Experience the Origin System on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X

Warframe is Bullet Jumping onto the next generation of consoles.

Our journey begins on PlayStation 5 later this year, and we’ll have more information to share about the Xbox Series X very soon.

When Warframe launched in 2013, we knew we were committed to supporting it for a long time, and we are so grateful to you for helping Warframe thrive.

The Origin System has grown so much since we first launched on consoles, and we can’t wait to start the next chapter on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

NEXT GENERATION WARFRAME

We’ve spent a significant amount of time and energy developing our new enhanced renderer to make Warframe even more visually impressive on new hardware! This rendering technology creates dramatic, dynamic lighting that follows the natural direction and strength of any given light source in an environment.

There’s no better place to see the stunning differences than on the Plains, the Orb Vallis or the Cambion Drift. The way light from the sun casts long shadows from the trees, the way foliage creates dynamic shadows as you stalk through it, or in the reflections on your Warframe as you stroll through the market square of Cetus.

On next-gen hardware, Warframe will look and play better than ever. Running at up to 4k resolution and 60 FPS means no detail will escape your eye as you dive into your next Mission.

You can also expect improved loading times across the entire game, thanks to the next generation solid-state drive! Not only will you be able to step into your next adventure faster than ever before, but you’ll notice improved texture quality across the entire Origin System.
Plus, the addition of the new Adaptive Triggers feature on the DualSense controller will make each melee Weapon swing or trigger pull feel more impactful.

This is just the beginning, Tenno. There’s plenty in store for the future as we take full advantage of the technology these new consoles offer!

FAQ

Can PS4 and PS5 Players play together?
Yes! If you upgrade to PlayStation 5, you’ll still be able to play with your Squad on PlayStation 4.

Will PS4 and PS5 updates be simultaneous?
Yes! Future updates will be simultaneously released across both the PS4 and PS5.

Will next-gen have cross-save?
There will be cross-save only between PS4 and PS5.

When will Warframe launch on next-gen?
Warframe is launching on PlayStation 5 this year! If you’re a Tenno on Xbox, stay tuned for more information in the near future.

Is there Account Migration from PC to PS5?
At this time, we are not allowing account migration from PC to PS5.

Will Warframe support 4K Resolution - 60 FPS on PS5?
Warframe on PS5 will support up to 4K Resolution and 60 FPS.

Will Warframe support Adaptive Triggers on the Dualsense Controller?
Yes! Haptic feedback will be tied to firing your Weapons. An “Enable Controller Trigger Effect” option will be available in settings should you wish to disable this feature.

Will PS4 trophies transfer to PS5?
While your progress will transfer over to PS5, your trophies will not, which means that you will have to re-unlock trophies as you play. Cumulative trophies (like “Shield Saver - Deflect 1000 Bullets with Melee Weapons”) will transfer over at 99% completion. So in the case for Shield Saver, you will simply have to deflect a single bullet with Melee weapon. However, single-action trophies earned from activities like completing Quests, will have to be redone, with some requiring other steps to fully re-unlock:

  • Quest Trophies: Replay the Quest from the Codex.
  • "This is What you Are - Fully Unlock a Focus Skill Tree": If you have already unlocked all of the Focus Trees, you will only have to change your configuration to complete the Trophy again.
  • "Reach Rank 30 with insert weapon here" Trophies: You will be required to reach Rank 30 on the weapons specified.

Will the upcoming 7 Year Warframe PS4 Anniversary also be celebrated on PS5?
Yes! Everything coming for the 7 year Anniversary on PlayStation will also be available on the PS5. Stay tuned for more information when the Anniversary goes live!

Will PS Plus be required to play Warframe on the PS5?
No! As is the case with PS4, it will not be required to play Warframe on the PS5.

Is Xbox Series X version backwards compatible?
Yes! Tenno who previously downloaded Warframe will be able to play Warframe on the Xbox Series X/S due to backwards compatibility. We'll have more information to share soon!

I really hope we can see an option for more than 60 FPS down the line. Like yeah, 4k is cool and all and the game looks phenomenal, but 120 FPS will always be better. Or at least 1440p uncapped.

