chat...I just let them die...if they come back they come back otherwise I just focus on the mission. Sometimes people have IRL issues mid-mission ("My goldfish is drowning...brb" or "Kid spilled milk...brb") and it is real other times it is just cover for 'leeching'...if it takes too long let them die...but in the end just do the mission and move on IMO.

In my opinion, if I was the main dps in ESO and I got pissed off with the afk players, I may just abort the mission then try to look for proper players in the recruit chat.

If I'm not that pissed off, I might complete the wave but not proceed to the next so the leeching ends there.

Try not to burst an artery over this. The afk players are not gonna be affected by your rage at them.

For me I'm the same way as this poster, but I also know ESO is there for either A) you to level weapons and carry people who wish not to play dps or B) for you to get carried if you don't want to play DPS.

ESO is a carry or get carried situation. I usually play EV trin for my friend who carries me a lot, or I'll carry and he'll play speedva for me.

I done that once in ESO, I was Mirage Prime and had 92% dmg between me and 3 others. The guy doing nothing made a sarcastic comment like "Looool, free xp easiest game ever, all i do is limbo dodge whooooo" I think he was fairly new to the game like MR9 or something like that I dont remember exactly. But I just said "Im not boosting you enjoy the game" and left.

Well... 2 minutes later I get a whisper with him saying im a terrible person, this and that etc etc, duel me in my dojo, dueeeellll me!!!! I didn't react and muted him. Only it got worse as it turns out he had quite a few pals on the game, all 9+ of whom whispered me directly, spamming me. So I had to mute them all. One even went as far as to make a new account to bug me on.

Guess I'll just stay silent from now on.

Im sorry and ik this is serious but i died laughing when he said duel me

"Flawed" AFK detection system? AFK is AFK, if you don't need to move or do anything but press a button (i remember old world on fire on ember, the worst) to win, that's a much worse problem than AFK.

General question for anyone who can answer: Why does there seem to be a surge of people who don't understand how shared affinity works?

I've run into a few people who were vocally upset with the Saryn or Volt in Hydron and said that they were trying to level up their gear. A couple of times people tried to explain the shared affinity to them but it should have been obvious.

Because it's BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORNIG.

Well, as much as it is true, as soon as you say to people to "share XP", then, they go in their own corner of the map because they are egoists and want 100% of the xp for themselves. It's not how it works, it's not how any of it works.

"Egoist", now that is just hilarious. I think this is: the pot calling the kettle black.

I wonder if i could get multiple quotes in one post? Propably. Well, next time.

You can. Just use the "quote" button under the text (you can see a grey line between it) or just mark the part you want to qoute and wait 1-2s.

You can also use the "+" button left from "qoute" to quote someone from an different page.

Good job, imitating one of them. I feel like you really captured the sense of vacuous personality, mixed with an inability to actually think one's way out of a paper bag. Well done, Tenno.

In answer to your question, personally I do understand how affinity sharing works, I'm not new to the game, others just don't check the wiki, similarly to people who ask where to farm what material in Region chat, despite not knowing they could check the map itself, as a matter of fact I don't think shared affinity is even explained in the tutorial though I haven't tried the new one. (I'll assume that your comment is directed at me,even otherwise I shall reply with zero hostility) but I shall explain why I said, what I said.
With certain maps on Sanctuary can be fairly "large" well... by an arena standard. Since the affinity range is 50m some Sanctuary maps can be 200m+ wide or long, this can deprive other players of the affinity if you 'nuke' enemies at a faraway location and get their first. Sadly not everyone in this game huddles together like a presidential escort to get shared affinity, since one bullet jump combo can travel you outside that area, others go their own direction sometimes motivated by selfish reasons to "gather all the affinity themselves" as they view themselves as capable enough to do so and again, not understanding shared affinity. Secondly its also fun. Players are not a unified mind that stick together for affinity 75% of the time. Warframe is a fast paced game, with lots of visual effects obscuring vision and distracting players from name templates.

I even played ESO with my friend, we stuck fairly close together most of the time and even communicated. I got 37k focus, he got 19k. That's virtually another round of ESO he wouldn't have had to do to max his focus if we stuck together better. The system isn't perfect, 50m isn't a large distance, players will be players.

Hope that fully answers your question

How about if we just start calling being AFK hate-action? There's zero tolerance to that.

Well, if you can't understand the obvious, what else am i going to do? Or are you just wilfully ignorant? Well, no point in explaining the obvious again, otherwise will be here forever.
