Downed Phase Jackal Vs Puncture Equiped Weapon

Just did a solo run and took out its leg to drop it and then switched to its body to do damage, but that made my Soma equipped with Shred hit its shield in stead of armour, so it took no damage at all.  Had to switch to my Kunia to actually do armour damage to it during the downed phase

 

edit: or maybe not tried again and same thing without shred equipped

 

First time around I had:

 

Piercing hit / Vital sense / Wild Fire / Point strike / Serration / Split chamber / Ammo Drum / Shred 

 

Second:

 

Piercing hit / Vital sense / Hammer shot / Point strike / Serration / Split chamber / Ammo Drum / Cryo Rounds
