No worries. I was kind of confused when it was changed as well. With like 0 explanation in the game... when hovering over all the mission nodes on Deimos I noticed the boss battle Lephantis and put 2 and 2 together.

So, with matchmaking in these missions now, what is the expectation going to be in public missions?  Carry a random dragon key and hope for the best? Carry all 4 just in case? Only expect to open a vault if you actually recruit for it (ignore vaults in public missions)?

yeah id not expect people to be going for vaults in pubs

The vaults will spawn in all deimos missions?

In pubs, no one goes for the vaults. So you open them and let your team mates profit or you go solo.
