The Broken Avichaea Spawn Site that always delivers

In an attempt to help the community in overcoming the first major hurdle in Conservation, I prepared two videos showing a good and bad Avichaea hunt in Deimos. I believe the video speaks for itself so here goes

The GOOD. This is straightforward and easy because the bird actually spawned directly high above the call site

https://streamable.com/pgzfms

The BAD. Here I saw then lost the bird so I tried to get a better angle to shoot it from and found one. It also shows how they may spawn within the structures in Deimos

As you can see, this site is reliable in a way. Just reload from your orbiter and go Free Roaming for each attempt.

I hope this helps and Good Luck Tenno!

IMPORTANTThis was posted before Son opened a shop for tags. If you have platinum, I suggest you just buy from him and save yourself from a lot of trouble, otherwise, read on.

That location was where i got my Avichaeas to reach Associate Rank and noticed it spawning inside of the structure when the Lure gets bugged. The Lures that bugs out tends to be very specific where the Call Point is at since one part would make it come to you as intended and another one that won’t.

"Like to hang on to walls"? More like like to get cozy inside them.

I'm not sure which is more frustrating, finding one stuck in the wall or just searching until I give up and reset..

They are a little small... I'd say the reports of finding these birds are highly exaggerated if not for the tunnel vision looking through the scope causes, the fact they're SMALL, and they're often lit up against bright, pulsating, pustules.

Might be high time for fauna to get the same treatment as mining got, only with a way more noticeable targeting reticule.  Thin-fog grey is hardly noticeable as is for common, stationary items.

Nah. I have my sound up and can hear the 'beep' that something tranqable is near when looking through the scope. No sound, no animal.

And as for the brght orange annoyances, I shove my face to a solid object that's a dull color, and then scan. If you hear the beep, you can see the orange 'pulse' from the animal. Much easier to see against the greay rock than out in the open.

Beeping is one thing, I'm aware of that.  Actually seeing a tiny bird that might be at distance highlight on an interval is another entirely.

Hence why I put my face against the dark rock and search through it. Move the camera, wait for the beep, move, wait, repeat.

Seeing an orange blinking image is way easier when you do that. And with how freaking tiny the birds are, you need all the help you can get.

I thought this thread was buried already, anyway, I did skim over and like to thank everyone for their replies. First off, you can buy tags from Son now so why even bother if you can manage, otherwise, proceed at your own risk 😆.

Here is my personal experience so far from the last time I posted:

  •  I did find Avichaea in the wild but not like what it was in the video posted by Lillekri. They were just flying low and stationary in midair

  In this spot

  • I did a run again just now to check what changed
    • The same poop site has tracks now and you can actually trace it back to the same spot inside the cave.
    • I did follow the trail this time but "maybe" you can still fly directly to the spot and just use the tranq or synthesis scanner to find where the call site is located
    • I used Ivara this time because I like to go invis when tracks are involved and not be disturbed
    • I did record it and you'll see how the bird seems to levitate inside the structure and slowly descend towards the call site
    • Sometimes it is hopeless to get a shot when this happens, but I was lucky to get an angle and still made a capture
    • the video has something extra (why I like Ivara for hunting), but please fast forward if you get bored (it is a bit long) because of tracking

P.S. DE has to do something about the pathing, it is one thing to be tasked to find animals in a new environment but allowing the player base to adjust and find ways to make up for the inconsistencies is not good. Spawning inside structures or in this case not flying like it is supposed to behave, does not help conservation at all. Personally, I do try because I still consider it as "playing the game," but I also have limits. Lastly, I welcome any player who can share their tips to find them in the wild quickly because they do come in threes like the other four-legged ones.

Sleep equinox or magus anamoly if you can't get equinox to target it.

Dont forget there are 2 types of Avichae. Only the commons count for the rank up.

I accidentally pressed my pheromone gland twice before making a call and got a Sporule and Viscid subspecies, so there is actually three types of Avichaea. I am not sure if the subspecies can be caught without the use of pheromones, but I am betting it is possible.

A tip for anyone with a bit of plat to spend. Son sells 5 tags for 15p. Seems like good price for me considering how atrociously boring and RNG based this whole thing is.

I was able to consistently get this one with ivara by sleeping it, and using magus anomaly to pull it out of the wall. Conversely im sitting on 40 avichea(just normal) tags just from free roam. In using this specific lure however, only 2 out of 14 tries did it get stuck in the wall. Most of the time it was just sitting on top of the cranium, sometimes you just got to wait a minute for it to get there

People seem to be ignoring free roam alot with 70 son tokens about 2-3 hours of free roam sessions

They can, i've seen both species in freeroam. IIRC they're tied to day/night cycle like medjay/panzer

I caught 3 Sporules without lure or pheromones. They flew on top of the Cerebrum Magna. I was happy cos I thought they were commons. Too bad they didnt count.

Fortunately, I've got 5 now and I'm building the Helminth Chrysalis. But what a hell it was to get those 5.
