Mission types fellow Registered Losers dislike?

Making abomination builds Is really my new favorite thing to do. It gets me playing frames I never play and by removing what I consider to be their signature ability I'm playing them in a way that has not been done. I find frames that I actually like that I thought were trash before.

I'm going to suggest this idea to my clanmates for when we're sitting around wondering what to do!

See how we all handle dusting off some frames we don't play and switching up their playstyle a bit. Cool that it's helped you appreciate some frames you wouldn't have played otherwise.

Thanks for your contribution! :)

Assassinations. Vey Hek... Or better all Grineer. Grineer are clones so... its not a real bossfight. More a "oh you again". Corpus on the other side. Machinefights (Ambulas or Raptor) are not the worst idea.

The game needs a Phorid rework.

I feel like people have completely forgotten, or wiped a few specific missions from their minds.
Might I remind you of Pursuit and Rush missions?

Rush: Quick!  Archwing your way through an extremely long and narrow Corpus corridor on a timer to go destroy shield drones to blow up transports!
Pursuit:  Quick!  Archwing after that ultra maneuverable Grineer ship while it hurls dozens of mines at you and shoot its engines which only take damage from about a 5 degree window!  Now shoot the ultra tiny weakpoints that have to be hit exactly!  Now do it 3 more times before an invisible timer fails the mission for no reason!

Those aside, I hate every single mission on the Kuva Fortress, but that's more because the fortress itself is a horrible tileset that deserves to be burned to the ground.
Hate most of the Deimos bounties because they're so horribly buggy.
Most of the other missions are at worst mildly annoying, but I don't particularly "hate" any of them.

Why so much hate for Disruption, its probably one of my favs. Kinda like survival with something else to do besides - well - surviving. And the rewards are the best among all star chart gamemodes, endless C reward for relics or if you want to farm credits I easilly got a million on the node that drops the caches.

Anyway I hate anything railjack and archwing related, because it doesnt allow me to use my warframe abilities, movement and  favourite weapons while also being really boring in itself. Any other star chart mode is fine by me.

I think the dislike for Disruption might be the difficulty spike or that it gets repetetive. For me personally I do enjoy it more than most missions.

Agreed on the Railjack and Archwing. While I have good weapons for Archwing, the mission types just aren't fun. I only use Archwing for Plains/Vallis for quicker traversal. Railjack just seemed to fall off in terms of public squads playing it, and there really needs to be more added to really engage me enough to keep coming back.

Thanks for your reply!

I wholeheartedly agree with Excavation - It's gotten a lot more difficult to track down those power cells, and sometimes when you head off to go find some you come back to find your excavator has died in your absense (this is mostly the case for me in Solo).

I agree with the Void Relics, too! The anxiety is real when the wave is almost complete and your below 5 reactant, haha. And it's harder to kind of tell your squad especially on public, that we should slow down and wait for some reactant before we finish the waves. Most just blindly complete the mission without taking this into account sometimes (at least in my experience).

I also agree with your Disruption analysis - They need to make it more noticeable that a Demo is on its way. The waypoint only comes up when you get close to it I believe, so it doesn't make it easy to track down and kill when they're already at thing they want to blow up, lol.

Regarding excavation, I feel like the problem is that the battery carriers only spawn in the vicinity of the host.... if that's even who they're spawning next to at all... But much like Void Fissures they seem to follow the same person around the map and only spawn in groups near that individual. They need to be part of the general spawn list, with a minimum required to be in play at any given time which will flat out de-spawn and respawn near a player if they are out in the middle of nowhere for long enough.

Sortie Defense, especially on the old Corpus Ship map. Can you just stand bloody still for one moment? Please?

Defection. Takes too bloody long.

Kuva Fortress Rescue. Takes me a while to find a way in. Too much of a while.

Lua Rescue. Forces me to pause my YouTube video or podcast and put my headphones on, then makes me run around looking for the exit.

Defection: I only ever did it for Harrow farm and the on the rare occasions it shows in sortie.
Excavation: Not that this mission type is hard, but only getting 100 cryotic per drill makes the grind for 30k cryotic for Sibear unbearable.

Disruption: Only because I can never seem to get the Acceltra, but I get the Akarius all the time.

Agreed.

When you've done the assassinations before, kind of meh.

