Missing Squad Menu

Boltyr

Recommended Posts

After the new mission complete screen update. Every time someone initiates a vote for another mission while I'm still loading my orbiter (from the new results screen):

I always get instantly kicked out of the mission result screen (not need to click exit or press ESC);

Hear the mission starting sound. The one you hear when the timer's at 1 second before starting a mission;

Have the squad menu missing;

Cannot select a new mission node because they wont load;

Can sometimes go into a relay to "fix" it. And other times I get loaded in the mission that was, presumably, forced to start by other people;

Cannot go into my Dojo. I get a infinite "Please Wait" loading;

And, no matter how much time I got to spare, my game won't load in the mission that was queued by other people in the squad.

Basically, after this update, because of other people I need to either ALT+F4 my game or pray that going to a relay will maybe give me the squad menu back. Can we get a "Auto disband squad after mission" option for people, like me, that can't load their orbiters in 1.5 seconds?

Edit 1:
As per tradition, after every sortie, people tend to spam the next mission as soon as they load and that means I get to ALT+F4 my game. This time however, trying go to a relay through the syndicate menu didn't even work.
As soon as it happened I tried going to a relay, no timer or anything could be heard after pressing "OK";

Clicking once to go my Dojo through the communications > clan menu made me leave the squad;

Trying to go to the relay again still wouldn't do anything;

Trying to go to my dojo again did nothing. Clicking one last time I got met with the infinite "please wait" loading. I ALT+F4'ed after that.

I have the same problem. Right after a mission, I get kicked out of the result screen and then both the squad and the star chart nodes will not be accessible.

I am still able to access orbiter areas like the Arsenal and the Foundry. Occasionally the mission result screen will suddenly appear when I go into the Arsenal, but the squad and star chart nodes remain inaccessible without a complete quit & reload.

I noticed this yesterday running Orokin capture vault missions and it happened again today after a Mot run.

After this happened to me in Cetus I know now that it is 100% related tô the new results screen.

Upon leaving the plains and entering Cetus. Before the result screen had a chance to open, I quickly pressed ESC > Fast travel to master teosonai and traded a few tags. After I finished, I noticed I didn’t have my squad menu.

So when other people initiate (not always) a vote or force start (always) a mission, the game forces the new results screen to close, preventing it from giving you back the squad menu.

I can confirm top/left squad menu + player ui missing after every bounty mission.

Happens with:
- Plains of Eidolon
- Orb Vallis
- Cambion Drift
bounties after returning Cetus or Fortuna or Necralisk.

Only known fix is to return Orbiter.

As of Hotfix 29.0.8 where it was stated under 'Fixes'

Quote

Fixed parts of the HUD breaking after attempting to open the ESC menu during a ‘Mission Complete’ animation (going from Free Roam to Town/Hub). As reported here!

The squad menu is still missing after someone initiates a vote for a mission before I finish loading the mission complete screen. I know it was a vote because moments after I screenshotted the menu missing, the game said the host left the squad. And no, it did not give me the squad menu back afterwards.

As for this occurring when returning from any open world, I cannot state if it is still happening because I have not had it happen to me until posting this reply.

I've uploaded a small video of it happening to YouTube.
If low FPS and/or low resolution triggers you, be warned.

My laptop couldn't keep up with loading the game while capturing it, so I'm going to restate what I've put into the description: Around 3/4 of the loading square, the mission complete screen is forced closed. I did not input anything to the game. The video then hangs a bit while I was showing the ESC menu and the lack of the squad HUD on it. I proceed to show the star chart. It does not display the nodes, doesn't allow ESC'ing to zoom out, nor clicking in any planets after zooming out. I proceed to show that I cannot join a relay through the syndicate thingy in the orbiter. And then, finally, I show the infinite "Please Wait" when trying to go into my dojo while in this state.

It is a bit hard to see because of my game being in low quality plus YouTube's rendering. But I think the key points can be somewhat understood.

Mission complete screen can be seen at 1:21 minutes in the video.

figured i'd post here instead of a new post...

