Heart of Deimos: Update 29 is live!

8/26/2020 Status Update:

Heart of Deimos: Update 29 has officially passed Cert and will be launching tomorrow, Thursday, August 27th around 11 AM ET! You will be visited by Red Text to start the countdown to Deimos. Learn more about the update here: https://www.warframe.com/deimos

The hotfixes that have been released since PC, PS4, and XB1 launched on Tuesday will also be included in tomorrow's launch. So our Nintenno can enjoy the fixed bugs and changes made alongside the rest of the community!

Also a reminder that the size of the Heart of Deimos update will bring Warframe over the base memory allowance on Nintendo Switch. More details on that are available below.

See you tomorrow, Tenno! Mother is excited to meet you.

=============

8/25/2020 Status Update:

Checking in now that PC, XB1, and PS4 have launched Heart of Deimos - We are still pending in Cert. We will let you know as soon as we have cleared for launch. Thank you!

Edit: More information available here for our Nintendo Switch Tenno who are participating in the TennoGen Prex Card Drops:

=============

8/24/2020 Status Update:

With the news that Heart of Deimos on PS4 and Xbox One will be launching tomorrow, we are here to give you a status update on where Nintendo Switch is at with its own Cert progress. At this time, we have not heard back about its Cert approval. As a result, Heart of Deimos will be launching sometime later this week on Nintendo Switch and not tomorrow August 25th. We know this is disappointing to hear, but we will be watching for the news to come in and sharing updates with you so that you can pencil in the Heart of Deimos launch in your calendars.

Thank you for your patience!

=============

Heart of Deimos: Update 29 is officially in Cert for Nintendo Switch! Mars’ second moon DEIMOS will soon be revealing itself to you, as the Infested await your arrival in the Cambion Drift and the Entrati in the Necralisk. Prepare for all new enemies, systems, and more!

As we look towards the August 25th simultaneous platform release date, there is a real possibility that the Cert turnaround time and our work from home setups may shift that for Nintendo Switch.  When developing alongside PC, we have to factor in the Cert timeline. Meaning, we need everything from PC to the console build for Cert days in advance. So we took the time necessary to do so, factoring in that certain content/code is required to go through Cert before launch. And while we’ve been working on the update from home, it seemed to have presented some issues specifically with Cert uploading before we were able to send successfully.

All that to say that we are still hopeful and excited for a release on August 25th! It’s not every update that we release simultaneously on all platforms, and while the process to making that date a reality has presented some issues along the way, we maintain our eagerness to get this to you as soon as we can. We will keep you informed as we progress through the Cert process and in either case, once we have passed Cert we will share the news.

Heart of Deimos is a Mainline Update! With all new content for the new Infested landscape and everything that creeps and crawls within it. With mainline updates, as we’ve seen in the past, there is the likely chance that bugs slip through the cracks. We will be actively monitoring once live to remedy any issues that crop up and if they can be hotfixed. Keep in mind that there are certain types of fixes that touch on code that must pass the Cert checklist before we release them on Nintendo Switch - we will keep you informed if we come across bugs where that will be the case.

The total download size for this update is ~ 3.55 GB. This will bring Warframe’s total size to ~ 25.3 GB on Nintendo Switch. For the Tenno out there who have not equipped their Nintendo Switch with an SD card and have no other games downloaded, this update will bring Warframe over the base memory allowance. This means that having additional space installed on your Nintendo Switch is necessary to accept Heart of Deimos: Update 29. You will need to have at least ~ 3.55 GB available on your device in order to begin the download. We know this is not ideal, and we were exploring remastering options but ran into technical issues that require much more consideration and time. As we continue to develop on the platform, reducing the overall size of Warframe to below the base memory allowance is challenging. We thank you for your understanding while we explore options to address for future updates.

Continue your read below to learn more about what else is coming in Heart of Deimos: Update 29.

===========================

Heart of Deimos is in Development for the Nintendo Switch (but you knew that already 😉)! We’re including everything from Update 28.2.1 to the unreleased Heart of Deimos: Update 29 coming August 25th!

