Hildryn & "Rebuild Shields" - pre & post patch

So I just got access to like, tier three or four of my helminth maw. Nicknamed it "Cronenberg" of course...
And though my Hildryn is potato'd primarily for STR, I found a distinct gleeful delight after installing "Rebuild Shields" on her 1st slot.

Never cared for her blob wrist-rockets anyhow.

But now where I previously found joy in floating around and charging shields, carefully monitoring the speed of shield-loss and hovering higher to lessen it between uses of the "Rebuild Shields" ability... Now I have to drop to the floor to activate it, making myself more vulnerable and ending a once pleasant flight.

 

I've heard this was because of balance "since Pillage has the same requirement", but frankly I don't think it was necessary or fair to nerf "Rebuild Shields" like this.
For one, the ability is unlocked with a fair bit of time and difficulty invested. It's not an early-game dealio.
Secondly, the skill doesn't strip armor or shields from enemies. And for Hildryn, unless you monitor your shields closely, you WILL run out or deplete them by activating "Rebuild Shields".
Thirdly, the skill's already got a cooldown; unlike Pillage.

It doesn't need the same restrictions as Pillage; it's an entirely different ability.

It can't overcharge shields. It eats a huge chunk of Hildryn's shield TO ACTIVATE (which can trigger the shield-gating mechanic and waste it, causing it to go on cooldown for a while)...
And it has a pretty nerve-wracking cooldown.

I think rebuilt shield should be rework and rename for reconstruction and actually heal health and shield by a % overtime + grant status immunity during the duration (cooldown match duration). i really don't want to wast ressources for this ability like it is right now

Anyways though, whether you agree with them or not, this is exactly what they want you to have to do in general. This is why the limitation is on Pillage as well. They don't want you to have perma flight. They don't want people perma-channeling abilities.

You want the Warframe feedback forum though, this is general discussion.

So... You disagree on her signature weapon not being my favorite...? That's fine? It's just an opinion. I think her signature weapon is kinda lackluster since it eats her shields up to fire and is basically just a slightly different "Staticor"... But I know others like it far more than me.

However, my primary issue is the nerf of "Rebuild Shields" making it unusable mid-flight in spite of it having numerous downsides when compared to shield Pillage...

Needs 500 shields to activate and has a cooldown of 12s BTW, not including efficiency loss/gain via mods.

it maybe not your favorite but it been favored by some players.  It just annoying that DE don't like to do "buffing" her abilities for well isn't obvious, buffing 1 thing worried and seem to make the game too ezy but hey at least you don't get energy drain the battery while charging like the staticor.  Simple as that.

First off, "they wanted it to do this" is entirely why I'm saying "it wasn't necessary".
The ability has several downsides and restrictions when comparing to Pillage already and shouldn't have to deal with the inability to use while Hildryn's 4 is active ON TOP of all that.

Also, yeah, I made this post in Feedback afterwards but I can't delet THIS post...

My point is that they don't want you to have your four perma on. 

You want Rebuild Shields buffed in a different way you'll have a lot more luck imo. 

But getting them to change it into a way that would allow you to pretty much perma keep your 4 on with the right gameplay is not something they want you to be able to do.

Can't say I'm surprised that got nixxed given her 2 is inoperable when her 4 is up.

Arcanes are your friend here, if you have access to them. Give her both sheild arcanes and laugh as a hail of fire procs them while you fly around. Additional bonus is you can still use her 1 and hyper beam mobs while flying 😎

Whether they want it or not is irrelevant.

If they have no reason other than 'not wanting it', it's not that strong an argument against allowing it; all the more so when there are numerous frames with 'always on' toggle abilities of equal and greater potency.

Heck, Ember's own actively increases her damage output and DR as it climbs.

If they don't want it to be OP, sure, I get that. There's ways to fix that without removing the fun of being a hovering shield-boosting angel.

 

Furthermore, if you stick to this insipid circular logic, if the devs DO change it, then your argument makes no sense.
And why wouldn't they change it, if people want it?

 

Perhaps you've never learned anything about game design? Or about the profession of a user experience specialist?
Heck, there's even a motto for it out there on Youtube somewhur. Perchance you've heard of it, at least...
