Hildryn and Rebuild Shields

DeckChairVonBananaCamel

Question

So I've been thinking of adding Rebuild Shields to Hildryn (that 100% instant shield regen sounds amazing on her) but I'm not sure what ability I should replace.

Balefire: I dont want to replace balefire, as not only is it a pretty good ability on it's own but if i replace it then aegis storm will also be negatively affected.

Pillage: if i replace pillage i would be losing the shield/armour damaging effect, the status effect removal, and the ability to boost into overshields. However the shield regen would be instant, and i would gain a reliable shield replenishment source when fighting the infested.

Haven: I usually play solo, so haven only really serves to improve the survivability of companions and defence targets

Aegis Storm: I'm not a huge fan of this ability, for me the main draw is just the CC it offers, but of course it comes with the downside of limiting my offensive options.

So i guess my question is that, IF i was going to replace one of these abilities, which one should i replace? what is your reasoning behind your choice?

Tough question! I definitely would not replace pillage. As you mentioned, it's great for stripping off enemy defences, thereby increasing your damage. The overshields are super useful because they also block toxin damage, which usually ignores shields. There's also an extra layer of shield gating whenever overshields are depleted. You're right that against infested without shields and armor this ability is not useful, but lots of the new Deimos infested do have armor, so at least on Deimos I would keep this ability.

Out of the remaining three, I would replace Aegis Storm. It is decent emergency crowd control, but personally I dislike any ability that limits my movement. But that's just my personal taste 🙂

You can also replace a different ability in different configurations, so you can experiment a bit and see which feels the best!

That's some pretty good reasoning, another issue with aegis storm is that the more you actually use it like a jetpack (you know, flying around) the less effective the CC becomes. So you have to choose between fun and functionality.

i replaced Haven, Rebuild Shields works great to keep the balefires moving. and if you build them right theyll one shot nearly everything in the base star chart and half the stuff in steel path

Yeah I'm probably leaning this way myself, especially because i play mainly solo

Balefire or Aegis Storm, but if you're constantly casting Pillage, you're constantly getting shields back, and I'm not sure Rebuild Shields adds a whole lot on top of that.

Ahh but if for instance i decided to keep aegis storm, something to keep in mind is that pillage does not work in aegis storm, whereas rebuild shields does, allowing me to stay in aegis storm potentially indefinitely. Rebuild shields also gives me a source of reliable, powerful shield regeneration when fighting infested, whereas pillage requires the few infested that are equipped with armour. If i was to replace balefire with rebuild shields, then not only does aegis storm also suffer, but i also lose access to a pretty powerful offensive option.

i concur Balefire or Aegis Storm. you don't need to procure Energy Orbs if you're adding a way to regain Shields.
and you don't need the Ability Weapon, you have 3 of your own Weapons + an Archgun anyways. it's a superfluous thing.

plus use the Pillage Augment, it's pretty good.

add in Aegis too, as you have enough Capacity to make the Cooldowns work. still more useful than Barrier.

I would replace Aegis Storm. As you mentioned that you are more like an offensive person. I would hate to stay in the middle.

If flexibility is your concern you could always replace an ability in 1 config, then another 1 in the 2nd config. I did this on my chroma having 3 different injected abilities on 3 different builds.

I replaced aegis storm and never looked back. I run 313% strength and both her augments with arcane velocity to speed up my balefire charge. I have yet to find something she cant decimate. Her 4 is at-at-best, a gimmick if you run negative duration and efficiency in favor of strength. And pillage can be used purely for armor stripping/status cleansing if you want. Or, what I did is I still spam blazing pillage and my charged shots for balefire and rebuild shields is just a straight up cheat death. You spend 1/4 of your shields to get all of them back. Sounds like a winner to me. Makes it way easier to recharge your shield gate when you're in trouble. Blazing pillage also allows for regaining shields from unarmored targets like weak infested units, also works against corpus and grineer but corpus gotta have their shields removed first.

I removed Heaven without any doubts... Never understood this ability(I also playing mostly solo). Balefire is very good thing + perspective another few statuses  for profit-taker orb(But it’s more like noob option). Pillage even not discussed lol. And Aegis Storm... I like run isolation vaults, and simply casting aegis storm for final task (protection of Loid-Otak) turns this mission into easy AFK mode for few minutes. Also in ESO if I would like to rank up something, additional power orbs would be good thing for team.
