Should theSmoking Body Ephemera be updated?

A new player/clan member who recently got the smoking body ephemera bp came to us asking about the extensive resource requirement, cost and he didn't forget to compare its (currently) lackluster visuals to the other much easier to come by ephemeras that look better. After we explained how it used to be a big deal rare drop that not everyone was supposed to have, he said he won't be crafting it because the smoke doesn't look like smoke compared to the toxic and freezing ephemeras from the liches

I mean it definitely should be updated as it dosen't even look like smoke at all just some pigmented steam as it stands currently.
Not to mention colouring it black or leaving it at base colours (what smoke should look like) means nobody will notice you have it on unless you tell them.
And its nowhere near the intensity of smoke Stalker and his acolytes have, in fact even Ash (the incredibly hard frame to farm whose systems are required to craft the ephemera in the first place) produces a much darker more dense smoke effect while casting his BladeStorm ability.

I dunno. Maybe it *should* look the least impressive, because the other ones got higher hoops to jump through

meh, it still looks OK IMO. I liked how the Old Tenebrous Ephemera looked, before they added it to Little Duck's shop. now I have to be more careful what colors I use with it, but it used to look really good.

Lich ephemeras are relatively easy to come by once they appear on your new lich, meanwhile the smoke ephemera requires grinding credits, vast resources and ash systems that are not easy to come by for players without gear or assistance.

Gotta grind Liches for the lucky one with an Ephemera. Could potentially be a far greater grind than the Smoking Body ephemera, depending on RNG

I went throught it. I have all the lich ephemeras, all the guns and the grind was not as hardcore as was grinding for the smoking body, let alone having it drop.

Meh, I like having more subtle ephemeras for some fashion frames.

I know I'm gonna shock some people but hear me out ! 

Even though I certainly indulge in it a lot myself, it's not ALWAYS about having the flashiest shiniest thing.

Nah keep it simple not everything has to be flashy.

If someone wants more flashy ephemeras then there you go get the Lich ones and keep the subtle ones

I have One Smoking Body built, and 5 Smoking Body blueprints in my foundry. They just come without any special effort, in any old mission. Can probably farm a weak level 20 stalker on Earth, like MR5 minimum I think if Starchart is cleared. RNG if Stalker appears, RNG for Drop, RNG for Ash Systems. *edit* doesn't even need to be my Stalker, can get the drop from anyone elses Stalker 

I only have like 3 of the Lich Ephemeras. They don't just appear like Smoking Body does, I gotta go do special missions for Lich Ephemeras. Liches are far tougher than minimum-level-spawning-Stalker. RNG if the Lich has it, RNG for the Lich Appearing, RNG for determining Murmurs, RNG obtaining correct Requims from fissures, RNG obtaining the Requim Relics.

You literally read my mind.

I remember farming Ash systems and praying I'd get smoking body ephemera to go with him. I thought it would be a million years since I'd get it to drop, but lo and behold, Stalker gave me a visit and I got the ephemera drop while farming Ash's systems. Did a few more runs and got a second systems, then cleared the remaining of the star chart with a clanny to do a single arbie run and craft it.

I was disappointed tbh, and for the very reasons you've stated.

Old options shouldn't be changed, somebody likes it, you like something else, your covered. 

It's a cosmetic, it doesn't need to compete, it's just an option.

i agree i normally dont even use any ephemeras, attachment, syandanas on most of my frames but thats mostly cos i do lots of captura and they get in the way
but still if im going to use an ephemera i worked my arse off to get i want people to be able to see it

Why? People in missions don't care for your fashion and people in chats will see it when you link your look it is very visible. You can see what it looked like before building it if you didn't like it you could've just not build it.

I agree the effects are bit too 2D like where the effects are following player camera to make it look “3D”. Definitely needs updating.

ig maybe its cos i normally use darker colours bcs i dont want the ephemera to completely overpower the fashionframe
and thats never been as much of a problem with other ephemeras, the point is that it shouldnt be near invisible with black energy bcs its friggin smoke its supposed to be black

what we farmed for was the cool smoke effect that stalker and his acolytes have and what was advertised in the image, not some dry pixelated .JPG pussy steam

Depends if your frame is made out of burnt plastic, then yes its smoke should be black ^^.

Thing is, it exists in this form for those that want a not too invasive ephemera. More and more ephemeras are gonna come out, I'm sure you are eventually gonna get one that's more like what you want. Changing an existing cosmetic is just an unnecessary annoyance to many players and a waste of workforce, why ask for a change when we could have outright more choice ? Just wait until corpus liches come out.

Now of course, your tastes are your tastes, nothing to be argued about that. Tho, I happen to have THE right taste, but I don't hold it against less gifted people.

If you get lucky enough for it to drop, the rest is mostly easy. Yeah Ash Systems is a pain though... I agree. 

Me I have been quite unlucky with liches and ephemeras but I got like I think three Smoking Body Ephemera BP's rng is rng though.

i agree my tastes are my tastes
i honestly dont care much for the ephemera itself cos i already have all ephemeras in the game (aside from the impact lich one and that weird bloody body one from the arbiters)
but its more to do with what it could, should, and is expected to be vs what it is,
any ephemera can be made to look less invasive if i use a darker energy the problem is that this is the only one that should not
