Mission types fellow Registered Losers dislike?

Most Endurance missions, with the possible exception of disruption and maybe Interceptions when it works right. Even in an inherently repetitive game, they're just too repetitive, usually only doing one very specific thing. Usually 'kill enemies whilst only staying in one room'. Compared to, say, Deep Rock Galactic, which still has modes like that, it tries shake things up. Like its defence mission equivalent is mixed up with an escort mission, a bit of its traditional mining gameplay and a boss fight.  Or On-Site Refining and Point Extraction, which has you operating in and around a single, unmoving 'base' still has you wandering around and exploring the environment a bunch.

Interception would be more fun if it worked right, but the enemies are usually in very short supply and almost always rush only one point at a time, at least in solo. Kind of ruins the fun or appeal of having four points to defend at once.

Any missions on Uranus that involve underwater segments are definitely my least favourite, which is a shame since the tileset theme looks more interesting than usual, and some above-water segments of missions are unique enough to be interesting in themselves

Least favourite specific game mode is probably Defection, since it's just a slower Rescue mission with much slower groups of NPCs who lack teleporting skills (the only reason Rescue isn't a nightmare like typical escort missions in any game)

Hijack and Sabotage go onto my "most mundane" list, and generally I only put up with Defense when power-levelling

Railjack is definitely worth mentioning, but I don't exactly think it's fair to throw an obvious alpha gamemode onto a "least favourite" list, so I guess technically "Skirmish" is my least favourite overall, by far

Its almost unplayable if you're hearing impaired (certainly much more difficult)

With the effort they put into making high contrast and color blind features for the UI the least they can do is make some sort of similar feature for the demo units.

I hate when Capture turns into an Exterminate...

THATS NOT WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR...

I actually wish there would be more dynamic missions in the game. Like a random defense or spy target in a capture mission to lure out or locate the target or after capturing the target their intel suggests you need to extract data from a spy mainframe. Maybe if you failed a spy mainframe you're asked to just flat out destroy the station so it becomes a sabotage mission. Maybe during any non-endless mission type there is the chance to discover Infestation spores and it become an extermination or sabotage.

I would love the sort of dynamic missions, especially if they add life to the game world. They could spin small stories and show that we Tenno are part of the world, not the center of it.

spy mission already sort of do this. If you raise in alarms in 2/3 or more often 3/3 spy vaults lotus will change it to an exterminate with a unique vo about getting rid of all the witnesses

Lotus: "We cannot let enemy command know we were here. Eliminate everyone."

Lotus: "We've set off too many alarms. Eliminate all remaining enemies so that news of our infiltration does not reach high command."

OP, I think you've gotten a good amount of feedback which already covered mine.  But as I only looked at page one, the one I dislike the most..

'Change of Plan'

I'm sorry, I came in for one particular set.  You changed the plan on me, and if i I don't agree, just freaking let me leave with what I picked up.  Esp as CoP only seems to happen after the original objective got completed.

Now if it gave the option of complete new mission or leave splash screen (kinda like continue defense runs), and increase my rewards, I probably wouldn't mind it as much.  We had a contract agreement and now you go and change it on me?

Personally the ones I dont like are;

  • Defection (the mechanics are fine, I'm just not a fan of it, but im kinda tempted to give it another try)
  • Defense in most cases. Unless I have a full team, and on Hydron. Too bad its dead in Steel Path smh
  • Hijack is just a slow, uneventful experience that forces you to stay in one place (no abilities too). Although, it should still be utilized as the midpoint between two intense mission types (as a tension breaker)
  • Infested Salvage for me, in theory, sounds neat, but in practice, not so much. Not sure why yet though (especially if i have to do it over and over again to farm a Nidus part, which is on me, to be fair)
  • Sabotage, I dont like the Grineer Galleon one, but like both of the Corpus versions.
  • Rescue in most cases, but I like when im forced to go stealth to save the captive, instead of guns blazing

For some reason, I dislike mobile defense and just don't bother when it shows up in something like sorties or a syndicate mission. It's funny, there's some objectively worst missions types like defection (which I like the concept of but I don't think it was well implemented/upkept) but I find mobile defense boring. On the other hand, I like regular ol' defense. No idea why...

That is a weird question for me to answer. Lol!

It actually depends on the squad I have. I hate interception, defection and disruption...unless i have my go to squad or a general good squad. Then, it's the opposite. In contrast, I absolutely love spy missions solo because I can go full metal gear solid and take my time in stealth. Same with exterminator. It's not the mission but more the situation.

