Tusk Heavy Gunner dealing insane amount of damage [Fixed]

Recommended Posts

I´ve done a lot of Eidolon Captures yesterday and I can confirm that "some" Grineer units do a completely exaggerated amount of damage. They can oneshot lures, they can oneshot my warframes, they almost killed my Necramech in a couple of seconds, including 2k shields and shiedgating and over 4000 health.

Something is wrong there.

They are also bypassing Zephyr's Turbulence as if it never existed. It is literally impossible for me to complete any bounties on the Plains since everything has at least 1 escort or defense objective, which is making my life a living hell to complete nightwave earth bounty missions.

Also for some god damn reason they have pinpoint accuracy

"Bonus: keep the drone above 80% health"

Drone: *gets oneshot*

It wouldn't be so bad if you could quickly tell where they were shooting from.

Anything that deals this amount of damage sorta needs to be using tracer-rounds so that players can quickly trace the devastation back to its point of origin, giving them the chance to neutralize it before it wipes your whole team (or your defense objective). At the moment, if you're not using a tanky frame with Adaptation, the only warning you're going to get is a few milliseconds worth of explosions at your feet before you're reduced to steaming giblets.

Recently, I noticed the damage of the Tusk Heavy Gunner's Grattler doing substantially more damage than normal. Only three shells (4 or 5 with the Vast Untime) to down both my Xaku and my Dethcube Prime. Those Grattlers ripped through half of my Necramech's health in less than two seconds, faster than a Deimos Jugulus's bone glaives.

This is like the Juno Elite Crewmen on steroids: AoE that can't be avoided due to how Grattler shells explode in proximity coupled with near instantaneous projectiles with very high AoE damage.

I can't warrant a good guess on why they're overtuned, other than their Grattler inheriting our Grattler's Atmospheric stats along with the proximity detonation.

high level kills lures even faster. and it would be ~ok but there is also damage from other sources + ofc it gonna tend to be glass enemy, because during hunts it spawns every time you reach some greneer camp.

so in hunt it looks like that:

grattler greneer kills 3 lures (twitch clip)

just lost 3 lures at terry in a very short time. like literally few secs of greneer aiming to lure and it dies (normally lures die such speed only in laser pillars of gantu)

Tusk Heavy Gunners do a seriously disproportionate amount of damage at any level.  Even doing a free roam with lvl 10 enemies.  My frame was killed in a matter of seconds by one of these gunners before I could even pinpoint their location due to being inundated with explosive particle effects

I agree, and it's even worse now.  I was casually farming Cetus wisps the other night and got instantly annihilated by one.

This is the Juno Elite Crewmen on steroids:

  • Near instantaneous projectiles with no good visual feedback.
  • Explodes on proximity.
  • Even more damage that melts Eidolon Lures and Necramechs.

There's no way anyone can defend this monstrosity from staying.

It's also affecting me, and my best friend who just started playing the game and wants to get Gara. This needs to be addressed VERY soon because 99% of the bounties are impossible. They kill me and my friend outright unless we spot them with lightning speed.

Their damage does seem to be much higher than it was, we've asked a designer to dig into this and see what's up

I've noticed their Grattlers aren't colored to the Tusk color palette, but using the normal colors of the Grattler. That probably means they're using a different Grattler, likely our's in Atmospheric stats.

The damage these guys do is insane, I'm running a survivability Mesa Prime build and I'm dead in less than 2 seconds with shatter shield up. And it instantly kills drones and vaults. I picked a 'bad' time to join this game and farm for the void relics before the current prime items go back into the vault.

So yeah as the title entails.

I played PS4 since launch, stopped playing for a year and switched over to PC a few months ago. Noticed I was getting one shot in Plains from time to time, no biggie, I recall the drop ships sometimes doing bombing runs from time to time and they were easy to avoid so long as you kept you eyes on the skies.

But this was different.

I was getting bombarded by an Itano Circus of rockets I had never recognized before. I'm not quite back to where I was in my old account so this isn't about being salty because of the damage- but rather the volume of the actual attack.

Like, I died LONG BEFORE this salvo of rockets was done obliterating my corpse. So I noticed this happening once every other run and recognized it was a unit I had never seen before. Heavy Gunner with an Arch-Gun.

Fancy that.

Okay, so priotize these guys first right?

Not quite so easy in the Plains given the terrain and the manner in which enemies spawn in. But with modding for that scenario I can at least give myself a window to GTFO and regroup to deal with the enemy appropriately after he's dumped his magazine.

The problem I've noticed is two things:

1. RIP Sentinels - Why after 6 or so years of their existence can we still not revive or heal them? I can mod myself to forgive harsh punishment but my poor Prime Sentinel is like wet tissue paper to a half dozen or so rocket burst.

2. On more than one occasion, I'm guarding an objective when one of these boys rolls up on me and while they are trying to kill me they one-shot the objective an cause the mission to fail. What's the lesson there? Be more psychic next time? Abandon the objective to seek them out because they might be there? Use a CC frame and cheese the objective (OKAY- fine that's probably what most of us will do eventually but that takes away from the fun doesn't it?).

Like, it takes two or three minutes to load into Cetus/Select The Bounty/Get onto the field and then in two or three seconds BRRRRR- and the Arch-Gunner accidentally defeats the objective.

It doesn't bode well.

TL;DR - Ivara Sleep Dart Standing Farm for the win.

  • Alphonso-Alonso changed the title to Plains of Eidolon Grattler Heavy Arch-Gunners in Defense (Is being Psychic a part of the mission qualifications?)

I'm glad it's not just me. I had to look up these bad boys the other day because they make absolute mincemeat out of my Umbra modded Wukong Prime with Adaptation (mods aren't max rank yet but only a couple off). Found they use a Grattler but that thing must have greater range than the Tenno version cause they can pick me off from two hills away!

Thankfully I've only really noticed them at night. I haven't had them take out a defense objective yet but I can certainly imagine the frustration...

I stand corrected. Just did a T1 bounty in PoE. Was escorting a drone and had one of them appear with a group. 2 seconds tops and the drone was dead from full health. <sigh> Hopefully this is being looked at as per what @TheGreatKazein said.

i'm surprised you hadn't seen a Heavy Gunner on the Earth Landscape before.

but anyways, Landscape Objectives Level Scale thesedays so i can't even say that the Steel Path Bounty seems like a plausibility for Heavy Gunners to be dealing the described amount of Damage.
i never found Heavy Gunners to be dealing alarming amounts of Damage at Lv60 in the past. but as always the game being broken can't be ruled out of the possibility, not in Warframe.

I took my Mech out to POE full armour and health and shield mods, was fighting with a Thumper and got owned by one of those gunners with the Grattler, the other Grineer were like bugs on a windscreen, I only wiped them away when a few built up around me but damn that Grineer with the Grattler I heard it wind up but before I could hit Storm Shroud my Mech was blown to bits.

I took more notice the next time I spawned it in.

I also created a bug report for this issue and I´ve seen several others so far, too.

Thanks for investigating!

My observation was, that this occured directly after that hotfix that buffed the friendly grineer unit on Deimos (Bounties). My guess is that units got globally buffed, not localy.
