[Warframe Concept] Altera, the Mad Mistress of Reality

Description: Able to manipulate reality for both offense and defense, Altera's innocuous veneer belies her terrifying power.

 

Stats (at level 30)
Health: 225
Shields: 300
Armor: 125
Power: 225
Speed: 1.15

 

Passive: Unstable Space - A 6 meter radius around Altera which can have one of several effects on enemies.

  • Transmute - 15% chance to transform the enemy's weapon into several infested maggots, locking them down and dealing minor damage for 7 seconds.
  • Reprisal - 10% chance to cause enemy's attacks against you to damage them instead. Effect lasts for 10 seconds.
  • Devolution - 5% chance to permanently reduce the enemy's current level by 20%.

Enemies have a chance to receive an effect each time they enter the radius, though only 1 effect can be active on any given enemy at a time. Effects are retained after leaving the radius.


1. Gravitational Flux

Spoiler

Causes gravity within a targeted area to fluctuate, lifting enemies into the air and then slamming them down. Recasting at a new location will cancel the previous instance.

Duration: 6/8/10/12 seconds
Range: 5/6/7/8 meters
Strength: 50/100/150/200 Impact + 2/3/3/4% of enemy hp dealt as True damage per slam


2. Flesh Cocoon

Spoiler

Altera warps into a targeted enemy, immobilizing them while recovering hp and gaining a buff to her defense and ability damage which activates when she exits the target. When the duration ends or the ability is recast, the enemy explodes as Altera emerges from their remains. Explosion damage is based on a percentage of the target's current hp. Armor and damage buffs are based on the target's level. Cannot be used on bosses or robotic targets.

Duration: 4/5/6/7 seconds (cocoon duration)
                10/13/16/20 seconds (buff duration)
Range: 15/17/20/25 meters (cast range)
             4/5/6/7 meters (explosion range) 
Strength: 100/225/375/550 Blast/Impact + 15% of current target hp
                10% of max hp recovered per second
                100 armor increase at base + 15 armor gained per enemy level
                10% ability damage increase at base + 0.3% damage gained per enemy level

 
3. Critical Instability

Expands the range of Altera's passive, adding a slight slow effect to enemies inside it while also allowing her to select the effects. Each effect now has a per second chance to trigger on enemies within range, with a lower chance of delivering an empowered version of said effect. Critical Instability is temporarily deactivated while using Flesh Cocoon, though Altera's passive is not. 

  • Transmute - [15% chance per second] Maggot duration and damage are now affected by mods. Also has a 3% chance per second to transmute an enemy into a larger swarm of maggots which seek out nearby targets.
  • Reprisal - [10% chance per second] Duration and damage now affected by mods. Also has a 2% chance per second to deal a percentage of reflected damage as True damage.
  • Devolution - [5% chance per second] Level reduction now affected by mods. Also has a 1% chance per second to lower enemy level to 1.

Duration: 10/12/15/18 seconds (aoe duration)
                7/9/11/13 seconds (maggot duration; Transmute)
                10/12/14/16 seconds (damage reversal; Reprisal)
Range: 10/11/12/13 meters
Strength: 10/15/15/20% enemy slow
                50/150/250/350 Slash/Puncture per second (maggot damage; Transmute)
                25/50/75/100% of enemy damage reversed; 10/15/20/25% of reversed damage dealt as True damage when empowered (Reprisal)
                10/12/15/20% enemy level decrease (Devolution)


4. Abyssal Gaze

Altera transforms her very body into a spatial tear, becoming immobile and invulnerable, while driving nearby enemies into a frenzy and bidding them to attack her. Affected targets will ignore allies even if attacked by them. Once the initial casting phase ends, enemies will be confused briefly before returning to normal. Recasting the ability will create a portal in the air above a targeted location and direct the enemy's previous barrage through it, with a percentage being dealt as true damage to the area.

Duration: 4/4/5/6 seconds (absorption duration)
                7/8/10/12 seconds (portal duration)
Range: 10/12/15/20 meters (frenzy range)
             4/5/6/7 meters (damage aoe)
Strength: 8/12/16/20% of redirected damage dealt as True damage

 

Reality warping is a bit of a broad theme for a frame, but nonetheless it's one I'd love to see explored in some capacity. Balancing this one was kind of difficult, so feel free to point out anything that needs adjusting. Also, thanks for reading!

The effects sound interesting. But this just makes it seem like a gimmick. Passive abilities are not meant to rely on activation of another ability for their functionality.

 

Aside from that, the frame looks good.

Yeah, that last sentence was a late addition, for the sake of clarity. Didn't want people thinking they had to stay near an enemy for the effect to remain, particularly with Reprisal, though perhaps that was unnecessary.
