[OOC/Character listing] Gauging interest - Depths of the Vallis

Recommended Posts

Digging deeper than ever before, the Corpus have awakened something that was sleeping under the ice. Whatever it is, it is abducting and, presumably, killing both Corpus and Solaris at a devastating rate. Nef Anyo's lips are shut tight about the affair, but Little Duck knows that he knows someone who knows at least something, and she intends to find out exactly who knows, how they know, and whatever exactly it is that they know. She also knows the people best suited to the job of extracting such knowledge, and also putting an end to unpleasantnesses, are the Tenno.

To that end, Little Duck, Biz, and Eudico have sent out a call for Tenno to attend a little meet 'n greet in the back room where they make the big plans. They will disclose the details of the planned operation after the Tenno have a chance to talk and meet their teammates,

---

Notes and Rules:

For rules, I like things to be as loose and free-form as possible. Let me know if there is a specific thing you need to hear.

It seems like people don't like the moon kids thing very much, so for our purposes a Tenno is anyone who can Transfer themselves into a Warframe.

I intend to play my own character in the thread, and will reserve the use of canon characters for myself at least until we enter the vallis.

---

If you're interested, please post a brief rundown of your character including:

Name

Race/Faction (if not Tenno)

Appearance

Personality

Misc

---

My own character:

Name: Suno Kasha

Race: Tenno

Appearance: Suno is a scrawny, pale young woman with starchy blond hair and sunken hazel eyes. She stands at around 5'2" outside of her Warframe: a Gara she rarely leaves the safety of.

Personality: Suno is seemingly lackadaisical and prone to day dreaming and wandering thoughts. Beneath the surface, she hides a cold, calculating intelligence that is, unfortunately, hindered by its own internal digressions and tangents. She is extremely risk-averse, preferring to set up barriers and engage enemies from a distance. Deeply insecure about nearly everything.

Misc: Wields the legendary zaw "Pickle Slicer" in honor of an old mentor. Looks up to Cressa Tal. Runs guns for Solaris Vox and Steel Meridian. When it comes to finance, could be described as "insane small business owner." Favors the Komorex for its versatility, but isn't the world's greatest shot. Carries a Pyrana to make mid range problems go away fast.

---

Please also reply with any questions, concerns, or if there's something I clearly don't understand about How Things Work Around Here.

Two Grineer, comin' up.

Name: Anak (Whether this is her first or last name is unclear.)
Race: Grineer, Heavy Gunner strain, Arson Eximus
Age: Appears to be in early 20s by human standards, but precise age is unclear
Appearance:

Spoiler

Physical Build: Standard heavy gunner eximus.  297cm (roughly 9'9") tall, lanky, lean yet muscular.

Facial Features: Normal for a grineer.  Blotchy skin with pretty much every human shade on it.  Left eye is a very pale green, right eye has been replaced by an implant.  Straight black hair, short and greasy yet fuzzy.  Hates when people scruffle it.

Clothing: Standard heavy gunner arson eximus.  Orange armor.

Personality:

Spoiler

→ Although Anak is perfectly able to interact socially with other people, it is firmly outside her comfort zone and she would prefer to avoid it.  She doesn't talk much, but when she does, she seems completely normal and has become adept at hiding her discomfort in social situations.  (In real life, Anak might be recognized as slightly autistic.)
→ Able to focus very single-mindedly on a goal, but has difficulty doing so if the goal is imposed on her by someone else.
→ Doesn't like having to rely on other people, or being in a position of responsibility with other people relying on her.
→ Prefers peace and quiet to the alternatives.

Backstory:

Spoiler

What better luck could a Grineer clone have?  Strong, healthy, intelligent, of the favored sex, and endowed with the arcane power of an Eximus.  One could do very well with such genes.

And she did.

What Grineer clone wouldn't want to be a high-ranking officer in the Drekar corps?  Who wouldn't want such an important job as overseeing a data-storage facility full of cloning sequences?  Who wouldn't want such a position of power?  What Grineer clone wouldn't want to serve the Queens?

She didn't.  So she left.

Anak has traveled across the system, learned the ways of money and self-sufficiency in Fortuna, learned the ways of calm focus in Cetus beneath the Unum, learned the ways of freedom and of the forest in Iron Wake... But she hasn't found peace.  And she needs to make a few credits.

Equipment and abilities:

Spoiler

→ sheev: Standard-issue Grineer knife, unmodified.  More of a tool than a weapon.
→ kitgun: gaze-lovetap-splat.  Basically a high-powered laser cutter.  Also more of a tool than a weapon.
→ Eximus ability: Anak does not carry a proper weapon, instead relying on her firebending eximus ability, even though her size allows her to fire even large weapons such as the quellor one-handed.  Besides the unfocused fire blast of fear or anger, Anak can, when calm, use her eximus ability in more refined and focused ways, such as throwing fireballs at distant targets or cooking food with her bare hands.
→ Floater:

Spoiler

Floater started out as a sensor regulator that Anak took with her when she defected.  Since then, Anak has added a modified harpak that acts as both a weapon and a grappling hook (and could potentially be the basis for a rope harness system), custom combat avionics that allow the harpak to be used (originally from an osprey, and the source of endless software compatibility problems), and improved data storage (a not-insignificant portion of which is now devoted to porn uhhhh, classified material).  Floater's visual sensory equipment can be routed to Anak's ocular implant, giving her excellent, if somewhat unreliable, augmented vision.  Floater does not have a proper AI or any personality of its own, except that Anak has programmed it to address her as "Sinker" (cuz floater and sinker, right?  not funny?  She thinks it is.).

