People's thoughts on reworking skins

Hey guys and gals I've been thinking recently on some way skins could be made more appealing in game. I'm talking skins from nightwave and baro. There is 1 skin, the fragor barrok skin i think it's called, or maybe it's the scindo skin, anyway either way it gives a little weapon bonus. Just wondering if that's something that could be looked at for added incentive to  actually use them. Like the atomos skin, could be say bonus heat damage, minus a bit of range for example. Thoughts?

It's the Fragor Brokk.

DE, a long time ago, stopped tying statistics to cosmetics. They said very clearly they were against that.

It is the reason for which, for instance, Arcane Helmets have been discontinued. You know, like the Rhino helmet that added strength. Can't find it in the market anymore.

 

Why they keep selling the Fragor Brokk without eliminating the stats, however, is a mystery to me. Althought it's probably just an oversight.

DE has stated that they aren't going to make any more skins that affect stats for one reason:  It makes you choose between either having something that has good stats....or something that looks nice and you want to use because it looks good.
Basically you either had to choose the helmet you like, but gimp yourself by doing so, or choose the helmet you don't like because its just better stats wise.

Further it de-incentivized getting some of the helmets.  After all if the helmet has bad stats why would anyone ever get it?  This just hurts sales...

DE used to have a bunch of arcane helmets for Warframes that would affect stats.  Such as increasing power effeciency but slightly lowering armor.  Players generally didn't like it because there was always one "correct" choice of helmet that was just better than the alternative no matter what you were trying to do with a frame.

I mean for example Vauban has two arcane helmets.
The arcane Esprit helmet:

This increases energy but lowers shields (and IMHO is ugly as sin)

And the arcane Gambit helmet:

This increases parkour velocity but lowers your duration by 10% (and looks better IMHO; even though it still has nothing on some tennogen helmets out there)

Now with those stats explained...which is the helmet that 99% of players would use, and which one is objectively harmful to use in pretty much any build (Keep in mind that penalties take effect after any bonuses...so say you have 200% duration, this would lower it by 20%, or 10% of your total duration).

That's why DE decided to stop putting stats to skins.  It turns skins from a "Ok, I want to use this skin because it looks good" with people using a variety of skins due to personal taste to "I have to use this skin because its objectively better than the other one for the stats it provides...." and everyone uses just one skin because its just the best thing to use.
Further it screws over players who don't want to use skins, after all they just lose out on beneficial stats simply because they don't want to use a skin (Maybe they like the default look, maybe they haven't had a chance to buy the skin).
Finally how are tennogen skins supposed to compete when its "Yeah you can get this cool tennogen skin....but it won't give you the extra damage of this skin so why would you ever actually use it?"

It's just a bad idea to tie power into how a player looks, players don't like it and it hurts sales of cosmetics because no one would buy a skin that has crappy stats.

I really think some base warframes that are the very first oines need some love. The new frames non-primed look more primed than some older primes. Lets not forget that older frames need reworks badly like trinity and nyx, why use trinity when you have her in wisp in form of a mote and why use nyx when you got revenant
