Not everything is tradable. Mainly, you can trade prime part which you drop while opening relics on fissures runs, with 10 reactant opening your relic, allowing to choose one reward among all relics opened by the squad. Once you have a prime part, you can check its average price on warframe market (internet website) and find buyer there, or on ingame trade chat. To trade, you can either set up shop in maroo's bazar, on mars (public relay) or by using the trade console in a dojo (yours or your client). You need 2FA activated to trade.

Short answer: buy it. At your level, you'd be hard pressed to have anything worth trading anyway, unless you start grinding out prime parts, which you're probably going to want anyway. If you're really looking to get into the game, the new starter pack offers Nidus, who's a pretty great frame, alongside 420p for $15 USD.

Once you've ranked up a big and have some stuff worth selling in the first place, trade chat is probably going to be a good place to start. Rare mods tend to go for a decent price, but make sure you know what's worth what. Prime frames also have a pretty decent price tag. Riven mods are by far the big moneymakers, but fair warning: some players treat Riven mods like they have real world value.

As a new player, I would recommend you not worry too much about platinum.  You don't need it.  You can get things like Warframe slots, Weapon slots, etc by doing Nightwave challenges, and that's really all you need platinum for from a gameplay perspective.  Early on, while you have a limited number of slots, just throw away weapons that aren't your absolute favorite after you've leveled them to 30 (to earn the Mastery Rank experience from them).  You do not need to keep all of your weapons, nor do you need to put Orokin Catalysts or Forma in all of them.  Reserve this treatment for only the best, and throwing out the weapons you decide you aren't fond of should be relatively painless.

As you progress in the game, get stronger, and get access to more content, you will slowly but surely start to accumulate items that other players want. Generally speaking, I would not recommend specifically farming for items that have value; just play the game and you will get stuff that has value that you can sell.

One easy way to make some platinum is Rivens.  If you get a Riven mod, do not unlock it.  Just sell the Veiled Riven; this is much easier to do than selling an unlocked Riven.  Once you are able to do the daily Sortie mission (which requires a level 30 Warframe and unlocking the needed nodes on the Star Chart) you will sometimes get these as a reward, and that's just free platinum in your pocket.

So how do you trade?  There is a chat channel called "Trade".  Go to that channel, and people will post about what they are selling or what they want.  Take a look at what people are after, and if you see someone who wants an item and you're willing to trade it for the amount of Platinum they've offered, click on their name to send them a message.  Almost all of the time, these players will be part of a clan, so they will invite you to their Dojo, which is where trading happens.  Then they will open a trade.  Just go through the process, be sure to double-check that they're giving you the correct amount, and confirm the trade to make it happen.

Note: you do not need to enable 2FA to trade.  Maybe that's a requirement on PC, but it isn't one on PS4.  You can just trade as long as you are above the minimum Mastery Rank level.  Also, your level of Mastery determines how many times you can trade per day; I think it's one extra trade per level above the minimum trade level.