Plus, I wish more of the bosses related to the Warframe you were getting from them? I like Sargas Ruk for this reason because you're getting Ember and while not outright a direct nod to the Warframe, the fire theme at least relates, and I think even Ash's old boss (Tyl Regor) used to have this kind of dash moving ability ala Ash's final ability before he moved to Uranus after rework.

Now when you fight Ambulas it's like... How does this boss have any relation to the frame I'm obtaining from them? Just my personal little nitpick. I felt like it made getting frames a bit more interesting back in the day.

Thanks for the reply! :)

Ah, Defection. That's the other one I always forget exists that I'd dislike if I ever remembered it exists.

I think there's a reason people 'repressed' those Archwing modes lmao!

Archwing in general just needs a rework in terms of mission types. The Grineer ones work okay, but everything's too far apart in space. Corpus is wayyyy too closed in, and it's like your fighting with the controls bumping into everything constantly.

The Fortress is so horrible to traverse. I feel like I'm constantly getting stuck or lost, and there's really no replay value for that place aside from Kuva Survivals and Requiem Fissures. It's kind of the same issue the Void has where there's no point to it anymore since Void Keys went out the window years ago with Relics taking their place. Wish there was more to do there, too. It's a good tileset.

I'll need to play more Deimos to see if it's buggy reputation lives up to that, but based on how I remember the Plains and Vallis launches (both of which STILL have bounties that are buggy)...

Thankyou for your reply! :)

Lots of warranted Kuva Fortress dislike. As I said in another reply to someone else, there needs to be more to do there... And a revamp of the tileset. It's a shame because I really like the style of the Kuva Fortress.

Probably interception, defection and salvage. Maybe throw in defense and/or mobile defense in. I dislike having to wait in a certain spot while the enemies come to me. It's usually the other way around, so having to wait around for NPC's (defense and defection) or timers (interception, salvage, mobile defense) simply annoy me to death. Definitely my least favourite mission types.

My favourites are survival, rescue and spy (and exterminate and assassination, but these last two depend on the map and the boss)

Agreed on the first two. Disruption I don't really mind personally as a mission type overall.

Excavation... I already did some detailed replies on someone else's post here, but TL;DR, those excavators are a pain to defend and those power cells are a pain to find.

Agreed. Waiting around and watching the enemies trip over themselves while trying to get to you and the target your defending, then you just shooting them and moving onto the next while the timer ticks down or the enemies hide away from view so you need to run out and get them... Just hurts me with how boring and loooong it is. There needs to be some kind of change in the defense mission types IMO or just remove it altogether. I hate Mobile Defense just as much, but at least there's more time to run around.

Survival's are still pretty enjoyable for me too. Rescues are too easy for me and so are spies, but I enjoy being stealthy and avoiding the Corpus/Grineer lasers and other obstacles that would alert enemies during spies.

Thanks for your reply :)

Yeah, Defection wouldn't be too bad if it's one group per rotation or if you could speed things along by, say, escorting two groups at once. But nope, gotta babysit them one group at a time, and do it twice for each rotation.

Anyway, just remembered that Steel Path Incursions is a thing, so I've been putting together an automatic Pass list in my Quick Notes. Still WIP, but so far:

All Assassinations except Vay Hek, Mercury Vor and Ambulas. This applies to Sorties as well - just done with ole' Edgy McEmoface in general. Some of the SP ones are truly horrible, though, like Mutalist Alad V and Ropalolyst.

All Defense missions. Again, takes too bloody long.

All Disruption missions. I normally like Disruption missions, actually, but dealing with Demolishers in these Steel Path variants is like trying to file down a brick with your teeth.

Grimaldi, Lua. That I have to fight the Sentients is bad enough. That the hack timer stops until I kill them is just too far.

Primarily solo player context.

Excavation: Oh look, i'm drilling for Cryotic. Oh look.. I'm stuck playing my Frost again, who would have thought. And of course, Power Carriers just won't spawn all of a sudden, how fuuuuun.

Defense: I'm falling asleep before the enemies all filter in two-by-two. Sponge Path against armoured factions is so tedious here, also special mention for those unreasonable Juno Elite Crewmen now being an unceasing stream of cheap 'Acceltra using the Supra's model'. Even I break out the Saryn for non-sponge Defenses, just so I can counter the spawn BS with my own BS of spores spreading 100m away.

Disruption and Interception: These get a mixed mention because I cannot be in four places at once. Whether that's contesting spread Interception recaptures, or having to explore four or more hallways of possible approach points to find the Demolysts... Oh, and the Demolysts deserve their own special mention for making life extra diluted because all you get to do is DPS race them, thanks to Nullification pulses and explosions not being range-limited once the wind-up is triggered.

