"Thank you, Caretaker." She turns to her vulpaphyla and back to the drone. "It's okay if you want him muzzled, I understand. I'll make sure he's on his best behavior as well."

Salem waits patiently and once the Kavat is muzzled the drone turns and leads you into the hallway. The walls look like the retractable sort used in Orokin towers to conceal laser traps.

“Ignore the defenses.” Salem says. “We have had a few... unwelcome visitors in the past. Not to worry though, you will find security here is top notch. Why, we even have one of your kin serving as a security advisor.”

The hallway opens to reveal a circular room with a large beam of light in the center and four other doors, with various alcoves between them. Men and women in gold laced robes hurry from station to station, tinkering with widgets whose functions cannot be discerned with a simple glance. A Tenno and a corpus looking fellow are standing by one such alcove, deep in discussion.

A man, clad in what you can recognize as an Orokin bathrobe, walks past, mumbling to himself.

“Take a pair of scissors to his suit.” He says. “Show him fashionable. Make him give me a refund. Three crates of prime blueprints for this! Fashionable my rear end! Show that pyramid headed loon who he is messing with.”

A Corpus crewman in A white suit with Orokin styled playing follows him, rolling his eyes. He clutches his rifle a little closer as he notices you, but otherwise passes without incident.

Ryoko stared at you for a second, then shakes his head as if losing an internal argument.

“Yes.” He says. “A pity, but the results of a Sentient outbreak here would be disastrous. While House Tanis does not engage in weapons research, there are several experiments that would prove exceedingly dangerous in the wrong hands.”

He rubs his chin.

“However there are rumors that the Depths contain an old Orokin lab dedicated to Sentient research.” He says slowly. “If you could find it, I don’t imagine anyone would object to you taking up residence, assuming you don’t go mad and try to unleash a Sentient apocalypse.”

"Yeah, I do not wanna risk that here" He says rubbing his chin "But If I can find a way 'safely' to the depths, then I'll be happy to head there myself, I am no Tenno, I wish I was, cuz I'd just stroll in with one them fancy mech toys they have" He says with a chuckle, but he also has as slight sigh of disappointment "The things I'd to become a Tenno like person, ah anyway, I'm trailing off"

He clears his mind of such thoughts

"Oh and don't worry about that, unless the Sentients have some kind of Siren that can lure people into their side, then you have nothing to worry about!" He says with a short laugh, he meant that as a joke, or did he? "But no really, I do hope I can afford an escort or something there, last thing I need is to suffer a dumb death"

“You could always contract one of the Sons.” A voice says.

The Steward steps around the Arbiter.

“They are a clan of Tenno who function as mercenaries.” He says. “The Master has recently granted them access to the lower levels to set up a station for those looking for some extra muscle while exploring the Depths.”

“A decision I disagree with.” Ryoko says.

“But nonetheless one you must abide by.” The Steward says.

He turns back to you.

“You can find the Sons on the first floor, inside the room with a Skana over the door.” He says. “I am certain a man of your station can negotiate a contract with them.”

The ride down the gravity lift is uneventful and soon you find yourself standing before an open door with a Skana above it. Inside Tenno of all shapes and types are excavating the rubble inside, while others set up monitors and kiosks in the cleared areas. All are clad in dull gray colors with silver trim. At the center an Excalibur stands, a stylish rapier holstered at his side, barking orders.

“Mayborn, those crates are for unpacking, not sitting, move yourself or I’ll have Clarissa move you.”

A Grendel flashes an offensive gesture as the Excalibur turns away and begins unpacking the crates.

Seven gestures at Kacilius, then at Anak.

”Him, you, me, on a bad day.” He says, chuckling at his own joke. “Class S is anything elated to the Old War. Anything from Orokin Proxies to Warframes, to reverse engineered tech like your Eximus module. Infestation counts too, though most areas classify them as a biological hazard rather than a militant one.”

He shrugs.

“We haven’t seen any Infested down there yet, but you should be fine if you run into any. From what I hear they are terrified of Tenno, and absolutely hate fire.”

"Sounds good. I probably could have brought my Ignis Wraith, but good old fashion lead will work fine. At least I put Wildfire (Nightmare mod, gives +magazine capacity and +heat damage for those wondering) on Stradavar."

Kacilius tilted his head. So Grineer, like Infested are genetic Eximus, while Corpus use modules. Interesting.

"Alright, I think that's everything. I'm ready to head down."

Arrival

The tower gleams in the Lunar light like a golden needle poised to pierce the sky. It’s surface is surprisingly pristine. The reason why quickly becomes apparent upon closer inspection. Crews in ornate environmental suits hang from scaffolds, polishing and repairing the walls.

Five landing pads fan out from the top of the spire, currently unoccupied. Each one leads to a massive door. A pair of corrupted Nullifiers stand guard at each, each flanked by a pair of fusion Moas.

"We're about to land in 3 minutes. Please get ready to embark." The smooth, male cephalon voice informed the Liset's passenger, who stopped delicately trimming the leaves of a small potted plant which had a curious brown-and-white-streaked bark and put it down to the floor. She had been utterly uninvolved with the ship's operations, usually just stating her intent and answering the Cephalon's questions, which then took care of all the technical details and communications with landing sites. It hadn't steered her wrong so far.

