Spari Fishing Spear flies in a strange direction and gets stuck

On rare occasions while fishing, the Spari Fishing Spear will fly in a strange direction and stop accepting further actions.
The only possible actions are right-clicking to change the direction and aborting the mission.
Unstuck also had no effect.

this is fatal, wasting the collected material.
