844448
I see some Tenno here like the movement in warframe, but doesn't like the number crunching or doing synergy because they prefer having classic gunplay, some complain about "no challenge", blah blah blah that I don't bother to remember so I've been thinking, what if we have the warframe copy, but with different setting? The setting is in the present day, no far future or shet like that, you're a trained human with unparalleled parkour ability with guns and augmented clothes and gears so the core game focuses on mix and match, mobility and gun play 1. Weapons For weapons themselves, you don't use the mods where you play the numbers. Instead, it's more to modular model like what we have in kitguns so you can make your own wacky weapons for your wacky antics. For example : - Sniper rifle that uses shotgun slug rounds? Why not? - Minigun that uses basic 12 gauge shotgun rounds for close range destruction? Sure, if you can handle the crazy recoil and don't mind being a close ranged sprayer or maybe using 9mm instead for small recoil So you can modify your own weapon and focus more on the game play, not using meta mods and such. You can choose to use the basic factory made weapon or modify it to your imagination (Just don't make assault rifle with chainsaw, okay? That's scary) 2. Abilities We still have abilities, but it's quite similar to helminth system where your body is the empty "warframe" that you can use abilities as you see fit. For example, you can have ripline (grappling hook) or flame burst (fireball) to have on your arm, but can't bring both augments and this time, no abilities that turn off the AI so you will need to focus on the field 3. Armor You're not locked to light/heavy armor to protect you. You can upgrade your clothes to make it more resilient to damage so you can have defense, fashion and mobility at the same time and this comes from my imagination of having a bulletproof hoodie so I'm still able to run around without being weighed down 4. Movement The parkour is based on old parkour 1.0 but with no stamina bar so you can blaze around like in prototype games unless I found another games for that 5. Enemies Enemies won't have bloated health to the point of bullet sponge, but they will be more aggressive and better geared so they can take one more bullet to the chest, but if you can score headshots it means instant kill TLDR : Warframe copy but without mods to make it more balanced and focused on the mobility, gun play and tactics Will this work as a new IP? SilvaDreams
As for the weapons... Shotgun slugs can easily reach out to 100 yards from a shotgun (just most shotguns lack sights or just have a little ball sight) but after that they start loosing power because they are well.. A slug, a big heavy flat chunk of metal with no aerodynamics to speak of. That is why marksmen use the .308 round normally, or for the stupid ranges a .50 cal (the current world record is 3,540meters or 2.2 miles) Miniguns use 7.62x51mm rounds, the same thing that is in a AK-47 and can easily punch through concrete walls and even those need to be mounted with the heavy spinning barrels. As for shotgun rounds.. Ehh... Miniguns are not small besides we have fully automatic shotguns already (Even IRL, just look up the AA-12).. AS for 9mm... You can actually buy one of those (Though it's more a gattling gun and hand operated as it's illegal even in the US as it would be fully automatic) but someone has made a 5.56mm version (XM556) We tend not to make silly guns because well... They'd be silly and hard to use if not just impractical.
Berserkerkitten
Eeeeh. I play a human IRL and I think it's overrated. As for the weapons, I find Warframe's guns to be pretty inventive already. I don't want sniper rifles or miniguns using shotgun ammo. That's not fun, it's just weird. As for the removal of mods - where comes the long-term motivation from? Just new guns? Everyone is human in your game, so there are no unlockable frames or mods. What do I play for? Obtaining, leveling and optimizing mods is a huge part of what makes Warframe's longevity. Your "bullet proof hoodie" sounds boring from a balancing point of view. So we can just add extra layers of armor to everything without being slowed down or experiencing any sort of drawback? That means there's no reason to ever not use armor, so you may as well make the player naturally resistant and get rid of armor altogether. Sorry for sounding so negative. Not trying to ruin your fun or anything, but this sounds like a concept for a very generic third person shooter with a bit of added parkour. Corvid
Considering that the setting is one of the game's main draws for me, I don't see how placing this copy in the present day would be a good idea.
