Overheating & Heat release as a mechanic for certain weapons?

So this idea popped in my head while i was using the trumna and did a few railjack missions,

You know how Trumna has an alt fire that is charged by death,

and Railjack weapons get overheated with continuous use?

Hows about combining the two mechanics to make some old weapons do more , while also introducing a balance condition for actual use.

 

So hears the concept:

Weapons (either existing or new) that are full auto in some sense (rifles/ beam) can be provided a new mod.

The mod would create a "Over heat" gauge on weapons,

Continuous fire would increase this over heat gauge,

Pausing would make the gauge climb down.

Bullets gain bonus heat damage based on the gauge level (up to a max 75% heat damage)

whenever the gauge is full you would need to wait a short time to cooldown just like the railjack armaments (maybe not as severe?)

However using reload would throw out the clip/magazine that would do AOE damage based on the amount of bullets left in the magazine.

It will do the same elemental + heat type damage as modded,

 

this can be either a baked in mechanic or a mod:

If a mod:

Name suggested: Dirty magazines,

Effect: Reload speed + 40% , Magazine gets overheated and can explode if thrown.
