Steel essence drop chance/farm

Question

Recommended Posts

1h survival, nekros alone, all boosters active dropped 6 essence,

before that valkyr 40 min elara surviv 2

last one was vauban and chroma 5000 kills 40 min dropped 2

drop rate is abysmal

groups do better, but if they are not high mastery turns into E.R. where u constantly have to revive someone or their pet

I did a 2 hour infested survival on Venus, Malva, Steel Path with my Khora and stat stick with a resource booster, came out with 16 riven slivers and 48 steel essence which came from 11970 enemies.

It was fun but I felt the essence drop seemed low with a resource booster running.

I might take my smeeta next time to see if that helps.

I was gonna suggest "Disruption missions", just get a "Eximus Enemies" negative effect from 1 of the consoles, let it get destroyed & thus making 60 -70% of the enemies become eximus when they spawn (my guess, idk the actual amount of enemies become eximus), you can farm eximus enemies as much as you want but idk if this method even works.

I had the same thought. I went and tried it, got the eximus wave on the last key of the round, purposefully failed it, and not as many spawns as I had hoped. Might’ve just been because it was on the last wave but idk.

I apologize for not being specific, if you got the Eximus Enemies Negative affect on the last console & it gets destroyed, it counts as a new round & the effect ends instantly. it has to be at least one of the 1st three consoles so the wave is still ongoing.

Just tried this solo in Ur, Uranus (infested DS disruption). Got lucky and had an eximus wave in the 2nd conduit of the first rotation. In 16 minutes of killing with a Valkyr, got 2 riven slivers and no essences. The spawn rate wasn't good, and the eximus spawn was even worse, and the strategy has a serious problem that after some minutes without a new conduit being activated you get a 30s mission timeout warning, so I extracted. This timeout could be bypassed by activating a conduit when the timer starts, but eventually you'll need to complete all the 4 and the eximus wave will end, needing to complete conduits until it appears again, hoping it will be the first conduit of a rotation. In my opinion, not worth at all considering the RNG to get eximus wave VS spawn rate, with the risk of getting a eximus wave only in the 4th conduit. It MIGHT be worth if you keep restarting the mission until you get an eximus wave in the first conduit, then activate a conduit each time you get a timeout warning and extract after the 4th one (maybe check of the 1st conduit of the 2nd rotation is also an eximus).

I had previously gone into a 1-hour Eris DS Survival solo and got 6 essences and 5 riven slivers from 7262 kills (no farming frame, no booster, no smeeta). Also got: 6 Oberon parts, 230k focus with 2 basic lenses, 5000 pustrels and 1700 endo.
Also did a 40min derelict survival solo and the essence+sliver drop was good, but don't remember the ammount. Derelict has no DS drop chance boost, but by the time you get all the essences needed for the shop, you also got enough mutagen samples for the Hema...

Ah okay. Thanks for all the info, I thought maybe Disruption might have been good as I usually run Mars Disruption since the ghouls are quite easy to kill & while the Eximus enemy modifier doesn't affect ghouls (last time I checked) I would get a lot of eximus enemies to a point that I was having trouble defending the other conduits because of all the "Ice eximus enemies" putting up their bubble, I have a feeling that DE changed this upon the launch of Steel Path update.

On a 2h15m Derelict Survival run with Khora and booster I got:

56 Steel Essence and 22 Riven Slivers

After 2h the mobs are over 500 level but still very easy to kill with Khora

While this is good info that derelict survival may be the way to go, it doesn't give accurate results to those who can't afford Resource drop boosters &/or those who don't have the resource drop booster.

Ok I'm just planning ahead here, but does anyone know the best place to farm eximus units (besides an eximus wave sortie mission) and the drop chance for steel essence?

Can you even do Steel Path Sortie?

Speed farm Steel Path Eidolon Teralyst (A Typical run last around 5 minutes). a kill or capture will always drop 1 essence, don't bother proceeding to Gantulyst and Hydrolyst the amount of kill time required for them to drop is not efficient compared to just doing multiple Teralyst runs.

Ideal solo farm, is any survival where you have a build that can do an endurance run while killing a large number of eximus units.

For the first 45 minutes how many enemies you kill is largely irrelevant as eximus spawns will be low but start to ramp up afterwards.

After 90mins you should have got at around 30 (with yellow booster) if solo and killing at a chill pace ~4000-5000 enemies.

Finishing the steep path star chart then doing some endurance runs and your done.

MR doesn't really matter as long as khora is present. Also tell them to stay in a spot where it's covered from enemies fire, and tell them to remove all attack mods on the kavat so they won't actively go out of the camp.

Worth noting for khora, the range needs to be low enough for players to retreive drops from the camp. If the range is too high people would have to walk out of the room. Not only does this risk getting downed, but makes spawns further away.

From my experience....

Smeeta Kavat's Mischief Precept + Tek Assault gives the best Survivability. If you have some way of generating Shields then Shield Gating can also help.

If you use Any Mod from the Hunter's Set like Hunter Munitions.... that will also cause your Pet to Attack..... so its easier said then done.

Who said anything about Farming Kavats ? 😮

"farm kavat" as a noun, which means a smeeta kavat that buff your resource drop with charm in short

A farming kavat could be referred by people who understand as, without any kind of attack mod so it won't go out to seek enemies, distracting their path to the farming position, or dying outside

I think you're a bit confused. I used a Resource Booster which doubles the drops and not the Drop Chance one. So the result is accurate and without the booster I would get half the drops.

I was referring to the Drop booster not the Drop chance booster.

there are a few places where eximus always spawn, but drop rates are really low, so by the time it takes for them to drop 1, you could just complete a planet and get tenshin to gift you 2 as reward.
if experience from previous updates has teached us something is don't waste time chasing that purple unicorn, the drop rates will be probably buffed