This is still happening to me, and at this point I want to say it totally has to do with the end mission screen. When the squad forces a mission, I load back to my orbiter, where i launched from, with a broken squad UI. Loading a new mission is thus impossible, as the navigation screen is then also broken.

Still happening. Including in open worlds, which I did not get a screenshot 'cause I was talking with teammates to force start the mission, since i couldn't accept it.

This first one happened literal minutes ago. Was farming some murmurs in a squad. Host wanna go fast. Insta-queue for the next lich mission. And I get to go to Profile -> Logout (which, as a side note, resets your FoV to the game's default).

Also this. I can't even explain this one aside from begging DE: please give us, people that can't load as fast a microsecond our missions/hub/orbiter/whatever, an auto-leave squad after mission option. That way you won't even have to bother fixing the actual problem, that is the years old squad system. Please. I'm so tired of either having no squad menu and having to logout and login again. Or being literally hijacked into another mission before I could even finish loading my orbiter.

The very least you, DE, could do is acknowledge that this is still happening and say something like "we're looking into it". At very least give us hope.

I'm getting this too on PC. It only happens if the squad I'm with force starts a mission before I've loaded back to the Orbiter. I've found two sort of workarounds...

1) Enter and exit the Arsenal. Most of the time this brings up a second Mission Complete screen and exiting this should start the countdown in to the mission.

2) Open the Syndicate console and visit any one of of the Syndicates. This forces you into a relay and once you leave to go back to the Orbiter things should be back to normal.

However, I will add that this is about as annoying as a bug gets. There was a time when the game would just drop you from the squad if the rest of the team started a mission before you'd got back to the Orbiter. Honestly I'd prefer that to this bug.

That has never happened to me. I can change loadouts and whatever my heart desires, but I never got a second mission complete screen afterwards.

That worked only once for me. Any attempts after that lucky first just resulted in me hearing the other player's ships leaving, then subsequent clicks did nothing.

This is partly correct. It does happen when people force start a mission. Sometimes I actually start to load the mission. Other times I get stuck in the no menu nor navigation state. But this also happens when people initiate a vote for a mission. Countless times I've had to say to my squad "can't accept, please start" and so they did. If they were able to force start the mission, that can only mean it is the voting phase.

I just went back and re-read your original post. Interestingly I don't get kicked out of the mission result screen, I have to manually exit out. Everything else seems similar to what happens for me.

I'm curious as to what spec machine you are running. For comparison, mine is an i5-4210U (2 core, 4 thread), 8GB RAM, SATA SSD, Intel Graphics (urgh), running Windows 10. I'm also using a PS4 controller for input via DS4Windows. Internet connection is fiber, connected via 5Ghz wifi that sits about 2m away. Average ping is around 200ms, mostly because I'm in NZ but play on the North American region (way more people to play/trade with). I suspect it has more to do with the laptop spec than my internet connection though.

No question about that. I very much know my specs are beyond low-end. A measly I3-4005U, 8GB DDR4 ram, I don't quite remember my SSD brand but I think it's Kingston? And yeah, intel graphics. I don't try to get any visual quality out of the game. Every single option I can disable/reduce I have.
I was using the experimental setting "Optimize Flip-Model". Then deactivated it to see if it makes a difference (performance wise, the problem with the end mission screen still happens) and it's roughly the same, a few frames more there, a few frames less here.

Running Win 10 as well. I do have PS4 controller connected and it works through steam input, or whatever it's called. I don't use it tho. Internet is pretty bad but at least its on cable, not wifi. Also playing in NA, from SA, due to higher player population.

I managed to get this to happen now.