As the Wisp hovered her way over to the landing hatch, she took up the arsenal she had laid out earlier for this endeavor: A Sarpa and some Fusilai, matched to her warframe's colors. Towering over them, a Kuva Chakkhurr that she hesitated a moment about - would it not be in the way, given its size and the circumstance that she didn't fully know what awaited her?
She decided to take it, holstering it between her shoulderblades. There was no point in hiding how serious she was about this matter, how important it was to her.

Upon her landing craft's arrival at the appointed pad, she had already taken notice of the exceptionally clean and un-disrepaired structure which was, by all standards she could apply to this system, quite impressive. Not that a dirty, dust-layered floor had worried her much, given her warframe's severed shins were floating about a handspan above ground. She took a minute maybe to take in the sights of the moonscape around the landing area before, in a casual walking pace, advancing towards the only apparent entrance, her synadana trailing lazily behind her.

Seven takes the holopads from both of you and nods to one of the heavily armored Nullifiers. The force field covering the opening recedes, reveal a large cavern with three openings in the far wall.

”Good luck.” Seven calls as you both step through. “Try not to get eaten by a Golden Maw.”

The wisp took a look at both guards, with what could probably be interpreted as a curiously tilted head, as if to prompt them for a reaction that never came. Not that she had anything against the drone. As far as proxies went, they were pretty little things. She looked at it from different angles, weaving in the air more-or-less on the spot, to see if there was a mark of House Tanis on it, maybe.

"I'm Vydraixenne, Caretaker." she introduced herself. "And I'm here for the depths, yes. Adventures... well, if they find me? I heard they happen to do that down there." She took a solemn look to the sky. "But I'm in no rush. What a location, really. I'd love to see more."

Anak considered for a moment.

To the left, a tunnel went down, towards things buried deep, things intended to be hidden.  Riches, or monsters.  Artifacts would be hard to find down there, but at least there would be less distance to fall... as if that mattered.

In the middle, a tunnel went up, towards the surface.  The surface would be exposed to space, anyone could land and take what they saw.  The surface would probably be stripped of anything valuable, and full of Grineer and Corpus patrols.

The tunnel on the right was level.  Deep enough that passerby might leave the tunnels unditurbed, but not too deep, so that artifacts would be less likely to be hidden behind ancient security systems or kilometers of solid rock.  Probably the best bet.

"Right," she said.  "I'm thinking right.  Or down.  Definitely not up."
Her drone floated out in front of her, peering down the tunnel as she switched her ocular implant to show her the drone's vision.

Sam glances at the Platinum and then at Anak. She leans in.

“You didn’t hear this from me.” She said “but...”

”....When you go through the breach there is a tunnel on the right.” She whispers. About halfway down you’ll find a boulder. There is a crawl space behind it. It leads to a particularly treacherous patch of ground. I’m talking rocks that crumble the moment you look at them. No one has every made it across but a few people say they could see something glimmering at the end. Something gold.”

She stands back up.

”Anything else I can get you?” She asks.

Ah, right. Something golden at the end of a tunnel halfway between this tunnel. Kacilius felt around until he found the crawlspace. Now should I let Anak know about it? Anak was far enough for Kacilius to slip behind the boulder without her noticing...

“Vydrix.... Vydrax.... mind if I just cal you Vydra?” Haleen asks. “And as for looking around, well that’s why I’m here. Follow me!”

The Drone, free if any discerning marks, darts into the hallway.

“Ignore the hidden lasers in the walls, they’ll only activate if you are an enemy.” She says. “Visitors like you are completely safe!”

The tunnel continues as far as the eye can see. The rock appears pretty solid. At the very edge of your vision the tunnel seems to split, one branches continuing on and curving slightly to the left, the other opening directly to the right. A strange silver light gleams from the right branch.

A giggle accompanied the Tenno's favorable reply:
"I don't, in fact. That's fine."
Almost noone called her by her full name. Yet she just found the results too interesting to stop introducing herself as such. Not that she expected anything bad from someone who's job it apparently was to take care of visitors.

She followed the drone just as quietly, looking around alot, especially towards the high rafters and ceilings. She virtually felt how ancient some of her surroundings were, the ages clung to it like dust that itched the nose that her warframe didn't have.
"Very classic. Has refurbishing it after the old style been difficult?"

Looking through the crawl space reveals a large expanse filled with rocks that are, apparently, floating under their own power. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, none of them “crumble the moment you look at them” leaving their integrity and safety in question. It seems highly unlikely that all of them are safe, but there are no markings, or at least none visible to the naked eye, that distinguish which are unstable.

“I am told the Tower was sealed after the disappearance of its Mistress.” Haleen says. “As such very little effort was needed to restore the upper levels. The lower floors required some excavation but overall very little refurbishing was actually necessary. The primary issue was reprogramming the Neural Sentry’s precepts.”

On the center of the ceiling, above the beam of light, is what appears to be a map of a strange constellation. Further investigation, however, reveals it to be a holographic map of the concourse, the twinkling lights representing the various artisans and occupants of the tower. Three of these lights glow so brightly they nearly overshadow the rest. One seems to mirror your movements.

Once she had discovered the curious visualisations atop and their curious property relating to her, it was hard for her to take the eyes off it. To not have to crane her neck back all the time, she started levitating on her back like a swimmer, facing the ceiling easily. That didn't mean however that she was completely spellbound, and looked to the left and right now and then as she had done on her way in.
"Oooh, that explains the condition!" she agreed with Haleen's explantion, sounding quite happy. "How really fortunate. You've made this quite homely. Where are we going to?"

One of the three bright dots, the only other one in the concourse, flares and then vanishes. You can feel a pulse of Void energy nearby.