Languages:
Grineer: native
Orokin English: quite fluent, with hardly any Grineer accent

---------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Kelekh Deig
Race: Grineer, Drekar Ballista, Arctic Eximus
Physical Age: 15 years out of the cloning tube, but appears to be in late 20s by human standards (because Grineer age fast)
Mental Age: mid 20s
Appearance:

Spoiler

Physical Build: 187 cm (roughly 6'1.5"), fit but not muscular

Facial Features: right eye replaced with a large, chunky ocular implant, left eye just straight-up missing and covered with an eyepatch.  Left arm and left side of face are badly scarred.

Clothing: Standard ballista arctic eximus.  White and blue armor.

Personality:

Spoiler

→ Kelekh is a cold, manipulative a-hole.  But, she does truly have the best interests of her brothers and sisters at heart, even if it doesn't always seem like it.  Very prickly in social interactions, yet has been known to act selflessly for the benefit of her brothers and sisters
→ Never raises her voice.  Instead of shouting over someone, she will wait for them to shut up (however long that takes), or just walk away if she decides they aren't worth her time.
→ Avid reader of pretty much everything.  Interested in politics and philosophy, and generally takes a humanist position
→ likes sunshine
→ makes ice sculptures, both as a hobby and as a way to practice and refine her Eximus ability

Backstory:

Spoiler

Kelekh served in the Grineer Sealab on Earth (in-game, this is the Marianas node).  At some point, she was injured by shrapnel and fire from a gas line rupture.  After several years of reading and listening to samizdat non-Queen-endorsed material, furtively distributed among her comrades, she eventually decided it was time to act.  One day, she took the elevator to the surface, stole a watercraft, and left.  Since she was an experienced, high-ranking female, no-one bothered to question her until it was too late to stop her.

Equipment and abilities:

Spoiler

→ vulkar
→ sheev (rarely used)
→ ocular implant allows her to see infrared and UV.  It also includes a laser rangefinder, allowing her to have some sense of depth perception, despite only having one "eye".
→ Kelekh is a skilled sniper with extremely good aim.  She is adept at blending into her surroundings, and is able to spend long periods of time without moving, yet still awake and alert.
→ Arctic Eximus ability has been refined through practice, mainly involving ice sculptures.  Able to create temporary structures from ice.  Instead of carrying a knife or secondary weapon, uses eximus ability to throw blades, shurikens, or chunks of ice, or make a knife or sword from ice.

Languages:
Grineer: native
Orokin English: quite fluent, but still has a noticeable Grineer accent

I'm going to bring two Tenno in, if that's fine. If not, then it's only Kacilius.

Name: Kacilius Venrai

Faction/Race: Tenno

Age: Looks like he's in his 20s, but is physically thousands of millennia old.

Appearance: Wears the Emissary Suit and a Cogna Mask. He has a average build, meaning he doesn't stand out too much in a crowd. He has cyan-purple eyes that glow purple due to exposure to the Void. His hair is short, dyed purple/cyan with white highlights.

Personality/Backstory: Generally friendly and open to helping others. Kacilius harbors a dark side that emerges when he's enraged, turning him from a casual happy kind of guy to a ruthless, cold killer. This happens because in the past, Kacilius was captured by Grineer who found his cryopod and tortured before the Corpus found him, who THEN tortured him and used him for experiments. After escaping, he wandered alone before he found other Tenno and joined them.

Equipment: Mainly Equinox Prime, with a Clisthert Helmet and the Prime body, with the Dex Raksaka Chestplate, Eos Prime Shoulder Plates, Pakal Leg Guards and Enthra Syandana. It is colored a deep purple, white, dull purple, and orange for primary, secondary, tertiary and accents respectively. Generally uses Stradavar Prime, Tigris Prime, Dex Furis, Velox, Ceti Lacera, Glaive and Redeemer Prime as weapons, although may use other weapons as well. Usually accompanied by a Moa named Mech of Annihilation (bonus points for people who get why it's named that) and a Vasca Kavat affectionately named Vampkitty.

(Note to @UnremarkableUsername: Due to differences between The Golden Spire and this RP, should we have a fresh start between Anak and Kacilius?)

Name: Vlad (Last name unknown)

Faction/Race: Tenno

Age: A man that looks about 40

Appearance: Wears the full Emissary Suit. Tall build, with short black hair. Crimson red eyes due to exposure to the Void.

Personality/Backstory: Vlad is basically your stereotypical edgelord. Pretty silent and cold, one wrong look and he'll probably jump you when you turn your back. Very skilled in stealth and silent eliminations.

Equipment: Dons an Ash Prime colored in crimson red and black. Wears the full Pakal Armor set and Syandana. Usually uses the Dread bow, Despair throwing knives, and Nikana Prime in combat.

@EpicdudeXWell ive already included two grineer for one player so i  may as well include two tenno.

I see you have a couple of grumpy characters, which is fine, but I'd like it if you kept your characters from being abrasive to the point it's hard to write around. You seem experienced so I'm gonna go ahead and trust you.

Anyway, you can either introduce your characters into the thread now or wait until I've replied to the most recent post.

I'll keep it from getting too out of hand. Kacilius has more of a "xenophobic" trait that I'm trying to change, while Vlad is a new character, but I'll keep them in check.

Been thinking of maybe getting in. Although all I can add is either any of my 5 tenno oc's or my only grineer oc

I'd say you can pick more than one, but I'm thinking it might make for better character interactions between players if they only played one character at a time. I guess that's like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube tho, so if you think you can make it work you can pick two.

I put in two with the intent of bouncing their personalities against each other, but this wasn't really necessary.

Yeah I"m not trying to criticize anyone's writing, it's been solid, I"m just thinking, from a gameplay standpoint it makes more sense to me to try to force the players to bounce off of each other.

Heh, great metaphor. Anyway, think it will be easier for me if I pick one. All of my OCs are different, so I guess I could pick one based on the personality that's "lacking" currently in the "group"
