HOW THE F*&# DO I GET AVICHEAS????!!!!!!

(XBOX)HoneyxBadger113

Question

I have been trying for days on end, waiting for over FIVE HOURS PER GAME to try and get one, just ONE Avichea, and yet NOTHING. Am I doing something wrong? It tells me I need to go and locate it, but in conservation stuff, isn't the animal supposed to come to you? And if I am supposed to go out, WHERE DO I GO?? Do I go in the direction of the call? Why didn't DE make the tranquilizer locate animals you've called? WHY CAN'T THE AVICHEA CALLER LOCATE AVICHEAS????!!!! Please give me an answer to my first couple of questions as soon as possible. PLEASE !!!!!!!

@GrazeZeroLow so here we are, I went for a bit of a hunt and recorded the capture locations for the avichea. By my reckoning there's still about 5 or so spawn spots I didn't get that I've seen in the past but this should help you a bit. Also, increase your effects intensity to max to help you spot them easier. If you're not finding them regularly like in the video, chances are you're getting too close, spooking them and they're flying off. You see in the video how far away I shoot them from, any closer and you'll see in some instances they start to fly off. I put a map showing the locations that I'm using in this hunt, these red circles are the spawn zones for the avichea and the individual spots are in the vid.

I would love to know where these "spots" are, since my experience hasn't changed.

I'll make a video for you later on. There's probably actually more than 10. There are 4 "zones" in which they can be caught and in each of these zones there are multiple spawn locations. The same is true for all animal types excluding Vizier Predasite because they spawn like a plague.

I love doing Conservation in PoE or Vallas. Deimos' version is frustrating for several reasons. 1) Bait sometimes spawning underground or inaccessable areas. 2) The issue of enemies randomly killing the spawn. 3) Avicheas being extremely problematic where it spawns.

And I love RJ, before and after the changes, so not really relevant. It's not a case of not playing it, I finished maxing out my rep, built the frame and all weapons, and have my Necramech. Instead of being an alternate and enjoyable method of gaining rep, I have really no desire to ever mess with Deimos Conservation again (only was missing the Panzer pet also to finish for Mastery)

Well I'm glad I misjudged you. (RJ example was just that, an example).

Sorry, I have seen so many people throw around unfounded complaints just out of spite for conservation.

Now I'm really wondering how I'm not seeing any of those issues.

Precisely, I must have had a grand total of 10 stuck birds. (For the record, I hunted enough to get all floofs, the badge, everything required for ranking up and guilding every pet and I still had enough stock after that to get half the son token every day for a full month)

Apart from cats and dogs being attacked in the wild (which makes the capture easier), I haven't had any other animal be attacked. Might be because I'm always clearing the surroundings before playing the trumpet, so no collateral possible. (If you have criptilex and such being killed due to collateral damage aimed at you, it's not a bug, just clear the place beforehand, it's been the same in every other OW).

Poops and such being underground, I can only remember one instance that I thought was patched by now.

Anyway, unless for some weird reason you get those bugs 10 times more often than me, I really don't think deimos conservation can honestly be qualified as buggy.

Obviously you haven't played much conservation, going as far as paying to avoid it. So I am very curious what kind of game shattering bugs you encountered that would make you so confident, despite your unexperience with this mode, to qualify it all as buggy.

Honestly, I bought the few tokens needed with Plat, since they were a pain to farm. Conservation is the worst part of Deimos, imo. Everything else is fairly balanced, but that's buggy as can be.

How is it buggy ? Apart from 1/10 bird getting stuck into terrain (and that might have been patched by now), what bug do you even see ?

Meanwhile I did a lot of conservation and nearly never had any issue.

I'm sorry if I'm preemptively judging you, but that has a strong aftertaste similar to people saying that RJ was unplayable in mid2020, regardless of the fact that they barely played a couple mission day one and based their entire argument on this biased and outdated observation.

I'd be glad if you could prove me wrong tho, it is perfectly possible that I'm not correctly reading between the lines.

Just find a poop, follow footsteps and blow into trumpet while on call point (like every other conservation target ever), equip your tranq gun and look up (exactly like the poe birds). Done, you've found one in less than a minute.

Been doing this since the very start of deimos and except for the RARE times when it would get stuck into terrain, it works just fine.

You either have two choices:

  • Echo Lure

Their call points spawn at either behind the Cerebrum Magna or the cave beneath the Catabolic Gutter that leads out to the Undulatum.

  • Naturally/Ambiently Spawning

They are either already on the ground or flying in the air.

Avichaeas are similar to Mergoos from the Plains of Eidolon, but indeed the dominantly orange coloring of the Cambion Drift makes them very difficult to see.

If you're using the Echo-Lure, try to pinpoint their cries while you mimic their call. Otherwise, you can wait for them to fly over above the Call-Point. If you're at the Cerebrum Magna's Call Point, you need to try and find the Avichaea by highlighting it with your Tranq Rifle while standing underneath the Cerebrum Magna itself.

I've been using the lure, but the call point is usually inside the cave. The call is usually from an unknown origin, so i can't track them.

Idk for other platforms but the tranq gun highlights the animal on switch, a little hard to see in the drift tho, since it's red and orange and the highlighted animal is a reddish orange

It's the same for Xbox (I don't know which genius at DE decided that animals should glow the same color as the planet)

With the tranq gun active, when you aim with it it will beep when a conservation target is in range.  You can then scan the landscape to find them by looking for a flashing image of them (even through obstacles).  Avichea tend to be straight up, but not always.  These issues are supposed to be fixed on consoles when the next update goes live.

The images flash red, and the beeping gives no indication in what direction or if I'm near a target. It's just a constant *beep* of the same frequency.

Avicheas have been a problem since Deimos released, I had the same problem until I looked it up.

Lured avicheas appear high in the sky above the call points when you lure them. They fly, and don't come down to the call point. They can be hard to spot because they're so small.

It looks like DE is planning (or has deployed already?) some hotfixes to help with this and make them actually show up when just wandering around the Drift.

What do the hot fixes entail?
