deferred rendering/enhanced graphics engine shadow issue

the "darkening" is just sphere around player and radius depends on shadow setting because it does change the resolution/scale of shadows.

look on trees.

while on ground that's not very noticeable, but once you on wings it becomes extremely annoying.

"classic" engine does not have this issue.

It's probably an artifact with how Deferred Rendering works at the technical level, making lighting calculations with buffers and final pixels, vs Forward Rendering (aka Classic) which calculates light with vertices and interpolates across faces. I'm very very inexperienced with the tech so I can't say if or how it can be fixed.
