Mission types fellow Registered Losers dislike?

Hi everyone!

Was talking to my fellow Tenno today about what mission types they disliked the most in the game.

I was curious to see what mission types people dislike in the community.

Get bored waiting for that timer to tick down in Mobile Defense? Have you got a speedrun record for Capture missions? Are you the one wanting to be saved from a Rescue? Drop a reply and let me know (Bounty missions included)! If you're feeling ambitious let me know what changes you'd like for the mission to make it more fun.

I'm in the hate timed missions camp (mobile defense, defense etc) :)

I don't think there's a mission type I dislike, but there are those I prefer doing as a team and others I like doing solo.

I like doing Spy solo, but I like doing Defense with a team.

There are other modes like Defection and the one where you have to keep A through C terminal charged, I can't remember the name of it but I think you get Harrow parts from that I wish was expanded a little more. I think they only have one node each.

Agreed!

Spy is definitely easier solo.

I also like Defection and the other you mentioned, I believe it's called Salvage...? I could be wrong. The ones with constant moving and multiple objectives are the ones that keep me the most engaged for sure.

Defense.

Defense is oddly pace-breaking with having you to kill all enemies on the map, with said enemies getting stuck in certain places. These are the tilesets that are horrid to complete Defense on:

  • Reworked Gas City
  • Reworked Corpus Ship
  • Grineer Sealabs (Orokin Ruins)
  • Somewhat the Kuva Fortress

The reworked Corpus Ship takes the cake, where form over function is seen here. Too much verticality and you have to fight the Juno Corpus, which mainly comprises of Juno Elite Crewmen and their AoE Supras.

disruption...especially Steel Path version

It's pretty difficult just on default, and especially solo. I usually run this with a squad and my Mag for best results but yeah, definitely an outlier for the missions I do as well! Though I do enjoy it more than other missions in terms of engagement.

Wow, lots of great points here.

I completely agree - Some maps are especially difficult to play on. I agree with your point that they are oddly pace-breaking. Defenses in general seem to drag (don't get me started on the Invasions with 10 waves).

Hope you don't mind if I add the Infested Defense Map on Eris to your list of worst maps to play defense on... 90% of the time I need to run into those halls to take out the enemies stuck there. :/

Defection Highjack and Interseption are the only mission types I actively avoid.

Any reason for disliking these two? I agree with Hijack because it's a really slow mission type for me personally.

I wish there was other things to do instead of just charging the Hijacked thing - Maybe some terminals to hack or a special enemy to take out? I'm not sure.

Defense is just boring. Most of the maps are big and you spend half the time just waiting for enemies. I also think it's funny that DE dislikes people camping in survivals but defense is a mission type that is just camping.

I'm not really a fan of bounties either since they all seem to be a buggy mess. I hate wasting time and failing a mission because some stupid bug.

Defection is trash because it's only there to farm 1 Harrow part.

There are some mission types I do like. I enjoy testing stupid Helminth endurance builds in survivals and disruptions. Things like no Peacmaker Mesa, no Iron Skin Rhino, Base hp Nidus that only uses Rolling Guard and his passive to survive are fun.  Removing a frames go to ability and seeing what you have left to work with and what Helminth ability complements that is a fun way to look at a frame again.

I also started speed running Ukko/Hepit for relics when Nezha Prime was released. I actually enjoyed that a lot more than I thought I would. Got a 34 second Ukko run, I want <30 but that's really just hunting a better map. I can regularly get like 40-45 second runs. With loading screens is a relic in just over a minute and easy farm for newly released primes.

Edit

I totally forgot about excavation. That is a trash mode too. Absolutely no reason to run it unless you need Cryotic. Rewards are trash and it's just mobile defense with extra steps.

I would say defection because it places alot of the game mechanics into AI pathing which may be impossible to overcome if the right warframes aren't present, in other words you slowly but steadily progress to a mission fail, regardless of how good you are.

Everything else is fine but i noticed over the years that some missions are clearly not replayed that many times and the UI despite being a basic mechanic still shows to be a struggle even for the most dedicated newbies outthere, we are talking about 1000 hour players or more that do things that make me wonder what has the player been doing.

Corpus outpost is one of the oldest tilesets in the game, yet, not many players use side entrances in rescues, if we pick lua rescues then the problem is agravated, so after years i often prefer doing them solo since it's cringy for players to still be using the front door, i prefer not to look.

Then the UI, so marking defense objectives that are already marked make mobile defense and defenses a magnet for players strugling with the UI, another popular one is Core ship sabotage, because if you swicth the outcome around, you'll see players complaining or trying to defend a terminal that doesn't need defending. I've had multiple situations where magnetic hazard is trigered, players think it's defense (the ice one), some stay and defend a terminal and proceed to complain about the speed of the mission, in the meantime i'm at extraction, waiting for everyone and then the guy complaining, being the last one to arrive to extraction, proceeds to actually wait outside extraction so the mission takes longer, what was the point of complaining about speed, if you're the last one to arrive and still intentionally make the mission longer?

