Unplugging Orokin Catalysts/Reactors

Pretty much they only way to know for sure if weapon or warframe have interesting for you potential - is to put reactor/catalyst in it. Without one, mod capacity is way too low to have a taste of any decent build.

However if you wouldn't like it in the end and would prefer to sell it, to save warframe/weapon slot - your reactor/catalyst would be lost with it.

Minor price of 5p, or maybe even 10p would be just about right, to allow us unplug reactor/catalyst from warframe/weapon we about to get rid off.

That'll never happen.

You should level up the item for the MR anyway and be able to get an idea if you like the weapon enough to put a potato on it. Or once you've played the game more, you'll have 'spare' NW points to buy more potatoes. Also always check the invasions when you play for them and also alerts for GoL.

You NOT get an idea how good or bad weapon is, unless you put a reactor in it.

It's also impossible to get as many free reactors as weapons you get, no matetr how much attention you pay to all ingame mechanics that reward you with those.

You can still tell if it's a weapon that is totally un-fun to you or not. You can still get an idea if it's viable or not by using the lower modded item on lower level enemies. It shouldn't require you to immediately take it to the simulacrum and try it out on level 150 gunners.

If you're that so concerned with whether it is a "decent build" or not, why risk potatoes at all? Wait for other people to try things out and then just watch a video by xXxWarframeEXXXtreme420-69swagxXx showing you some perfect cookie cutter build.

It's a free-to-play game. Either you put in the time and effort to earn them from GoL alerts, nightwave, trading stuff for platinum to buy them from the market, or buy platinum yourself to get them from the market.

They're never going to let you remove potatoes from items, even for a few plat. They'll always expect you to buy or obtain fresh ones.

So many people in this game that concentrate too hard on 'perfect' builds and 'god rolls' on rivens. Too few people want to experiment, find things on their own and you know, have fun with a game.

Aaaaand i actually proposing DE to earn more money. As you would have spend platinum to unplug catalysts, even if you recieved it for free, so...

Not as much as they'd receive for people just buying new ones. I imagine they'd make more from people that are willing to spend for a potato right now will buy new ones than unpluggers versus the number of people that will just wait until they can earn a free one.

It's fine, you made a suggestion so it's out there. I just don't see it happening.

I'd really love Potato Unplugging. But sadly I also doubt DE would do it.

Better if there was more reliable ways to acquire more potatoes, there are too many weapons for the resources made available.

...Which they still give for free.

And again. That would be money making for DE, becasue you would pay platinum, to unplug catalyst/reactor, which you previously got for free.

That will never happen. More so for financial purposes to DE. Forma, reactors and catalyst is one of the prime things to consider buying platinum for as new player. I do not expect these ever to have a way to be pulled off. And People who played the game a lot have these in droves, so that have no purpose.

I do wish there is a way to see how weapons will operate with reactor + 5-6 forma before I decide to invest in it. I rarely do invest in anything anymore because of that. Unless it is a sure thing, like a high end melee or ranged weapon, I won’t bother.

Currently the best we got is sites like Overframe that allow us to plan our mod builds ahead of time. But it is not 100% accurate, and mere theoretical stats don't always tell enough about how it will actually perform in reality. But I would LOVE some actual in-game way to try out weapons you do not own, have not fully forma'd or potato'ed, setting up the mods and everything. Perhaps in the Simalcrum? There you'd also have the "training dummies" to test these builds and weapons on as well.

Except that it wouldn't make DE more money.

Here's a simple truth:
They don't give you enough weapon potatoes available for free in order to heavily encourage you to buy some.  This is a major plat sink in the game.

If people could just pop out used potatoes they would have to do that 4 times to equal one sold catalyst....meanwhile DE just lost out on selling 3 potatoes meaning that they are 60 plat negative.....

So please tell me how they are "earning more money" when they are losing out on potential sales....after all every swapped out catalyst is another lost sale.

And I really don't buy the excuse that at least 4-5x as many people would suddenly start spending all their plat swapping around catalysts as there are people right now buying catalysts from the market to make up that difference.

I played Xaku for the better part of an hour without a potato and learned all I needed to. He goes into the Maw as soon as he hits 30. Go back and play guns like the Xylok or Stug and tell me you needed a reactor in them to tell they were complete crap. Same with Catchmoon primary. I got suckered in on that one, I hit 30 with it, no potato and no forma and thought "It can't REALLY be this bad!" and then a reactor , a riven and 5 forma later thought "Yes, it can REALLY be that bad!".

So you just gonna throw free catalysts and reactors out of equation...

Plus, i said MAYBE 10p
