WindKitsune
It has exploration (open worlds). It has collections (codex, scans). It has casual activities (fishing, mining, etc). It has building and design (decorations). It has variety. Yes, the game started out as a looter shooter and that's all that it was in the beginning. Now, though, it's grown out of that mold. It has something for everyone. In a world where everyone wants to be the same, Warframe is unique. That uniqueness is what grabs attention. I've yet to see DE release repeated content. Similar, yes; same concepts, sure. Their content has the same basic functions but the number of twists they've brought with each new update has always been creative. The current fish in Deimos don't even look like fish and they float! Amazing! You couldn't walk on the fishing spots before and now you can walk on the Exocrine. You don't need to craft 5 different bait for common, uncommon and rare fish. You can use a single spear to catch all the fish. Keep being innovators, DE. Thank you for the incredible game. It still is just a looter shooter game. Sure, there are side activities, but they really are not the main focus. The game is largely just repeat content, the scenery is different but the missions are almost identical - the objectives are the same. Sure, the game seems unique, but let’s not pretend that changes what the game is. A game can be just a looter shooter, while still being a unique and excellent game. taiiat
what about that much of the things added to the game are "__, but painted this color or in this visual setting". that's not really very different. sometimes there are major differences to tasks in the game, but often enough it's a different looking version of the same thing. giving the Fish different Meshes doesn't change that they're still Fish(is a Prime Warframe a new Warframe, by your metric?). the Water being solid is... is this really a significant difference? it's convenient to be able to stand on the Water, but the way you Fish has almost not changed at all. the most significant difference to how you Fish is not having a dozen Bait Blueprints you have to Craft, but rather that you pick up your Bait off the ground and share it with several other things. the rest of the Fishing is the same. with Venus Landscape you could already catch all of the Fish with the same Spear. the Fish being able to fly and otherwise defy physics is sorta neat but also not necessarily something new since the Bugs they never bothered to fix with Fishing before let Fish swim through and Spawn in Terrain as they felt like. and now they do that on all three Landscapes. because of that unfixed Bug, you.... could say that the Fish were already defying Physics. you missed a major difference with your Fishing example though - Fish can now sometimes exist without you having a Spear in your hand. so you can both see and Catch some Fish while you were doing something else. i.e. less of a content island. Hunting received some of this by extension when Hunting was added to Earth Landscape, and Deimos Landscape fully deploys that. but that's all not expressly a good or a bad thing, it just is. WindKitsune
They are still fish, but they are different fish. So yes, a prime warframe would be a new warframe. Water being solid is a difference, because normally, water is not solid. Thank you for the addition - I was not aware of the fish being nonexistent before since they were always underwater and visibility was not that good. I assumed they always existed since I could see them moving occasionally due to the water splash noises.
AltheusVI
No-one starts playing warframe to fish, mine or hunt. These side activities take time out of the good bits, bouncing through levels like a magic space ninja killing things. Slaughtering things is where this game is at, outside that its all grindy distractions.

That's why they exist in the first place.

(PSN)caoshen0625
I've never consider warframe to be looter shooter. because I barely shoot anything, melee and ability is always better against mobs. This game is more like dynasty warrior + diablo
