AlyxisPrime
I've just run a test with it and it does seem that the armour strip is tied to the freeze effect. When I used Thermal Sunder, it kept stripping armour for it's duration. (I could be wrong though because I have very little experience in simulacrum.) AlyxisPrime
From what the wiki says, only Freeze affects Avalanche by extending (not refreshing) the armour reduction. It doesn't mention anything about cold procs, so I'm assuming Thermal Sunder won't have any effect. You could test it out to be sure though. continue
@AlyxisPrime Thermal Sunder has a mechanic that freezes enemies if they're already applied with cold. The only other ability with a freeze effect to my knowledge is Chilling Globe, which is designed to not freeze enemies that are already frozen (you can test this by freezing an enemy with avalanche and then pushing using one snowglobe to push them into another one towards the end of its duration), so it's a possibility that the armor strip is tied to the freeze effect. The wiki says "extends", but that's actually poor word choice. Casting an 8s Avalanche and a 15s Freeze results in the enemy being frozen for 15s. I tested this just now. I would test Thermal Sunder if I had a gauss in my helminth system. Everyone that I used to test this stuff with stopped playing this game a long time ago, sadly. continue
@AlyxisPrime I've gotten someone to help test in Simulacrum as well, and seemed to verify those results. I dumped duration to 4s on my Avalanche, and the armor strip persisted for longer after the Gauss cast Thermal Sunder (unless they cast it too early, since Avalanche has like a 1s delay before freezing). Thanks for your help!
