Snowbluff
Xoris out. Heavy attack button does heavy throw. Heavy attack in air does heavy slam. Chakhurr out. Heavy attack button does not heavy throw. Heavy attack in air does not heavy slam. Sicarus Prime + Xoris out. Heavy attack button does not heavy throw. Heavy attack in air does not heavy slam. It has a dedicated button now. There is no reason for it to work this way. Improve the fluidity of the game and consistency of the controls by letting the Heavy Attack button always do the heavy attack.
Leqesai
As a controller user I am firmly against this suggestion. Heavy attack and Secondary Attack are bound to the same button and there really aren't many options for button-mapping on a controller.

Since it's a dedicated bindable key on PC, we still need this change. You can only protest out of the sense that you need to deprive the PC base for no reason. Even better, make it an option to allow console players to override their alt fire button if hasn't already.

Even better, make it an option to allow console players to override their alt fire button if hasn't already. As you can see from my username I do not have Console Tags. I am a PC player and I use a controller because it is much more convenient for me. The issue isn't that the button can't be overridden... Like I said, the issue is there just aren't enough buttons on modern controllers to account for all the binding options of keyboard. Also, "you can only protest out of the sense that you need to deprive the PC base for no reason." Here's a reason. The idea is just ridiculous. There does not need to be an extra button for this functionality. Your idea over-complicates a system that already has too many weird binding options. I do agree that it can be annoying to go into melee for heavy attack builds before you're able to do heavy attacks but I see this as one of the very limited number of downsides to an exceptionally powerful playstyle. Heavy attack builds are really really strong and being able to execute them while holding a primary/secondary would unbalance quite a few weapons/builds. Heavy attack builds are really really strong and being able to execute them while holding a primary/secondary would unbalance quite a few weapons/builds. Balance is a specious reasoning, given that this is warframe and good melees are exceptionally strong regardless. If making the game clunkier is a form of balance, that would mean making the game less good to play would be balance. Worse yet, Chain and Whip and Glaive weapons are some of the worst weapons by my reckoning. Glaives cannot literally serve their function (or at least gimmick) without this option. Is Glaives being bad and clunky a form of balance? Finally, there continues to be no reason why controller options should limit MKB options when the button is already separately bindable for MKB. If you meant this as a protest against giving players more options for their own tastes, it's not more complicated. For controller, most weapons do not have a secondary fire at all anyway. If letting people heavy attack with a firearm out is too complicated, then having any secondary fire is too complicated.

There's a specific Reason, DE policy: they've committed to what they call a 'universal' UI and Control scheme across all platforms in the interests of streamlining things for their lazy programmers who don't want to deal with having to do extra work. It sucks for both sides. As a Console user I get stuck with this dumb 'virtual mouse' interface, when any normal console game has D-Pad Quick Navigation. As a PC user, your controls get limited by the number of buttons on the Switch Controller...

I know the PS4 has the mousepad as an option for more space, but the switch does hurt things a bit.
