willoux_
Hello! For context to the title, I started playing this game back in open beta (I think that was like, may of 2013?). I LOVED this game, and played it super regularly for about 2 years. Around 2014 I stopped playing as I was starting my first job and was just all around really busy. I tried to get back into it around 2017 but was just too busy with uni at that point to spend the time I wanted to put into it. For a frame (pun intended) of reference, the last warframe release I remember was Limbo. Yeah, like, 6 years ago? Anyway, with the world situation giving me some more time and me finally getting burnt out on animal crossing, I decided to make a return. So, I will compile a small list of my reactions. First off, holy crap, there are SO many warframes now. I don't even know what half of them do. All I know is when some of them are in my party everything just dies at once. Why do I keep getting random warframe parts off trash mobs? I guess they don't only drop from bosses or quests now. ....there are HOW MANY QUESTS TO DO? Cities? interesting. they must function like relays. ....nevermind this is so much more than just relays. OPEN WORLD COMBAT? this is definitely the most interesting addition so far. Like, aside from the story content. I should probably get on those quests.. Honestly the most annoying thing is having to go back and do the junction objectives and complete the junction for some of the quests. I already have most of the missions unlocked since I completed the star chart back in 2013 so the only purpose these junctions serve is random blueprints and unlocking quests. Apparently my 4 forma boltor prime is no longer the meta. Sad. Apparently just putting viral and heat on everything is the new meta. Guess I don't need 3 configs anymore. Apparently my orthos prime is a new meta weapon? I'll look up some guides. ....all shall fall to my blender stick. Apparently ember is good again? Maybe I'll actually get around to making her. But first I have to get volcanic edge. I have all the other status chance melee mods, how hard can it be? ...very hard. I think I ran cambria 70 times. Anyone need vicious frost? I got like 6. At least loki still makes spy missions relatively painless. At least when my cat doesn't walk across my keyboard in the middle of hacking. Oh right, quests. ... I think I spent about 2 days straight beelining all the main quests. WOW. DE. Seriously, mad props. This storyline is actually super fun and interesting? Like, not that I doubted your abilities at all, but like, having come from a time when lore was scarce and remembering how there only used to be like, two map types (corpus ship and grineer asteroid base), this is incredible. I know what the tenno look like now? I know that lotus is....well, I'll keep it PG. Good work DE. The war within was way cooler than I could've ever anticipated, but the golden worm bit was...frustrating. The chains of harrow actually made me turn on my lights while playing because I was LEGIT terrified through the whole thing. The fact I can play as just the operator is super cool? I just wish I wasn't so...squishy. Having some of the boss battles rely on the void beam is a massive pain, I die so many times. ESPECIALLY the umbra questline. I have spent probably 2 hours reading on how the focus system works. I still do not understand. Nor do I understand how riven mods work, all I know is I have 2 of them but I have no idea how to use them. Nor do I know what a zaw is but I have a riven mod for it. I should probably read up on it more. The addition of exilus mods is so nice. Thank you. At least most of my frames still fit in the meta somewhere? ~final thoughts~ I know this post kind of went everywhere, but I just had to document some of this. DE, thank you for the continued love and hard work you have put into this game. It can feel a little overwhelming coming back 6 years later, but you guys did a great job of introducing everything in a way that it...mostly...makes sense. I'm so excited to try out some of the new frames and weapons and mechanics, and I hope that loki prime comes out of the vault soon :( Anyway, I'm going to go back to fishing and running around the open world zones, because I think out of everything, it is my favorite addition so far. Mods, if this thread belongs somewhere else, please move it! Even the forums look different now.

DragoonStorm1
This was an absolute joy to read ^_^ and yes your void beam should've been stronger by the time you made it to the sacrifice, thanks to amps at onkko at cetus, and LD at Fortuna. The meta.. ahhaha..yeah that's ever shifting. Speaking of viral+heat, that works great for grineer, but if anything the latest changes actually make you need mroe than one config to attack other enemies because corpus shields are actually strong now. So.. mag+toxin for them 🙂 And yes, orthos fell out of meta and is back to being strong again. In fact almost all melee are super strong today. One thing i suggest is: keep trying out new things and new builds and new combination of things, instead of sticking to one thing. You may find an extremely strong DPS frame to delete everything on the map, but sticking to one thing is a sure-shot way to fast burnout, so keep it fresh, and keep it fun! I hope you enjoy the rest of the game past the quests too! Good luck, welcome back, and have fun!