"Yes! Future updates will be simultaneously released across both the PS4 and PS5. "

This is great to hear, but if it's not too much to ask - is it possible to get a "minimum timeframe" for how long you plan to support PS4/XBO? :)

I'm not planning on upgrading my PS4 till 2022+, so would be nice to know if that's a safe timeframe

Also - I understand giving generational exclusives, but please don't make mastery tied to generational exclusives (e.g. have a PS5 Activity give a weapon, which is impossible to obtain by other means).

Great news though, I'm glad you're not splitting up the generations <3

Edit: I refer to "You’ll also have new ways to keep track of your progress, and access to exclusive challenges and rewards with the Activities feature."

It makes sense to have some stuff, but I'm just hoping it'll not leave a mastery gap between PS4/PS5 and XBO/XBS|X

I have a question, currently there are 2 PS4s in the household, so we can play, if we go to one PS5 and one PS4, will we be able to switch between the two to play with each other, or once one of us moves to the PS5 will whoever does that have to stay there? (Sorry if my question isn't super clear, I can try to explain better if need be)

Right now its associated through your account, based on the current platform you are on. I would assume that once the new console is out, it will just be based on your account through PlayStation, so either should be interchangeable is my guess since you can play with people from PS4 on PS5 and vise versa.

When will account migration from Console to PC be a thing?

Probably never due to contractual obligations. It's not up to DE, especially since in the interest of fairness it'd have to be done for all consoles (XB1/NSW as well) so all manufacturers would have to agree to it before it can be allowed on any console.

Booster Pack IV is still on there.

I would really love to play warframe again, especially with the ps5 version coming out. But i have my account on the PC, and my friends stopped playing there. I have a lot of stuff unlocked there and still 2000+ platinum. Not gonna start fresh again. Would really love if there is a way for migration or cross save like destiny 2 does it.

Guess that answers my question if I will continue to play WF once I build a PC. Annoying but understandable.

Cross save? So ps5 can't play with ps4? How's that make any sense?

Its the first question answered.

Came to this post specificaly looking for this! 4k? Nice. 60fps? Great! But the use of the next gen controller? Supremely sweet!

I look to use gaming as an escape, so all factors that maximize immersion are a major plus for me! Please do keep involving haptic feedback as you go! I'd love to feel the trigger resist, let's say, when pulling a bow! I'm hoping to feel different sensations as I walk, run, jump, etc, even on different surfaces and environments.

I also know your sound team is superb, and I hope they keep pushing the sound system as we go further into the future!

This looks very promising!

I have no issue with it never happening or contractual obligations but your explanation or rather justification being fairness for all platforms needing the option before it ever happens is [insert words that reflect my dislike].

You can easily flip it around and say it's also not fair for people from one platform being kept from migration even though they could because other people decided to buy a different console and their manufacturers have to agree. Like, how is that the players fault or responsibility to wait for other consoles - how is that any more fair? It's just the other group being treated unfairly with the difference that they get an opportunity they otherwise might have taken away.

Imagine if one guy in traffic had bubble gum under his shoe and couldn't cross the green light everybody had to wait for him to get it removed before they can cross the street "in the interest of fairness". Since when became crossing the street or crossing to other platforms a competitive activity or a matter of fairness and why would it be fair to make everyone wait longer because a part might have to wait longer?

For the record: I don't care about migrating and wont do it personally. Literally don't care who can or can't migrate.

I think this statement is just an easy way to shift the complaints to player's own or other consoles and manufacturers and makes console players who want to migrate blame each other. Again, contracts, consoles very obvious financial interest to keep players on their platform etc. are absolute fine, it is how it is (although other games seem to be able to make various crossplatform activities involving multiple platforms possible quite fine) but saying it can't be implemented for each console individually and put a "fairness" blanket over it while it just screws over the other players by making them wait is just nonsense to me. The suggestion DE would tell an XBox player: "Sorry, we have the green light from Microsoft to let you migrate but you have to wait for Sony and Nintendo otherwise it wouldn't be fair." is astonishing. Following this line of thinking DE should keep PC players from getting their updates until consoles are ready to launch theirs from now on (I'm obviously not actually suggesting that since I'm aware that I gain nothing from making others wait arbitrarily).

In the interest of fairness of course.

This is neat and all, but is cross-progression coming anytime soon? I'd love to be able to play on multiple platforms, and not just on my PC, while keeping the vast amount of stuff I've collected over the years.