Other than some problems with the Solo Enemy Spawn Rate, I think the rest of the chart missions are pretty much fine. Even Defection isn't that bad these days, I think most of the hate it got was because the Pacifism Defect was the biggest mistake of an event DE ever created.

Bounty category:

Liberate the Camp (PoE): This almost progression-stopped me on Steel Path, because it's SO ridiculous you need to have almost zero time-to-kill on any unit that you actually find. Dropships count against you, and the units ON the dropships count against you, even if they're stuck in a tree 200m away. Rollers that wander off. Units going AFK in corners and tunnels instead of actually coming to fight in the area. Awful.

Most PoE Bonus Conditions: They DON'T WORK. Capture 'no-kill' rules that fail because a rat fell over a mile away, or Vomvalysts simply exist, or your companion attacks something while you're powerless to stop them. Liberate the Camp.. bonus is luck at best, because LtC is broken. Assassination and Exterminate can just not spawn enough fast enough for it to be possible. Total mess. Find Caches, Armoured Vault and Escort Drone are all okay though.

Capture the crates (OV): Another 'multiple places at once' issue. Playing solo? Better hope you've ground up your Operator and given them a beefy Amp to fight with, because otherwise the bonus of never allowing enemies to capture is forbidden.

Isolation Vaults (CD/Deimos): The Necramechs are not designed to be fought openly. It's almost impossible to deal with them without some sort of cheese, but they also do everything possible to remove cheese with their Magical Mystery Interference that makes skills delay activation, go on cooldown, nullify off, Operators to be forced back to frames, etc. Precise locational hitboxes do not mesh with twitchy animations or having no delay in facing a target when you're a solo player trying to hit the final rear weakpoint, much less the fact that daring to stand and aim for a second usually results in you getting obliterated. Thankfully, at least the damage reflect on Voidrigs is now gone...

Defection and Defenses with big maps that allow enemies to be stuck in the terrain or taking cover too far. Nothing else, I like almost every mission except Defection. It just take too lonng, the squads are too slow, lose health too fast, I have to babysit them regardless the frame or my opertor school (oprobably Vazarin if I'm on Defection), it's everything I hate from scorts mission but, somehow, even worse.

Interception. I never do it solo.

To be fair, this is more of a "git gud" scenario for me.

When an enemy is trying to hack the tower back, dash with your operator with a magus lockdown the closer you can to both computers or dash just 2 times, 1 time in one computer and 1 in the other. Magus lockdown interrupts the enemy progress when they are trying to regain control of a tower. This is honestly the easiest way to do it with a slowva, you make them slow and if someone want to be a hero, take lockdown and then you give them steel...

This was an interesting read - Most of this seems to be about the players interpretation of game mechanics, which, you seem to have rationalized is perhaps the games UI that is causing the confusion and less adaption coming from the majority of players? (correct me if I'm wrong).

I haven't had much experience with this myself since I mainly play with my clanmates who will often hop in a voice chat so we can tackle the mission in the most efficient way (helps that they've played the game for a long time, too).

Regardless I appreciate your submission and I agree that the UI might need to be worked on to help players think of alternative ways of completing missions (perhaps in a rescue, have the Lotus suggest using alternate ways of entering? Or maybe new players will be presented with a mission description kind of like Dishonored when it introduces a new mechanic, that goes through ways of completing a mission (more ways than one?))

It's not that the UI that is the problem, it's the interpretation

If a defense target is marked, what is the point of adding a 2nd mark? They do not know what the original icon means, that's why they add more.

The sabotage is identified correctly by lotus and the UI, but player often confuse the 4 defense targets with the terminal icon, which doesn't need to be defneded because there is no health, lotus specifies to avoid lockdowns, it has nothing to do with defending the terminal.

I see this on sorties, steel path, which are very advanced areas, now imagine how cringy it is when you don't even know certain elements of the UI.

I dislike solo unfriendly game modes so:

  • Disruption
  • Defection
  • Interception

Then there are game modes I just find boring

  • Excavation - it's just endless mobile defence the only thing that keeps mobile defence off this list that it's only 3 consoles
  • Hijack

Then there is the one game mode I will never play because if I wanted to defend a suicidal lunatic I would work in a crisis call centre.