Ah yes...

The only mission type i really avoid is defection. The others are situational.

When im solo i tend to prefer sabotage, spy, capture or exterminate.
In a group most others are fun, unless the group is just bad. A decent group when doing excavation to pop relics compared to a bad one is basically the difference of actually opening relics quickly or potentially not at all. Railjack is definitely fun with a decent team, or it used to be at least. Now its kind of broken due to the invisible walls all over the place and because everyone just runs tether to vaporize all the enemies. It was a lot more fun before the enemies were nerfed into the ground and made the whole thing braindead easy, even when solo.

Missions i absolutely cant stand in any form are eidolons and the orb mothers, both are just way too much of a mess of FX and/or enemies all over the place for my taste. The isolation vaults are however fine with a decent team, even if the necramech fights are extremely messy with random near instant death due to damage reflection.

I can't stand defense. It's so slow and boring, the enemy spawns are never good, and the time between rotations is way longer than most missions. I loathe how there's no indication of how far through a wave you are, and it staggers the spawns out really slowly. I also have never been a fan of being very stationary in the game, so having one point you stay at all mission sucks.

Completely agree. I actually forgot about this happening (Capture becoming Exterminate) until people mentioned it in this thread.

I believe it's because people can speed through Captures, thus forcing players to stay longer. But, in that case, there should be a higher reward or another objective. I think there used to be TWO Capture targets (I could be wrong but I do remember this happening on higher levels?) This actually made the mission not so easy to rinse and repeat and more enjoyable in a solo and non-solo experience.

Changing to an Exterminate is just annoying and it makes little sense.

Thanks for your contribution. :D

Don't like interception, conclave.

You may have seen my other posts on this thread about how I actually enjoy interception so I won't get into that here.

I've actually had quite a good time on Conclave, but only with friends on a voice call. This makes the gamemode more fun, so I'd suggest giving it a go with a group of friends where you can all freely communicate (avoid Lunaro at all costs, though).

Otherwise I understand the dislike for it. Conclave never really worked well even in the early days of Conclave, where your gear had the same stats as normal and wasn't altered/nerfed. This resulted in lots of one shot kills in Conclave because people could just bring in a spray and pray weapon and annihilate the entire enemy team.

Even now in Conclave I get complaints from friends who dislike certain Frames using certain abilities, which is ridiculous because you should be able to use that frame as it is: A weapon. Though I am inclined to agree with them sometimes because abilities CAN be overpowered even in present day Conclave.

What I would suggest DE to do to improve Conclave (which they probably won't, lets be honest, but I can dream) to have Conclave Type Warframes where their abilities are altered for a more fun and fair PvP experience.

Thanks for your contribution! I apologize for my lengthy reply - Just haven't seen Conclave on here yet (I don't think?)

Hijack and Mobile Defense. Not really a big fan of Defense either, it just gets way too static. Defense should be combined with hijack and mobile defense imo and have us guard a mobile target that moves from location to location to hack terminals (or do something else) while having enemy hit squads sent after it that we need to defeat. Then real hijack could be implemented in Railjack, so we need to take over something and get it to a specific location afterwards, like stealing a prototype ship, a specific box of cargo or something.

Hot take, I actually dislike Interception the most out of every mission type (not counting Defection, which they could remove tomorrow and I'd advocate we throw a parade on its grave).

I never liked any sort of "king of the hill" type game mode though, no matter what game it shows up in.

Largely depends, I have a number of mission types that I love and hate but it depends on what I've been playing (or in some cases forced to play to get what I want). Right now the mission type I got the biggest bone to pick with is cetus bounty "Liberate the Camp". Since I'm currently after the revenant frame neuroptics, there is almost a guaranteed chance I have to run this mission, and there is usually a good chance I will fail it because it is too busted to reliably do solo and even in squads the mission can fail at times. Extremely large area, sporadic and sometimes incredibly hard to find enemy spawn locations, and a control percentage that the mission likes to drop like a bad habit. Win or lose, I have no idea how I did it and I can't apply it reliably to whenever it comes up as I have to keep doing the bounty over and over because the thing I'm after won't show up in the rewards.

Any basic starchart mission that doesn't have anything useful in the reward structure or doesn't have a reward structure to begin with.

Of the game modes I will play purely for enjoyment and not progress, it would be easier to name those than to name the ones I dislike.  I like core gameplay, but most mission mechanics are severely lacking or downright awful.
