Tesseract7777
So, many people were not getting stuff much of the time or some of the time from cutting fish from Deimos. Many thought it was a bug. Now, in a hotfix today it has been confirmed that while they are changing it to now guarantee parts, it was intended to be rng based initially. Now, I'm not saying DE should not feel they can experiment with new things, even if they turn out to be unpopular (and to their credit they quickly changed it), but this is something we should have known about beforehand. All fish have guaranteed parts before, for two previous open worlds. Nothing suggested in the update told us it would be different this time. So, while I was not one of them, quite a lot of people cut a lot of fish expecting something, expecting the game to work like it did for every other open world. And it didn't. And now after letting people think it was a bug we are told that it was rng based initially. Just a small note in the update like they don't want us to think about it too much. But while I get called a white knight a lot, and other stuff, I really see no defense here. We need more explanation than a short blurb in a hotfix about this, we need them to explain why they thought this was a good idea, how it got through with nary an explanation, and issue a more formal mea culpa. People are already annoyed about feeling they must do certain things that have always been optional, now they have rng on those things as well and we aren't even told in advance. I want to believe this was just a miscommunication and DE meant to let us know in advance they were trying this little "experiment", because otherwise I really don't know what to say. Pizzarugi
Honestly I didn't know fish cutting was RNG in Deimos. Kind of a $&*^ move, considering the consistency from the previous 2 open worlds.
Skaleek
Honestly the guy at DE that handles loot acquisition does a pisspoor job every god damn patch. I'm so exhausted of this bullS#&$ acquisition rate on launch and having to wait for a year or more for them to "tune" it.
Fluttershy93
What the #*!%.... How the HELL did they think that having RNG on a bloody LIVING BEING having a part that is most likely crucial for living be RNG! Jesus hell DE, past few patches they have been sneaking more and more things under the hood without letting players know about it. Stealth nerfing, changing things without telling us. This so clearly shows us that they do not play their game at all, who in their right mind thought ''Oh yeah, lets make this fish not drop this X item that should be 100% because that is how other two updates are'' is a good idea. Seriously, i rarely get mad but man this leaves a horrible taste in my mouth dear god. DE, please for the love of god clean up your act, stop being so sneaky and shady, be open with the people playing the game you guys have created. Not being open is a sure way of losing even more players, more than you already have.
OniDax
DE keeps using RNG to try to stretch out content, even though they know that players don't like more RNG. How can they pretend to be player-friendly when they keep doing stuff like this? It's like they really do think of their players as "losers." I get called a white knight all the time because I think sometimes people's complaints are unreasonable. But right now I'm just mad and I don't want to be mad, but I am. And I just don't see any justification for them doing this. And their reversal is one line with no apology like they hope you'll barely notice and just move on. No script to help all the people who wasted their time yesterday just an "oops I guess our sneaky experiment didn't work oh well you caught us we'll change it back". Definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

How the HELL did they think that having RNG on a bloody LIVING BEING having a part that is most likely crucial for living be RNG! It's standard MMO busywork. Being told to go out in the woods and collect 10 Bear Asses, only to discover that about 1 in 10 bears actually has an Ass used to be the norm. DE have always fancied themselves MMO developers, and they consistently take the WORST parts of late 90s/early 2000s MMO over and over again. Warframe is seriously starting to wear on me. It's a genuinely good game repeatedly undermined by its own progression systems.

Believe me, i played WoW on launch so i know that typical MMO logic, but Warframe not being a MMO and all is just ugh... not to mention they put this in without TELLING US is the worst part. And then just ''revert'' it without any hint of being sorry. Like...i love the game, but man has it fallen from grace, and keeps doing so with the horrible dev decisions. In general, DE have been doubling down on the grind and the timesinks with every new update. Just when you think it can't get any worse, a new update drops and your time loses still more value. I wonder if I can just BUY some of this stuff with money.

Yeah that's the part that bothers me. You want to experiment with some MMO style rng I'm not saying I would like it, but it's a valid experiment in a live service game if you tell the players beforehand what you are up to and reverse it if it doesn't work. When you don't warn people, it just comes across as manipulative.

Not to diminish how awful a decision it was to have RNG fish parts in the first place, but they did sound contrite about it. At least enough to come out and say what was going on instead of taking the easy out and declaring it a bug. Nobody outside of DE would've known if DE themselves didn't tell us, and basically everyone assumed it was a bug at first.

It also doesn't help when the tool tip says you will receive something and you don't.

I will give them credit for owning that they were sneaking around and not just taking the easy out and saying it was a bug. But to be in a position where they get credit for that, they had to do a tad bit of snucking.
Lutesque
I mean... You can warn me that it's going to be RNG but that's not going to make the process of getting screwed over by RNG any less Frustrating. What they should be doing is not using RNG in the first place. I don't intend for my post to sound like it disagrees with this. My point is that the larger issue, that I don't want to be missed in everyone getting angry about them putting in rng fish to begin with, is that they didn't tell us to begin with. I wouldn't have been okay with it, trust me. But I am even less okay with trying to sneak it by.