First of all I had to go to ESC -> Communications -> Clan -> Enter Dojo to force leave the squad (as noted by the sound of the other player's orbiters leaving), I tried to select a conclave game, as stated by @fr4gb4ll in his own thread about a similar issue, however the game wouldn't let me, probably because I was still in a "squad":

Spoiler

I also tried going to the Leverian. It did nothing. So I tried going to the arsenal, to see if it would bring a second mission complete screen and, to my surprise, it did. After that I noticed that when I clicked the navigation/conclave console the game would show the "Creating Session. Please Wait" popup, no nodes showed up tho, and this time the game would let me start a conclave game:

Spoiler

pdppC8W.png

I'm unsure if the squad menu should show up in this conclave screen as I've never clicked it before. But instead of clicking in the Lunaro practice, I chose to go the Dojo menu again to see if it would load. It did not, as of writing this, which was about 5 minutes of waiting on a "Please Wait" screen. So I was forced to ALT+F4.

Edit:
After opening the game again I went to the conclave console and yes, the squad menu does show up in the conclave game select screen.

I think this image speaks for itself.
No, I could not close the result screen.

In case it isn't obvious, steps to reproduce:
1 - Have a slow PC/Laptop.
2 - Have someone force start a mission.
3 - ???
4 - DE please fix

I also decided to stay until they extracted just to see what would happen:

How is this even ok, DE? What? I'm supposed to alt f4 my game because other people couldn't wait five seconds more? because you won't fix this bug?

After they were probably annoyed due to me being literally stuck in a buggy screen and not being able to do anything except watch, they left the squad and I was able to exit end result screen as normal.

I really thought DE had fixed this you know. Guess I was just being extremely lucky of having squad members leave the squad after every mission/not start a mission vote for the past week.

But this is still a thing, And I'm going to bump this thread every single time this happens, along with a screenshot from the moment.

Yeah definitely isn't fixed as I'm still seeing it occasionally.

I realised that it's only when a mission vote has started before I'm loaded back to the Orbiter and not always because someone has force started the mission. I've taken to asking the squad to force start because at least that drags me in too and I can either play or quit (generally only quit if it's a void relic mission cause I haven't had the opportunity to select a relic).

Keep on posting and hopefully DE will have a fix soon (fingers crossed!!)

I did that in the beginning too. But it gets old really fast, and sometimes people get salty someone's having problems that DE won't even acknowledge and just leave the squad themselves. Nowadays I just go to Profile -> Logout every time it happens. At least saves me the trouble of praying that I can go to a relay or have to alt f4 my game.

This was during the 2nd sortie. Happened in the first too, but forgot to take a picture.

I also made a post about this,it has been a bug since the new loading screen was introduced,multiple hotfixes later it still exists,it is also very frequent for the low spec players as it can happen after any public/squad mission

My forum post:

Thank you. The more people that post about it the more chances we have that DE will at least acknowledge it.

I think I've read somewhere that the cause of this is when you are in a squad then after mission finish... Loading into you Orbiter.. The other squad starts/puts/selects a mission that will cause this bug.

When doing relic I specifically disband group each time I finish if I am host, but with my slow load times everyone is safe with me. :highfive:

Work around:

  • Lower ping limit so you will always be host. Issue may still persist even host if someone loaded out before you and click repeat on a relic mission.
  • Play solo :sad:

That pretty much sums up what is happening. Most ppl don't seem to rush in to new missions, but there are a few who do. Great that they have fast machines but some of us don't...

Disbanding works - a lot of the time the team is long gone when I get back to the orbiter. So a big thank you from me for that!

Lowering the ping limit doesn't help in my case. I live in New Zealand/Oceania region where there is a really small player base, so the only way to consistently play with other people or find people to trade with is to change region. I use North America which means that generally I'm looking at a 200-300ms ping time. Overall the game is playable at that. Setting the limit any lower than 300ms means that I see no one. I've also had the odd occasion when I've started a game as host, only to get an immediate host migration. Same four members, just someone else hosting. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the ping, or that I'm using a laptop that is frankly quite slow.

I do play solo quite a bit, but it takes a lot of fun out of the game. I'd rather open relics in a party for a better chance at a rarer item. I don't yet have right mods/builds to be able to do sorties, arbitrations, SO/ESO solo (at least not on PC).

For the time being the logout does work, and so far I haven't had anyone complain when I've asked them to drag me in to a new mission.