This status thread is a bit different from previous as we are aiming for a simultaneous launch of Heart of Deimos on ALL platforms.  For that reason, a full detailed breakdown of all things “Heart of Deimos” is not included here as we continue to work towards its launch. Just more things to look forward to on August 25th! This status thread will however cover the contents of Updates 28.2.1 to the recently released PC mainline Derelict Shift: Update 28.3.0

On the note of PC Update 28.3.0! If you read the patch notes, you’ll know that we have released certain Heart of Deimos “sneak peeks” on PC in advance of its official launch date. To name a few, the Helminth Infirmary visual expansion and changes to the Orokin Derelict, etc. This is so that we can shake out any major technical or core game bugs well in advance before we ship the console build to Cert. In a way this is business as usual (PC launches first, we fix issues, and then submit a polished build into Cert) with the exception that consoles will receive the full systems at once at the launch of Heart of Deimos, instead of in parts like in PC Update 28.3.0.

Speaking of new systems at the launch of Heart of Deimos! We have also just posted a Dev Workshop covering The Helminth System and what you can expect of this new (hungry) expansion in your Orbiter.

With all that said! Once we have sent the build to Cert we will update this thread with the news and include the total download size so that you have time to manage space if needed.

CONSOLE SPECIFIC NOTES

Controller Changes & Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where the controller trigger buttons would behave incorrectly and become temporarily unresponsive.
  • Fixed being unable to go to selected Market items’ details page when the dropdown menu is open with a controller.

THE OROKIN DERELICTS ARE MOVING!
Orokin Derelict Nodes will be finding a new home orbiting Mars and will no longer require Keys to play! All Keys in your Inventory or in-progress in the Foundry will have their Credit and Resource costs refunded, while Nav Coordinates can be sold for extra Credits (see below)! Once Heart of Deimos launches, the Derelict node will become Deimos, along with two new nodes: The Cambion Drift and Necralisk!

This raises the question: What happens to players on the Steel Path? You get a unique Emote and Trophy for each region that you have completed, but if the Derelicts aren’t on the map how will you get these rewards?

The answer is: After Heart of Deimos launches, finishing the Deimos region will give you BOTH the Deimos and Derelict rewards regardless of whether you have previously finished the Derelicts. This way everybody has a chance to finish their entire set, and thematically it respects both areas: the original Derelicts, and the new Deimos landscape.

General Additions:

  • Nav Coordinates will be able to be sold for 25 Credits and Lephantis Nav Coordinates for 500 Credits.

UI Reskins:
Since our Dev Workshops in early 2020, we have made a lot of progress behind the scenes on UI updates and changes. The End-of-Mission re-design is coming, and it adheres to feedback we received as well as our own direction to better showcase your Warframes and your squad’s Warframes!

The Inbox UI:
df2bd39f2945b001e5d9129e0ed59f34.jpg

Numerous generic UI screen will also be updated! Such as the ‘FILTER MODS’ screen, when adding a custom Loc-Pin in a Free-Roam mission, selecting Friends to Batch Remove, etc:

75110f1934e6b0cfccd0b0acabb00dce.png

Zephyr Airburst Changes:

Zephyr’s Airburst Ability will have 2 behaviours based on if you’re HOLDING to cast vs TAP to cast:

  • Zephyr’s Airburst original functionality will soon be activated by HOLDING to cast.
    • Generate a burst of massively dense air that explodes on contact and sends enemies flying. Launch Airbursts into Tornadoes to make them grow.
  • By TAPPING Zephyr’s Airburst, it will soon suck in enemies instead of pushing them away.
  • Increased Airburst projectile speed by 50%.
  • Increased Airburst casting animation speed by 20%.

Trinity Well of Life Changes:

Well of Life now passively heals allies in a radius around the target (base 100 Health per second within 8 meters). Shooting the held target gives extra Health to all allies in range (base 1% of damage dealt to the victim) instead of only the person who made the attack.

Well of Life also no longer increases the Health of the target (this was an old solution to prevent other players from killing the target too fast). Instead it now uses a more modern approach similar to Nyx’s Mind Control where the Damage gets stored and dealt at the end of the Ability.

General Warframe Ability Changes:

  • Increased the Cold Status Effects from 1 to 6 for these Frost Abilities (which brings it back to pre-Status Changes):
    • Freeze (Area of Effect)
    • Ice Wave (slow)
    • Avalanche (slow)
  • Ivara’s Artemis Bow will have 20% Status Chance per projectile. Also slightly tweaked how Status Chance and Multishot are displayed in Arsenal stats.
  • Made Loki's decoy more visible with darker Energy colors and will soon use secondary Energy colors.
  • Tweaked Mag's Greedy Pull to pull over 0.75 seconds (down from 1.0).
  • Wukong’s Iron Staff will have a 100% Damage block.
    • All melee weapons are intended to have perfect blocking after Melee 3.0, Wukong’s staff just slipped through the cracks.

