Why De Will Never Make Stealth Work

It is actually still possible. Easy is another thing though. Tons of mechanics would have to be implemented and there would need to be an own gamemode (Infiltrate behind enemy lines?).

Maybe. I mean, the best combination of stealth with non stealth possibilities that I have personally seen was Deus Ex: Human Revolution. But it would take a lot for Warframe to compare, namely a full map system overhaul to add in secondary+tertiary hidden routes (as in ventilation shafts that you aren't required to go through but take you to the same place) with multiple way to progress to the next map section.

If Warframe wants stealth than they could attempt to create a brand new Mission type for it. It'd need unique situations and controls. Like instead of run & gun shootin' crackhead mode you get a more methodical, tactical moveset. Perhaps the Tenno's guns were disabled in the mission lore and he/she needs to move silently with a team to assassinate enemies and accomplish objectives?

You'd get different moves like wall-clinging and wallhugging. New acrobatics. More stealthy.

They can start by making hallways wider, adding more alternate routes and reducing the number of enemies in a given area. They have the groundwork laid for a classic Metal Gear Solid mechanic where you stay undetected as long as you stay out of line of sight and far away. Also I could see the reward system giving huge XP and cash/loot dumps for people who can make it through a level without ever being spotted or killing anyone.

If weapons are disabled, then what is the point of the stealth weapons?

Judging from the mainstream of stealth games like MGS, Splinter cell, and Dishonored - DE should stick to what Warframe best delivered : Mayhem. While the game definitely call itself "space ninja", there is no basic mechanic for stealth game in place within the game (crouch doesn't count). Massive amount of mechanics must be implemented in order to make Warframe a medicre stealth game (LOS, hearing, other senses, alert system, actual stealth kill, alternate paths through the map, alternate way of killing boss in stealth mode, non-lethal takedown, etc). Not counting more mods and different EXP/reward model for stealth play and coop mode for stealth (freaking impossible).

Judging from DE's pace of development, it will be a very long time before all of this happen.

It doesn't have to be a perfect stealth game. If they implemented darkness having an effect on visibility and allowed players to cut the power in a section, it would be possible for them to do what they have to do without getting spotted.

At the moment, the greatest issues with stealth mode is that enemy instincts are, primarily, to raise the alarm. And it's virtually impossible to get to them before they raise it. Hell, even their own gunfire puts enemies on alert.

But if you don't want to dumb down the AI too much, best option you have is to give more options to the Tenno. Cut the power, infect the system so they take longer to raise an alarm, alternate pathways so you can get to the consoles and booby trap them before getting to work, etc.
