Buttons stop working during eidolon hunts

Roughly once every three or so eidolon tricaps, every controller input except left stick, map, and menu stops working. So I can run around, but can't attack, shoot, jump, use abilities, revive, sacrifice a shard etc.

Usually this ends a minute or two later, but occasionally it goes for so long I have to just drop group because I'm holding up the shard sacrifice or can't take my lures where they need to go. And I can't even message anyone first because that requires a button that doesn't work. Once the heat wheel worked but every other time it hasn't.

I have no solid idea of what begins or ends this issue. I've tried falling in water and dying and those have not consistently ended it. I think a couple times it started when I revived someone, but that could be coincidental. It does always get fixed when I leave group, but obviously that's not a good option. I'm a trinity when this happens, in case that's relevant.