General Changes:

  • Operator Amps damage conversion Arcanes will convert to 98% max so they can always deal a bit of Void Damage.
  • The Defense alarm will soon sound at the start of every Wave in Orokin Defense missions.
  • Added the ‘infinite’ UI symbol to the Zeniths Secondary Fire Punch Through.
  • Increased Jackal Grid Wall damage attack but removed its ability to apply a Status Effect.
  • Added a Parazon spinning Revive animation when Reviving a player with the Parazon equipped.
  • Improvements towards AI pathing flow in Corpus Ship tilesets.
  • Removed unintended dirtiness on the Limbo Limina Collection items.
  • Every squadmate will soon get a single Dojo Pigment drop per enemy killed, rather than 1 player getting 1-4 Pigments.
  • Updated ‘Solaris’ named Dojo decorations to ‘Orb Vallis’.
  • Made a slight boost to the muzzle flash size to improve visibility on Corinth Prime.
  • Cleaned up Melee grip FX across all Prime, Syndicate, Prisma, etc. weapons.
  • Added FX pulses to K-Drive Race points. Also removed a rogue point in one of the Orb Vallis Races.
  • Cleaned up the Lenz FX.

Railjack Fixes:

  • Fixed Projectile Armaments (like Apoc) not gaining the damage bonus from the Hyperstrike Avionic.
  • Fixed Valence Fusion failing between Tier 2 Armaments with a "perfect" stat roll and a Tier 3 Armament with a lesser stat roll.
  • Fixed Client player able to start a Railjack mission after being invited to the Host’s Orbiter.
  • Fixed the "Kill Asteroid Base Commander" POI on Saturn spawning Kosma enemies instead of Gyre enemies.
  • Fixed placeholder text appearing while piloting Railjack with the Tactical Menu open.
  • Fixed Avionics not stacking in the end of mission screen rewards.
  • Fixed being able to open the Orbiter Equipment screen when in the Railjack.

Nightwave Fixes:

  • Fixed the "Venus Miner" Nightwave Act not tracking for Mining done in Deck 12.

FIXES
The full list of fixes will be posted once Heart of Deimos: Update 29 is live but here are some highlights:

  • Fixed The Profit-Taker - Phase 3 Meso I1 Relic reward not being Radiant.
  • Fixed Pax Bolt/Seeker not triggering on equipped Primary Kitguns.
  • Fixed inability to start any previously unlocked Steel Path nodes if there is an active Quest mission on that node.
  • Fixed numerous issues with broken K-Drive Races for Clients such as an inability to start a Race that the Host just completed, no Score being recorded if both Host/Client does the same Race, and Clients initiating the Host’s Race for them when selecting a Race.
  • Fixed the Athodai Alt Fire only draining the Magazine down by 24 Ammo (the default) rather than drain the Magazine to 0 as intended when equipped with Magazine capacity increase Mods.
  • Fixed a location where Drones in the Plains of Eidolon Bounties could get stuck inside a tent.
  • Fixed Diriga and NPCs not shooting Sapping Osprey mines (they will prioritize enemies first though).
  • Fixed the Veratria Blade and Whip skin affecting the reliability of heavy attacks.
  • Fixed enemies in Dropships not counting towards the number of living enemies until they dropped down, causing some spawning counting issues.
  • Fixed regular mission objective markers appearing in the Granum Void.
  • Fixed Vapos enemies and several items introduced in the Gas City remaster missing from the Codex, even though they were shown as scannable. The following will now appear in your Codex:
    • Biogas Barrel
    • Helium Barrel
    • Cable
    • Vector Shield
    • Vapos Detron Ranger
    • Vapos Sniper Ranger
    • Vapos Tech Ranger
    • Vapos Nullfier Ranger
    • Distressed Pipes
  • Etc.

Speaking of Railjack and the Codex @[DE]Danielle, I had some brief questions.

I noticed a long time ago that we can scan our own Sentinels (Though not all Sentinels show their proper name, etc. when looking at them (Separate issue probably)), and with Chroma, his Effigy can be scanned, and it's possible to scan Titania's Razorflies, etc.

So is it possible to include them in the Codex as well, or have a "Tenno" Faction tab to list all the ally NPCs you can scan (Unless they're unaffiliated or clearly a different faction)? I'm sure there's a lot of other scannable things that don't appear in the codex currently, but those are what I can think of off the top of my head that are readily scannable.

Aside from that, I discovered two bugs that may or may not be limited to the Nintendo Switch version:

I hope this information helps! I'm looking forward to the Heart of Deimos when it comes.