These are some of the things i see that make sabotage a problematic mission, you cannot antecipate players moves without 1st practicing the missions, you cannot practice if you haven't done the mission to understand the mechanics and obviously some players are so far behind, not even the UI is understood. Mistaking ice outcome with magnetic means the player hasn't practicedd the mission, the UI learning was skiped and even the lotus guidance is negleted and yet instead of actually trying to understand things, they proceed to complain.

It's the kind of things that take me 100 replays to find 1 player  that can keep up and match me in terms of gameplay and all that is required is the understanding of the UI and maybe play the mission a few times, to keep things in perspective, if you are in a moon clan, that means a total of 3 players would actually adapt to the mission at hand.

So yeah, i hate core ship sabotage because because it's even more cringy than rescue.

In order,

- Spy

- Disruption

- Excavation

Spy is absolute BS, Disruption is a pathetic Mob. Def. Reskin, and Excavation just takes too damn long.

I forgot about Excavation! I'm not sure why that mode irks me so much. I usually just have trouble keeping those excavators alive, and like you mentioned, it takes such a long time for them to finish getting the resources.

I actually enjoy Spy because I've mastered a couple of the tilesets so that when I drop in, I can just rush through it pretty quickly but I respect your view. Many of my clanmates would agree with you though, lol!

Agree completely with Defense.

Bounties I also completely agree with. The amount of times I'm on the last bounty on one of the most difficult and high level ones that are a complete bore to go through, and then I suddenly can't hack this vital terminal or the assassination target isn't spawning? Welp, have fun doing that again for Nightwave (This happened to me last week, grr).

Cool to see how you modify your frames to enjoy both them and old mission types! Might give it a go myself if I'm feeling bored one day. :)

I'm not a fan of Interception. I enjoy Excavation but feel like the power cell spawns have become much lower in recent years so that has put a big red flag on those as of late.

Both of the above give me major anxiety when running Void Relics because I have a fear that they objective will be completed too quickly and I'll waste a relic.

If I remembered that Hijack or... um... the one where you escort greener turncoats even existed I'd add those to my least favorite as well..... but they may as well not exist to me.

I actually really like Disruption. I really enjoy the enemy density with a full squad. I just wish there was something more than an audio cue to help you locate the demo unit.... I don't always have the luxury of cranking up my volume.

Deffection because it's an escort mission that forces solo play even if you bring more than one player. Intersection for a similar reason it's beneficial to have one person stand at each point and wait to head the enemies off when they get round to attacking that point however they usually only do one point at a time when your playing in a group so there's a lot of waiting around.

This was an interesting read - Most of this seems to be about the players interpretation of game mechanics, which, you seem to have rationalized is perhaps the games UI that is causing the confusion and less adaption coming from the majority of players? (correct me if I'm wrong).

I haven't had much experience with this myself since I mainly play with my clanmates who will often hop in a voice chat so we can tackle the mission in the most efficient way (helps that they've played the game for a long time, too).

Regardless I appreciate your submission and I agree that the UI might need to be worked on to help players think of alternative ways of completing missions (perhaps in a rescue, have the Lotus suggest using alternate ways of entering? Or maybe new players will be presented with a mission description kind of like Dishonored when it introduces a new mechanic, that goes through ways of completing a mission (more ways than one?))

Making abomination builds Is really my new favorite thing to do. It gets me playing frames I never play and by removing what I consider to be their signature ability I'm playing them in a way that has not been done. I find frames that I actually like that I thought were trash before.

It's not really a problem with the UI, more that interception can be quiet boring if the relay you end up at doesn't get attacked. I will say defection is much worse especially since the more players you bring the more groups of grinner you need to escort from different places you get, so rather than having multiple people escort the groups or refill the med towers everyone has to nurse there own group and refill the med towers.

I wholeheartedly agree with Excavation - It's gotten a lot more difficult to track down those power cells, and sometimes when you head off to go find some you come back to find your excavator has died in your absense (this is mostly the case for me in Solo).

I agree with the Void Relics, too! The anxiety is real when the wave is almost complete and your below 5 reactant, haha. And it's harder to kind of tell your squad especially on public, that we should slow down and wait for some reactant before we finish the waves. Most just blindly complete the mission without taking this into account sometimes (at least in my experience).

I also agree with your Disruption analysis - They need to make it more noticeable that a Demo is on its way. The waypoint only comes up when you get close to it I believe, so it doesn't make it easy to track down and kill when they're already at thing they want to blow up, lol.

Why so much hate for Disruption, its probably one of my favs. Kinda like survival with something else to do besides - well - surviving. And the rewards are the best among all star chart gamemodes, endless C reward for relics or if you want to farm credits I easilly got a million on the node that drops the caches.

Anyway I hate anything railjack and archwing related, because it doesnt allow me to use my warframe abilities, movement and  favourite weapons while also being really boring in itself. Any other star chart mode is fine by me.
