Besides trading cores, how else do you get standing with the quills?

you can also get the quills standing trading universal medallion but using that is pretty inconsistent since the drop rate is around 1% in distruption, i suggest just farm vomvalyst first until your pure crit radiation sniper build done.

What standing are you at with vox (little duck) at fortuna?

Amps: You should indeed farm for vomvalysts in the beginning. A good amp to start out would be 223. Tier 2 on both prism and scaffold and tier 3 brace. Best one at cetus is 323. Now IF you have a level 4-5 vox solaris standing at little duck, then you can go with this amp combo, x27 (x being the preferable choices) best amps currently are 227, 327, 277 or 777. Also... read the other post "best amp available..."on this forum.

As to eidolonhunting itself

Warframes: I use rhino for solo's but volt is much better at that

Weapons: If you have gravi mag, I've just discovered a new toy to play with. The velocitus. Go for a full crit build (find any critmod for that thing and throw it on) with 2 elemental mods for radiaton. That thing does tons of dmg and is way better then any none riven gun. Even better then some rubico's with meh rivens on it, certainly with primed rubedo barrel.

For this I recommend going out with public eidolon hunting groups and trying to contribute to gain access to the cores that you will need to trade to the quills for standing.

Once you get to rank 3 with the quills you can purchase some basic amp parts. Build that amp, known as 1-1-1 because it is the first set of parts you can get. This amp is adequate for the teralyst. Other recommendations, get hold of a good sniper rifle, rubico prime if you have the MR or something similar within your reach. Mod this weapon for radiation damage.

While hunting you will need eidolon lures to capture the teralyst rather than killing it, damage the lure, take control of it and it will start following you. You will need two of these to capture the teralyst and get the better rewards. These lures must be charged - kill 3 vombalists near each one, you will know when you have because the icon will turn blue. Later eidolons require 3 charged lures.

To keep the lures alive, you might want to consider using oberon or trinity and running your healing abilities.

Have a look at youtube for videos that explain this better than I have been.

my suggest is don't worry about doing damage (seriously you can fail the boss if you dps wrong) just join other peoples groups as healing/support and enjoy the ride

But I feel like I won't be doing much, especially as a healer/support type, since the groups I join are probably going to have warframes with lots of health and shields - so I feel like being a healer is useless. I want to feel like I'm actually doing something other than being lazy and just letting them do everything for me

A few weeks ago, the whole Eidolon thing was overwhelming for me, too. What worked for me:

Eidolon Teralyst:
- Self healing Warframe: Wukong in the beginning, Volt later in the game (he is dying a few times per run with me)
- Gun modded for high Radiation:  Stahlta (alt fire), Lanka (I'm clumsy with Rubico)
- always go public and hope for a good squad
- learn how to dodge the Teralyst attack with the operator to the void

Quill standing:
- get the sentient core transmute from Onko
- farm some Vomalyst and the gems to transmute the cores, get 500 standing instead of 100 per core.

Amp:
- build a 2xx amp (Shwaak Prism), if you have trouble to aim/hit the Vomalyst. It's a Shotgun style prism. Low crit, but works fine for me on Vomalyst and Teralyst
- guild the amp

These are some pretty good tips but the only thing I seem to have trouble with on this list is learning how to dodge the teralyst's attacks, dodging the energy spikes and the slam attack are easy enough, the rest not so much.

Where can I get the parts for the rubico?

Look on the Market, you can buy the base blueprint with credits to build. Also, for your Eidolon hunts, whenever it's night on the Plains, there is a bounty offered on Konzu in Cetus. Pick it up and set yourself to Public, and there's usually groups farming. Focus on killing the Volmvalysts with your Operator/Amp if you can't do much else.

Good luck! 😄