I thought of a lot of other things (Including Expanding Operator Customization) by the way, so I can link that here as well if you / anyone else wants to see it. (Didn't want to get too off-topic, so I'm not sure if I should put that here as well in the same post)

If the Heart of Deimos is supposed to come to all platforms on the 25, the updates has to go to cert before thursday otherwhise, it might not come to everyone if cert takes to long...

I don't think it is supposed to be launching on the 25th for us. The only thing that ever launches simultaneously is Nightwave. We probably won't get Heart of Deimos until Late September/early October.

edit:

Nevermind. I read wrong. They are aiming for a simultaneous release. Interesting. I still don't think we'll get it for some time. Hope I'm wrong.

It's hard to believe that an update which is still in development, and which must be sent to cert afterwards, can be released in just 6 days haha, I'm suspicious about that.

Yep we're definitively screwed. We all know that Nintendo are the worse for cert ( Old Blood Fiasco !!!) So unless there is a miracle, we'll we wont have the update on the 25...

Why am I not even surprised.

You ever going to put that thing you call an "update" to cert maybe. Because guess what, it comes out on the 25th on ALL PLATFORMS.

it's probably not going to be read, but would it be possible to add a hold button like for ability casts, except that instead of activating abilities we can freely bind the functions? as of right now playing on console and having a button for all abilities plus transcendence led to me not being able to set waypoints or open the map.

Being over the base memory allotment again is to be expected with a new expansion. I really hope Nintendo has figured out their process though, because their history with updates that go over like this does not bode well at all for us getting anywhere close to the 25th as a release date.

On a more positive note, I'm very excited for the expansion and how much the helminth system is going to change up almost all of my builds.

Well, that’s just prime. :T

I know it’s no fault of DE’s and more on Nintendo’s end, but man...

Stuff like this makes me wish I could transfer my account to the Xbox One or PS4 versions instead of having to start over from scratch. 😕

Yeah I was really really really sad there was no mention of cross-save at tennocon.

Yeah, I’m not sure what the hold up is on cross-save, Corona notwithstanding. Surely, they could have another company (like idk, Panic Button?) handle it when they can return to the offices... whenever that is.

y'know, if you're so keen on releasing on all platforms simultaneously you could delay the other platforms so that we switch players don't feel like you don't give a damn, or at least give us some boosts in-game to make up for broken promises.

it's usually a really bad feeling when developers say they are doing a simultaneous launch just for it to not happen. think about it

The other consoles have the same warning that it may be delayed, so as of right now this isn't just a switch thing.

Also, no one wants other builds held up for the switch build. That just sucks for everyone.

ps4 and xbox are a lot more realistic. nintendo on average takes at least a few weeks to approve updates with some games having to wait over a month before they could update switch builds. that's just not the case for the other two consoles.

btw i was also making a suggestion to compensate switch players. if we are the only platform that's being delayed and no show of care whatsoever it's gonna make DE look like bad.

I agree that historically speaking we may be in for a significant delay which is unfortunate, but same as previous times, it's a Nintendo issue. DE doesn't have a time machine to submit new code 2 weeks ago, so not sure what makes them look bad. Also I think with old blood we did get some kind of switch exclusive compensation, like a booster or something I don't recall.

For the Old Blood Fiasco we got stupid compensation. A 7 day exp boost I think.

No if they want a simultanous release, hold it back for the other. Yes its really not cool but hey, DE are the one that said it would be live on ALL PLATFORMS at the same time. No one askes them to . So its THERE resbonsibility to make it happen.

At this point, I'm not going to get my hopes up. If it does release simultaneously on all platforms, then that's good for DE. I'll just do my dailies until the actual release gets dropped in the NSW console.

Not sure what more you would want. That's good compensation imo.

And nah. I'm never going to advocate for holding other versions back. But you and I have had this conversation quite a few times so we can leave it at that.

lorkhan summed it up pretty much. DE put this on themselves and they also knew that nintendo would take longer than usual.

it's homemade issues and that is what sucks. I'm gonna make an educated guess and say that if DE had put more thought into helminth beforehand, they would not have to nerf warframe abilities BEFORE people have access to them, which in turn would've allowed them to ship the build sooner.

and let's not pretend this was surprising. giving players access to valkyrs literally only ability that propels her into viability and one of the (if not THE) best team damage boost in the game from rhino was obviously preferable over useless stuff like nyx's 1

I would way rather have something downtuned before it gets released rather than after. Helminth adjustments being the only remaining items for this release, causing a delay, is a pretty big assumption.