(PSN)robotwars7
hello, and welcome back! to answer some of your questions: 35 minutes ago, HawksLuckyEyes said: Why do I keep getting random warframe parts off trash mobs? sounds like Harrow's chassis being dropped in fissure missions (what used to be the old Void Key System, now it's Relics). i recommend Harrow, he's an excellent frame, especially if you fancy yourself a marksman. 37 minutes ago, HawksLuckyEyes said: Apparently my 4 forma boltor prime is no longer the meta. Sad. nope, I remember too when it was perhaps the strongest rifle in game, alongside Soma Prime. we've had a TON of weapons since then, I'm sure you'll find something you like. the recently added Stahlta rifle is sort of like a Corpus Boltor, would recommend. 40 minutes ago, HawksLuckyEyes said: Apparently just putting viral and heat on everything is the new meta. Guess I don't need 3 configs anymore. more or less, especially with our new "new game +" sort of mode called Steel Path, where you can replay the whole starmap again but with much tougher enemies and a few exclusive cosmetic rewards! 41 minutes ago, HawksLuckyEyes said: Apparently my orthos prime is a new meta weapon? I'll look up some guides. Orthos Prime has always been pretty good, we had a melee rework that made just about every melee weapon strong (even Fang prime, if you can believe it!). if you like polearms I also recommend the Guandao and Cassowar: both monstrously powerful weapons! 43 minutes ago, HawksLuckyEyes said: Apparently ember is good again? yeah, she got a rework again a while back. she requires you to manage her abilities, but she's very effective, and heat damage strips armour. (hence the Viral/heat meta) 47 minutes ago, HawksLuckyEyes said: he golden worm bit was...frustrating. yes. yes it was. 47 minutes ago, HawksLuckyEyes said: The fact I can play as just the operator is super cool? I just wish I wasn't so...squishy. Having some of the boss battles rely on the void beam is a massive pain, I die so many times. ESPECIALLY the umbra questline. you'll upgrade eventually, you just need to earn Focus and get yourself an Amp (Operator weapon). once you have a bit more health, a couple abilities and an Amp you'll feel much more powerful: nowadays you can do a lot of low level stuff without even needing a frame lol! 49 minutes ago, HawksLuckyEyes said: I have spent probably 2 hours reading on how the focus system works. I still do not understand. Spoiler basically: pick a focus school, then craft a focus Lens that matches that school there's 5 different schools to choose from: Madurai - focuses on offense/DPS mostly Vazarin - Focuses on Health and healing mostly Unairu - focuses on armour and tanking mostly Naramon - Focuses on invis and melee abilities mostly Zenurik - focuses on Energy regen mostly (I use this one.) you put a focus lens on an item of your choice (can be nearly anything, but putting it on a frame frees up weapon choices) and get affinity with that item. if that item is max rank, some of the affinity it would earn is converted into focus points, which you spend on buying and improving Focus abilities. it's essentially, a skill tree system. there's slightly more to it with things like Way-Bound abilities and such, but that's how you get started. focus abilities can affect both your warframe, and the Operator, and this is how you can get a stronger Operator. 55 minutes ago, HawksLuckyEyes said: Nor do I understand how riven mods work, all I know is I have 2 of them but I have no idea how to use them. Spoiler Riven mods are *controversial* mods that have randomly determined stats, they are designed for a specific weapon type, and the mod must be "unveiled" by completing a specific challenge it tells you; only then will you know what specific weapon it is for. then, you can spend Kuva (a resource) to reroll the mod in the hopes of getting better stats on it. it's totally random each time though, so bear that in mind. they aren't totally necessary, but they do help a lot with some weapons. 58 minutes ago, HawksLuckyEyes said: Nor do I know what a zaw is but I have a riven mod for it. Spoiler Zaws are modular melee weapons which you can get by doing Plains of Eidolon Content; you do some open world bounties, and buy Blueprints for the parts you want with standing. you then craft the parts in your foundry (using open world resources of course) and then once each part is built you return to the vendor and he will assemble the weapon for you. you then have to level it twice to unlock it's full potential (boo) but Zaws can be VERY strong, and YOU decide what type of melee you want and it's stats by using different parts! crit daggers? status polerarms? whatever you want. there's also a system for modular Primary and Secondary Weapons too, called Kitguns. that's in the other open world, Fortuna, on Venus. I hope you find some part of this helpful: there's a LOT of stuff for you to catch up on, and we get another major open world update on the 25th! have fun! No, Boltor P isn't meta anymore. It can still be great with a riven though. I still use mine.
(PSN)NeunDrachen
Considering some of the negativity in the forums past few days, this was nice to read. 10/10 would dream again.
willoux_
Thank you all so much for your kind words and advice! All of it made me smile 🙂 Just a few more things based on me remembering how things used to be... Please bring back coptering. I miss coptering. Secondly, is the snarky and mighty red text still a thing that happens during updates and hotfixes? I just remember DE staff being ridiculous with us in region chat and the whole "all hail the red text" bit would always crack me up.
