Just a small feedback on update timing

Sucks being an European for this one

I can't remember another update in a long time, granted I skipped Liches/Scarlet Spear/Railjack for some time after they were launched.

But this is a huge new update with a new open world and lore and whatnot to explore and play with, the fabled 25th is such a vague fork for time.

And it's currently 5 hours until midnight and a new day in the middle of Europe, I took a day off with a friend the one friend I still have interested in Warframe to play this game with hype and happiness, and yeah even if the update dropped at 23.59 pm I will play the game until late morning as I have the time, but many others will not.

There's hours of timezones set on the ocean map to reach 25th for the majority of players, but missing the mark completely on Europe is pretty bad for a huge part of the playerbase I'm sure.

I think the advertising should've said "next week", I checked and it has been 23 hours since the "soon" announcement video, [DE] I know the "soon tm" meme first hand, I've been here for years, but 24 hours is a really annoying "soon" a week is a timezone without this much waiting and counting the clock of another country on the other side of the world.

Is there something wrong with the update? Do you need to delay? Give us something atleast.

I'll be a happy boy once the update hits, very happy, but this time the "soon" is killing me.

Time Zones.

It's just after 2 over where DE is.

Yes I know, I hope it wouldn't be much to ask for an update this big to be released earlier on the morning so a lot of foreign customers can have the product available atleast on a timely manner. Europe is easily the second largest customer base after the americas.

I was hoping they would have to be a bit more ready since it's launching on PS4 and Xbox but I guess not lol.

Anyway, being in Europe as well it's safest to assume the update is playable the morning after the date they give. My feeling is that it's about 50/50 if it's worth waiting for on update day.  But for this one I think it will drop soonish.

And it really isn't worth taking days off based on dates DE give. A lot of people have been soured after doing that in the past years.

DE famously works up to the minute. Which means that a 'timely fashion' for Europe would be the wee small hours of the morning.

I'm also in europe. Patience is a virtue.

You're literally getting it the same time as the rest of the world. The sun is just in a different place.

It's no one's fault that someone took off work for it. My friend literally told me to take off for this today and I said "Why? I probably won't be launched until the time I'm almost out of work anyway..."

The smart thing to do is take off the day after....

Edit: Adding on to my previous statement

With that said, the Americas are the largest customer base and we still aren't getting it until well into the afternoon of our day...

Not to sound dismissive of your plight. But it's not really a great idea to schedule time off for the day of release on patches, for any game. Things run late, or are broken on release. I tend to find it more enjoyable to wait a day.

Learning to be more patient is one of the best things playing video games has given me. Patience is one of the best things to work at when it comes to video games, especially online games.

As for the OP, DE has never given out hour targets, just day targets. It's not like other games where they have scheduled maintenance when they deploy things they finished days or weeks before it deploys. Steve going live on his Twitch Channel is the closest thing we will ever get to any sort of time of day time frame and even then it really just indicates that it's going to be that day since he's streamed anywhere from 1 to 4 or 5 hours before the patch went out.

Yep, I have nothing for tomorrow either, thing is I'm not complaining for myself really, I have all the time and it's not a problem for myself really.

I just kinda hoped for it to be as timely for the most people.

If the update went live when I really wanted it would be at the exact same moment I wake up with Steve pulling me out of the bed to experience it lol

We have the one big thing going on and I'm basically out of a job because of the thing running wild so me taking this day off didn't mean anything that serious, yeah I'm not skipping work for a game ever.

Sorry, I edited my post right as you posted this. Even DE's own country and the U.S. aren't getting it until our day if over half way over. I'm sure they've been working as hard as they can, but unless you expect their entire staff to work overnight shift to get things out sooner I don't know how the results would be any different.

Well I didn't really say that I would want it on the 25th, just that the release date was atleast somehow consistent.

I'm currently watching Steve's stream and it's clear they are hard at work for us, and I wouldn'tve minded if the release was scheduled for tomorrow for example.

It's just that the marketing was so hot about it being, well, you know, "soon". For sure I'd be up for them to take all the time they need, hence if they used "next week" or something in the marketing it would've been a bit more laid back on both development and timing.

They told us the 25th well in advance of release. At least for PS4 the update day has been typically Tuesday for years. The PC always just gets theirs whatever time and day it's ready. I'm not sure which part is inconsistent, seems pretty standard to me.

Consistent as in hitting the marketed date on a good balance for customers. Previous marketing has not been this insistent on one day in particular, it's been either info or "out now" trailers, but for Deimos it has been "out on the 25th" from the start.

There's been a few set dates. I'm not sure what made this one a "dated" one, but it really doesn't matter. Knowing, or not knowing has no impact over whether the update comes out or not. The only difference in preparing to play it immediately or not is how much grind you'll put up with before they ease up on it, or how many bugs you are going to experience before patches. Lol

Well yeah recently it has been recently notorious that all content should be left unplayed for like a month before it's better to grind (Railjack reqs and Lich statuses for example)

But still I think the marketing did not hit the right mark this time.
