Trumna and PunchThrough

Swazdo-lah fellow Tennos!

I finished crafting my Trumna earlier today in the afternoon but only grabbed it to start leveling about 2 hours ago. The weapon has an interesting concept just like the other Deimos weapons but honestly it kinda disappointed me.

The Primary Fire deal low damage for a heavy Rifle and has a ludicrous recoil. I added Primed Shred and Stabilizer on it to increase the fire rate, reduce the recoil to actually be able to aim the weapon and punchthrough to allow it to kill more enemies and be more ammo efficient.
Turns out Punchthrough makes the weapon's Alt-Fire completely useless as the projectiles disappear into walls instead of exploding and rarely deals any damage from its blast.

I really hope [DE] makes it so the Alt-Fire cant be affected by PunchThrough mods, i dont plan on adding Vile Acceleration to the weapon, not because of the -15% damage but because i feel the weapon works best (As most do) being able to hit more enemies at a time with the PunchThrough.

Others having the same issues?

I don't see them doing anything about it since it's an AOE weapon and both primary and secondary fire explosive rounds and punch through is really not meant to be put on explosive weapons. Probably better off putting Firestorm on it if you are really concerned about hitting more enemies. I just stick to crit and damage on mine.

you have to kill five or so enemies to use the trumna's alt fire.

from what i'v seen, it's well worth the wait since the trumna is apparently very good.

Yeah how it looks and how the description says I thought you could switch from an automatic trigger to an semi auto trigger, and had the alt fire also. But guess the semi trigger is the alt fire

Hmm, I have run into, as far as I can tell, precisely the same issues & questions. 
 

Punch-Through for a discharged Radial Attack shot is not, or should not be a question. The shot will blow when and where it hits something. 
 

Delivering an automatic or semi automatic projectile that deals impact & heat damage, also SEEMS as though it should be a no-brainer for punch-through (i.e. there is absolutely no good reason provided or apparent, for punch-through to not work, and given the situations which it’s design seems to be intended for conferring some advantage in - piling on mobs of infestation - no punch-through renders it about as effective as flogging with a wet noodle, but if it can’t handle punch-through then so be it).

The question that is most pertinent is the one of how to select Semi Auto over Auto, since each has its own set of stats, including fire rate (which is between a quarter & a third of that for Auto in Semi Auto), a higher distribution ratio of Impact to Heat Damage, a higher total damage, way higher CC, bizarrely lower Accuracy (while the 200.0 accuracy for Auto really calls into question whether we should be taking these numbers seriously in terms of representing anything that effects performance, when a 55% reduction in accuracy from Heavy Caliber drops it from 200.0 to 28.8? in Auto and 9.1 to 7.2 in Semi Auto) ... Is this post starting to seem ramblingly nonsensical?

It’s merely trying to follow the sense which the Trumna and the descriptions, performance & statistics provided by & for it have been making thus far ... (I think I’ll be needing to return to this post to do some editing, because I can’t really recall what it is I wanted to try to find out .... )
