Hunters Munitions Slash Change

(PSN)m3wheeling

Question

So I am refreshing some of my builds and on my primaries I have been using Hunters Munitions on crit chance of 75% or more.  Since Slash no longer bypasses shields I am wondering how effective this mod is.  At such a high crit chance a case could be made to just pack on more crit damage with Hammer Shot.  Thoughts?

All I know is it works really well, you shoot them in the head with a few shots and HM kicks in the enemy bleed out and die, shoot them in the head without HM and you have to keep shooting them to kill them.

Someone will be along shortly to bring the math calculations to the table. Me I'm just a shoot stuff if it dies then great. 🙂

Can anyone even tell me how the slash damage from HM is calculated? This is the greatest drawback from HM that I don't think anyone truly understands.

My guess is each time HM procs it deals True Damage based on .35 of modded damage.  My confusion is slash bypassess armor but no longer bypasses shields so I am wondering how the shields are cutting into applying slash with this mod.

Since armored target generally don't have shields and vice versa, you should only use Hunter Munition (with viral) against grineers and focus on pur toxin and viral against corpus and infested respecitively.
The most versatile option would be a layout that let you proc 10 viral and corrosive  status, with a weapon dealing pure toxin for the damage but it not necessarily fit all playstyles.

It the exact same as normal slash status : "0.35 * Modded Base Damage * (1 + Faction Damage Mods)" per tick.

My only gripe is the damage based off innate slash or does it have its own slash damage?

But what about weapons with no slash damage at all? Is HM calculating from the other IP damage?

If you look at the forumla, it already doesn't take slash from the weapon into account.
Slash damage per tick is just base damage (after mods) *0.35, which mean you won't get increased damage from the status by putting on more slash. Having more slash on the on weapon only increase the probability of said status to occure.

Rather than putting it on slash based weapons, because it doesn't really get affected by your IPS, it's far better to concentrate on a weapon's potential damage per hit, crit chance and or fire rate. Basically you want to either crit often and proc lots of slash, or crit big and hit really damn hard with 1 slash. Rubico prime is one of the best seeing as it has high base damage and high crit.

Against greener slash is still very effective, all others-meh.

I agree that slash is not as effective on other factions compared to the grineer.  I might not understand how things proc but if you have a low status chance weapon your odds of proc anything are low because of the status chance.  HM gives you a way to proc something besides a terrible status chance so I have used it on other factions.  Is your status chance the only way to proc an IPS or elemental effect?

Yeah but only if weapon had huge base damage and hight crit chance, for example lenc or acceltra, but the bad example is soma, soma with HM kills grineer but not effective on enemies of other factions or with enemies with imune to slash+viral, also viral is must have with this mode,on every single weapon.