  • Operative Defence

Mission types I avoid or actually ignore:  All things Archwing and Railjack.  Disruption.  Interception.  Excavation.  Rescue.  And most definitely Lua Spy - I hate that map nearly as much as I despise PVP.

Missions types I did once for completion credit and will ignore outright:  Eidolons, Orb Mothers.  I'm not skilled enough at writing to express everything I think is wrong with those, and absolutely no one cares what I think anyway.

I'm not overly fond of Capture, because it really annoys me that what looks like a "damn civilian" is somehow almost immune to *EVERYTHING.*  It's also a big part of the reason I hate Disruption.  Damage immunity is a cheap design tactic.

I don't like defection and try to avoid it. It's slow and requires too much attention split on different things: healing, speeding, killing enemies. In squad it feels easier, but it's still too slow. I also feel sad because defection was introduced in event and not in quest (like Index), so I have no chance to experience that piece of story.

I don't like disruption. However I regularly play it (at least every prime access), but I feel strange every mission) It relies too much on DPS. I think once capture targets were more challenge than demolysts are now, and I'm afraid of how tanky enemies will be in future mission types)

With same reason I slightly disliked Scarlet Spear: we had to deal with swarm of enemies who once were minibosses. It's like if we had a mission where we had to kill multiple copies of every assassination target from starchart. (Actually, it sound's quite interesting). That's why I actively participated only in space part because it could be dealt without having incanely high dps. (I'm a newly registered loser so I still haven't reached the damage peak yet :D). DE also bugged the space part: railjack enemies had same level as ground enemies, while their scaling is much more steep.

I don't like assassinations with keys or tokens. Tokens have to be collected (sometimes it takes long), and that's all - for a chance of necessary drop. When I was getting Saryn and Chroma a year ago, I had more than 10 neuroptics and chassises each before I got two systems.

Openworld missions - even so frustrating as eidolons or orb mothers - feel more exciting because they are open world. Visuals are excellent, there are a bit more activities than usual (fly, ride on kdrive, fishing etc). So bad feelings are nullified by overall good impression. The orbs also have cool voices.

I was curious to see what mission types people dislike in the community.

modes I will do if i'm after a reward, but am not overly fond of:

- Interception: strange how in a game with this much mobility that I would dislike a mode that requires you to keep moving between points but I'm just not a fan. it's also a reminder of those dark days back when I played Domination on CoD. I'm sure the B in point B stands for "Bodies, Bodies everywhere!"

- Defection: most gamers hate escort quests, I'm no different. escort missions are bad enough when the I is smart-ish and the enemies are few... so in a horde shooter with AI dumber than a bag of rocks? yeah. the grind for Harrow's helm or w/e it is in rotation C didn't help either. Kavor defector's pathing is horrible, they're slow (certainly sluggish for a group of people who are supposed to be running for their lives, from both Infested and vengeful Grineer Manics) and the emphasis isn't on killing.

- Infested Salvage; dear god this mode is atrocious. as I'd never even tried JV it took me forever to figure out what to do (and why my screen was goign funny) and I honestly don't remember now since it's been years since I last did it. Nidus' quest was bad enough with it's many forced Index rounds, but tot hen have to farm that mode endlessly was the turd on the cake. thankfully got a coupon and bought him outright, very glad I did. I never want to go back to that mode unless it offers something I genuinely can't get any other way.

- Archwing: despite not suffering from Motion sickness issues (thank goodness) I still hate Archwing for the controls (what've we had, like 6 control reworks and it's still not that great?), the Corpus Tile is absolute GARBAGE, and I even had the *wonderful* experience of playing Archwing Defense before it was axed. yep, you read that right. ARCHWING. DEFENSE. it wasn't as bad as you might think.. it was WORSE. so... SO much worse. I did a little jig when DE revealed Railjack was goign to be put into these missions, at least now it'll be bearable, perhaps even OK.

every other mode I can handle without complaint, though I will give dishonourable mentions to the following:

- bounties: specifically Deimos Bounties and the myriad of different ways you can defend an area form infested. then defend another area from infested. and then -get this - you have to defend another area. from what, you ask? why the Infested of course!

-Iso-Vault bounties. the Cortege farm was horrible, and after seeing feedback from Deimos Arcana's launch, I'm NOT looking forward to goign back, unless there are considerable changes to the convoluted and frankly pi$$-poor bounty tiering system.

- Excavation: because of the damn carrier spawns, which are still an issue sometimes.
