Free Roam Solo Difficulty

So I've been playing solo exclusively, and noticed something very peculiar: For Free Roam Mobile Defense missions (especially Plains of Eidolon and Orb Vallis), the higher the mission level, the easier it is.  At 1-dot (Level 5-15), it only takes a small misstep and you will fail in 5 seconds flat.  At 4-dots (Level 30-50), you can run around slowly killing enemy squads one-by-one and still succeed.
It seems like some sort of combination of defense target (hacked drone) health and enemy aggro?  This cannot be intentional, can it?

This might have something to do with some bugged units. Tusk Heavies seem to be bugged at the moment and deal pretty absurd damage. If they're bugged across the board aka capable of almost instantly killing the target on low levels it'd make sense the mission is easier when the health catches up with the damage done.

The same goes for the bounty step in Deimos bounties, where you have to outperform Garv and his Grineer crew. It's almost impossible to fulfill the bonus objective in low tier bounties, because everything is dead before you even see it. The only way to avoid this is to bring a sentinel with a Dethmachinerifle, as the sentinel is even quicker in targeting things than the Grineer. As compensation, it constantly dies from the elemental procs that certain enemies do, so just a subpar solution. On higher tiers, it's not a problem, because the Grineer cannot even scratch the enemies anymore...

welcome to Warframe. there are some missions in free roam like "hold territory" you can lose on easy because not enough enemies spawn. the mastery of siege warfare: don't show up, win by default ;)

Correction - send your smallest guy to hide in some obscure place, and watch with popcorn just outside the limits as an incredibly frustrated run around looking for that one F***ING ROLLER and share some popcorn with your clone-mates.

I know this because plenty of times on Deimos nobody spawned and the bar never went down. There is something nearby, you just can't see them.

I just use the Necramech. nothing outperforms Guard Mode with it's insane damage and AoE, and it kills Genetrix easily too. with Kuva Ayanga as my weapon I can kill most infested before they get near Garv and his squad, and even if they reach him, I have higher DPS.

what annoys me is sometimes when enemies don't spawn. and then eventually a few spawn up on the "roof" of one of the infested caves, and I have to keep going between that and the ground... there's just too many defensive objectives in Deimos IMO.

It's usually above you on Deimos.

Deimos I can usually do pretty easy. The spawn rates are wierdly low for infested, so even if I can't see them I can usually find them in time.

The plains on the other hand, have recently become an absolute nightmare.

Unfortunately, at low levels a good sneeze will blow up the hacked drone. Extra frustrating with the recent bugged mobs that will insta-gib at times.

A fact that I hate with a violent seething passion.

Especially those &$^%ing facehuggers which often just forget that they are even alive and float 100+m in the air for some reason.

I'd have less of an issue with that mission type if the enemies wouldn't just get stuck on every bit of geometry due to poor pathing...

But Loza is right, Deimos is oddly easier even with the issue of flying infested or those that sit on top of the huge geometry bits, on PoE in particular because enemies love to get stuck in the ground for no reason.

I honestly take Mesa to Plains for that 1 reason. That or a frame with a MASSIVE AoE ability. Just so I don't have to actually find them.

I noticed this also. Defense targets are a lot weaker and easily get down on lower levels. Meanwhile high level defense targets can take a beating. I never failed a single high level bounty because the defense target went down, not even on SteelPath. But on low level missions I get way closer to failing the missions.
