Thermal vision on open world maps pls DE.

I think it'd be really cool to have night vision and thermal vision in Warframe. Then maybe Warframe could have some truly dark maps. Most Warframe players will probably hate that idea, though, simply because it's something that's in other games and not in Warframe. Don't be too upset by the response, OP. These players acted the same way whenever anyone suggested that Warframe add open world maps a few years back. Once DE actually adds it, then they'll praise it as the best thing ever. This is just WF players being afraid of change, as they always are.

The problem with dark maps isn't spotting the enemies.  It's seeing literally anything else.  I don't want to play in areas where I have to navigate by watching the minimap because it's not bright enough to tell the difference between a doorway and a wall.  (And to be clear this *already* happens in some areas where it seems your flashlight is meant to turn on but doesn't.  Made doubly annoying because we don't have a key to toggle the light manually.)

"Oh, just turn up your gamma!"  One:  My gamma is already set correctly.  And the devs keep fiddling with the lighting engine and doing things like making Auto-Overexposure on by default, causing dark-ish areas to be pitch black while at the same time having areas that are so blown out they hurt to look at.  Venus is especially bad for this since the caves there seem to massively amplify the problem.  Two:  Turning up gamma negates the point of having "truly dark maps," since you're just bypassing the lighting anyway.

I agree. Having brown enemies against a brown background with brown foliage to obstruct your view is just a massive pain. In fact it's the biggest reason I never go to the Plains outside Eidolons and the odd Riven unveil. Orb Vallis is pretty bad at times too, but at least the enemies tend to have darker colours on them for some contrast next to the snow and ice.

Strongly agree with EmberStar. I can barely see where I'm going on Corpus ice planet tilesets or any version of ship wreckage.

Hence why I'd like to have night vision... It's a way to maintain the atmosphere that you have limited vision, while providing a way to see in the dark. It's better than having a flashlight, and it's better than just having every single map be light. You can have lighting diversity and still be able to see. They could even make it like full-color night vision if the green filter if that's a problem. It's just a better way of seeing in the dark than the current flashlights. I hope we can at least agree on that.

As for the topic of thermal vision, I don't have a problem with it. It's an option. You wouldn't be forced to use it. I never understand why Warframe players are so offended by people asking for more gameplay options.

The inability to see things that are camouflaged is part of the challenge in most games where there are actual tools to help you find them.

i wouldn't mind a thermal vision - S#&$ would be invisble in most grineer factories with fire , smoke , lasers and heat leaking machinery,

Same with night vision - ice planet crashed ship tileset would be causing blindness even more so than normal.

as long as it is part of a sniper scope option in exilus or a gear wheel option.

I have noticed with the latest update that the dark and light areas a bit more ... suitable,

dark areas do feel "the lights are out but there is ambient light" dark , and light areas dont just bloom out like they are made of radioactive materials,

if they tweak it further (like those few rell missions) then maybe thermal and night vision would make more sense.

God forbids enemies have camo in game eh?

There's camo like 'the game is designed around struggling to see each other' and then there's camo like 'we designed this enemy with the assumption that you'd be able to see them, but forgot to account for colorblind people who can't tell it apart from an air conditioner or the wall behind it.' I've had games of CoD where I've mistaken an enemy soldier for a hallway and tried to run down them, only to get blasted in the face with dual sawed-off shotguns.

Basically this, yeah. I'd be down for visual filters as a strong central mechanic, but only if they went all-in Metroid Prime-style. (tbh I thought Void Mode could've been like that; just have entire hidden paths and maybe hidden enemies scattered through the early levels pre-Void Mode so that when you revisit them, you have this wild new perspective)

Just throwing cluttered level design and hostile color palettes under a tarp called 'camouflage :D' is not it. It's gotta be a very intentional game of, 'We made sure nobody could see this until they applied the correct tool.' Otherwise it's just poor visual design.
