Possible Melee Bug: Temporary allies and the combo counter

I'm not sure if this is an actual bug or an intended consequence, but I've encountered this situation with both Revenant and Xaku.

In short, while you can damage your thralls and Accused targets with melee attacks the same way you can damage normal enemies, hitting them doesn't keep your combo duration going. I can hit 12x combo over the course of a mission, and if I'm surrounded by thralls or enemies affected by Accuse and swinging my melee weapon, the combo duration will run out and I need to find normal enemies to build it back up. This admittedly isn't a hardship, but it's still fairly inconvenient.
