The Golden Spire (OOC, Character Listing)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

The Golden Spire, an Orokin tower on Lua rumored to be the home of a powerful Archimedian during the height of the empire. Legends abound about the fate of its owner, Miriam Tanis whose children were lost aboard the Zarimman Ten Zero.

Some claim she went mad with grief, and blamed the Orokin for their loss, inciting a rebellion at the Tower of Altra, only to be executed for her treason.

Others claim she chose to become a Cephalon to escape her grief, and persist to this day, archiving data in some forgotten terminal, unwilling to return to the world of the living.

A handful claim she roams Lua as a disembodied spirit, watching over the empty somatic pods of the Tenno, forever searching for her lost children.

Whatever fate befell it’s original owner the Tower is now occupied by the enigmatic House Tanis, a group of artificers, artisans’ and researchers dedicated to bringing back the glory of the Orokin Empire one sculpture at a time. Their finest works adorn the lobbies of Corpus and Tenno alike, and they are well known for breathing life into ancient wonders.

Those willing to risk life and limb exploring the crumbling depths of Lua will find House Tanis offers more than fair price for any recovered relics, especially those that might shed light on their namesake’s fate.

Within the tower lie two shops ready to equip would be adventurers with the gear they need to survive the Lunar Depths.

Morrison’s Masks and Filters offers a variety of safety gear for those without access to Warframes, and a selection of exploration themed mods for the Tenno.

Alarik’s Arsenal offers a selection of weapons and tools for the eager adventurer, from simple rock climbing picks to heavy mining gear, as well as advice on what dangers may await.

Once one is prepared they can speak to Seven, a former resident of Fortuna, to be granted access to the Lunar Depths and begin their adventure.

Those who wish to know more about the enigmatic House Tanis, and their work, may consult one of their many Artisans.

———

This is the OOC for my soon-to-be-posted Golden Spire roleplay thread. The goal is to recapture some of the fun myself and others had with the, now dead, Synergy threads on a smaller, and hopefully more sustainable, scale.

Rules:

1. Non-canon items, abilities, organizations etc must be approved prior to entry. If you think it might be non-canon just ask if it’s allowed.

2. God-Modding is not allowed. The Lunar Depths are a dangerous place, even for Tenno. There is a reason the relics are valuable after all. Warframe abilities may make certain challenges trivial, but others will require a sharp eye, or a clever mind.

3. No violence in the Safe areas. House Tanis employs several Tenno as security and the Tower’s Neural sentry has been rewired to help subdue instigators.

3a. However once your team or character is in the Depths you are fair game for any sort of treachery.

3b. I’ll generally leave PVP interactions up to the players but if someone begins using this to go on a murder spree I will step in to stop it. While there are bound to be “accidents” and disagreements, the Depths are not a place to settle scores (unless agreed upon by the players ahead of time).

How to begin: Post your character bio here and then post how they arrive in the thread. If your character is approved I will respond with a post deserving the entryway. If not I will message about what needs to be changed. Once you are in feel free to interact with other players.

Once you are ready to venture into the depths simply have your character introduce themselves to Seven, along with a description of your equipment. You will be limited to this equipment once inside the Depths. If you need to result or forget something you will need to return to the Spire to obtain it.

Clarification for those who role played in a Synergy thread:

This thread is separate from my Synergy threads and considers them non-canon. However any of your characters from those threads are welcome to show up here.

I've heard good things about the Synergy threads, but they were long before I got on these forums.

Any specific information or format you want on a character sheet?

@Rakawan
You didn't respond, so here's a character sheet anyway 😛

Name: Anak (whether this is her first or last name, or even her real name, is unclear)
Race: Grineer, Heavy Gunner strain, Arson Eximus
Age: Appears to be in early 20s by human standards, but precise age is unclear

Appearance:

Spoiler

Physical Build: Standard heavy gunner eximus.  3 meters tall, lanky, lean yet muscular.

Facial Features: Normal for a grineer.  Blotchy skin with pretty much every human shade on it.  Left eye is a very pale green, right eye has been replaced by an implant.  Straight black hair, short and greasy yet fuzzy.  Hates when people scruffle it.

Clothing: Standard heavy gunner arson eximus.  Orange armor.

Personality:

Spoiler

--> Although Anak is perfectly able to interact socially with other people, it is firmly outside her comfort zone and she would prefer to avoid it.  She doesn't talk much, but when she does, she seems completely normal and has become adept at hiding her discomfort in social situations.  (In real life, Anak might be recognized as slightly autistic.)

--> Able to focus very single-mindedly on a goal, but has difficulty doing so if the goal is imposed on her by someone else.

--> Doesn't like having to rely on other people, or being in a position of responsibility with other people relying on her.

--> Prefers peace and quiet to the alternatives.

--> Besides a slight Grineer accent, Anak is quite fluent in Orokin English, but might shift back to her native language when alone or when agitated.

Backstory:

Spoiler

What better luck could a Grineer clone have?  Strong, healthy, intelligent, of the favored sex, and endowed with the arcane power of an Eximus.  One could do very well with such genes.

And she did.

What Grineer clone wouldn't want to be a high-ranking officer in the Drekar corps?  Who wouldn't want such an important job as overseeing a data-storage facility full of cloning sequences?  Who wouldn't want such a position of power?  What Grineer clone wouldn't want to serve the Queens?

She didn't.  So she left.

Anak has traveled across the system, learned the ways of money and self-sufficiency in Fortuna, learned the ways of calm focus in Cetus beneath the Unum, learned the ways of freedom and of the forest in Iron Wake... But she hasn't found peace.  And she needs to make a few credits.

Equipment:

Spoiler

sheev: Standard-issue Grineer knife, unmodified.  More of a tool than a weapon.

kitgun: gaze-lovetap-splat.  Basically a high-powered laser cutter.  Also more of a tool than a weapon.

Eximus ability: Anak does not carry a proper weapon, instead relying on her firebending eximus ability, even though her size allows her to fire even large weapons such as the quellor one-handed.  Besides the unfocused fire blast of fear or anger, Anak can, when calm, use her eximus ability in more refined and focused ways, such as throwing fireballs at distant targets or cooking food with her bare hands.

Floater:

Spoiler

Floater started out as a sensor regulator that Anak took with her when she defected.  Since then, Anak has added a modified harpak that acts as both a weapon and a grappling hook (and could potentially be the basis for a rope harness system), custom combat avionics that allow the harpak to be used (originally from an osprey, and the source of endless software compatibility problems), and improved data storage (a not-insignificant portion of which is now devoted to porn uhhhh, classified material).  Floater's visual sensory equipment can be routed to Anak's ocular implant, giving her excellent, if somewhat unreliable, augmented vision.  Floater does not have a proper AI or any personality of its own, except that Anak has programmed it to address her as "Sinker" (cuz floater and sinker, right?  not funny?  okay, sorry then).

My apologies.

Looks good so far. I do want this thread to he somewhat family friendly so as long as the... ahem... “classified” material remains classified I don’t anticipate any problems.

Feel free to respond to the “Arrival” post.

This is here so Anak can get really touchy about people accessing Floater's data, and also to reinforce her character as a lonely person with the misguided belief that they can only be alone.
(Also because I find the idea of a grineer looking at "classified material" to be absurd and silly, and also I was writing this late at night when I should probably have been sleeping.  oh well. 🙃)
