What I Love, Like, Dislike and Desired about HoD and it’s Launch

What I loved:

The World and characters and introduction!

let me start by giving you my thoughts and the first impression and experience I had with the update.

after recieving the quest to go to Deimos I immediately jumped into the mission, and boy oh boy was I amazed, fascinated and completely blown away by the landscape, style and story telling!

having played games like destiny(not a fan) or borderlands(huge fan) I felt right at home with That cute little schizophrenic robot introducing me to most amazing looking open world yet. Moving around in this completely overgrown infested Forrest and it’s caves felt tense, gave me creeps with the sound ambiente, and was in it’s own way beautiful.

having met mother, and the family members truly felt like an amazing story with compelling and interesting character designs

at this point I felt like this is such an amazing story and gameplay and world it would count as a whole dlc in any other video game that people would pay 30-40€$ for. AND THIS IS FREE HOLY S

So right from the Start is was truly a Great Introduction to this new world and it’s inhabitants.

 

Love to „older“ weapons, unique weapon mods, giving diverse and interesting new ideas 

after getting into the gameplay stuff more I noticed mods for older weapons that you could buy from father. And I am already hyped to get my hands on these! Giving us more option to use specific gear is always great!

 

what I liked:

new pets

always great to get more cute animals around, I am not personally excited to much, but I know people love them! I still want new sentinels too

 

the token system 

I do like the system as a whole and as a concept. I think it is great that you can rank up by truly doing what ever you want to do and get rewarded with progress in return! So the basic idea here is really good!

 

what I disliked about the launch and the new content:

the token system

although I just said I like it, I think it has two fundamental flaws that I don’t understand why this was done.

the first problem occurs when you FORCE you players to do stuff they don’t really want to do.. I personally NEVER bothered with Echo pure hunting, never once did I do it in Fortuna.. I just don’t like plushies all to much.

now I am forced to spend my whole day today to do this content I don’t enjoy just to get the required son tokens and animal medals to rank up tomorrow.. I think forcing players to do content is a nono. Especially when it is so diverse.

 

another issue I am already experiencing is that ALL activities feel EXTREMELY unrewarding in comparison to just doing bounties. 

You get 70-100 mother tokens for about 10-15 minutes of gameplay, resulting in AT LEAST 400 tokens 40.000 standing per hour from bounties.

doing hunts or fishing or mining, you spend ALOT of time by yourself, unguided, and a lot of running around, trial and error and you have to pay attention to get everything right (instead of blindly shooting at glowing enemys)

and the amounts of stuff you need to trade for tokens for daughter, son, father, otek, and SO high that you really aren‘t rewarded anywhere nearly enough for doing these things.

 

Delayed launch and forcing out the update anyway

the delayed launch I think was an unwise decision. For me the game was playable at 10pm, so I had 4 hours left until the daily reset.. 4 hours to enjoy the game, relax, and take everything in, take my time, enjoy conversation and the introduction quest AND GET MY DAILY STANDING GOING! 

The last part is what took away SO much enjoyment out of it all. By having a system in place where you can only get so much done per day, missing out on that feels terrible, especially with the introduction of a whole new system that we WANT to try out asap.

the update could have easily been delayed by a day or just release with daily reset, so everyone has a fair starting point the next day and can enjoy the new game first instead of some feeling the need to rush through. People would have understand. And waiting for a more finished release is ALWAYS right!

having then noticed the first requirement on launch day to rank up I felt betrayed a bit, basically taking away 23k standing I COULD have spent that day. Basically setting me back a whole day to get my hands on helminth. Speaking of..

a major factor that for me personally took away a lot of enjoyment was the urge to get to this new system as fast as possible.. coupled with the delayed launch a lot of „just relax and enjoy the game first“ was taken away from me. I know it’s a personal thing, but I believe many others must have felt the same, considering the chat on launch day where everyone just asked why they can’t get into the helminth right away. 

 

My ONE desire!:

man.. I love the story stuff SOOOOSOSOSOSO MUCH!

second dream, war within, all the other story bits and lore are SO fantastic! And the introduction to Deimos and the world felt SO EPIC! yet it was over so quickly again...

All I really want is MORE STORY! More voiceacting, more cutscenes, more story progression and a true true story line to follow with 8,10 or 40 hours of gameplay. I want a whole experience, a whole story, I want more. And I wNt more from Heart of deimos! More story and quests and getting more character development for the family and my operator too!

as much as I loved the introduction, I wished there was more. I mean, maybe there is and will be, but I want you DE to work on full releases, release that could be in a full retail game. Because you are the ones to do it. And I will support you as much as I can!
