Railjack Command Rank 10

This thread is hilarious to look back on now, with all the great suggestions, where they could or should have gone with it.

Nope, just some notepad stats on to your crew. An extra 15% of the same!!!1

And we only waited 10 months or whatever for it

Those guys are already supremely useful, even on steel path. Their AI is much better, they do their jobs very well and I very much welcome greater versatility from them. The stat increases are perfect because you can already use them any where at any time as a valuable asset.

It seems okay, but I would have preferred to have the specialisation traits of the elite crewmembers baked into the existing systems and available as soon as the crew can be recruited. Rank 10 should have been something a bit more interesting.

When did they announce the command intrinsic? November?

I think the assumption was, it was going to be something special, something big, or, at least something new, since it took so long. Not to mention the amount of grind you have to do, to get to 10.

A stats increase is a 5 min notepad edit. If you ever edited an .ini file for a video game, that's the level of effort that went into it.

I mean I will give them a pass, if we find out down the road, they had to settle with some copy-pasted numbers in notepad, because they couldn't do what they really wanted.

Until then, threads such as this one speak volumes about players insight and creativity versus the developers.

Just a long list of all the things they didn't think of, lol. Or would it be better, if they did think of it, agreed it needed fixing, but didn't care enough to do anything?

What's that quote they love to spam around town for PR, 'building the game based on player feedback'.

Where is that community, asking for +7% crit chance for crewmates, out of all the problems that need fixing, around railjack, around intrinsicis or around crewmates or even throw in liches, I must have missed the memo.

Was it a youtuber campaign? A reddit post? The now famous twitch tipping war that started a demand for copy-pasted notepad edits?

Who wants new features or gameplay if we can have stats edits!!!1one

Given the Command Intrinsic path is intended to allow RailJack Solo mode.

I'll hope that rank 10 fixes the one worst barrier to Solo Play: having to warp between the Objective and Railjack constantly, being in two places at once.

Expose the radiator, warp

shoot the radiator, archwing back

expose the 2nd radiator, warp

shoot the raidator, archwing back

destroy the core

It's just Painful to do these objectives in Solo mode.

So maybe Rank 10 could be something like:

deployable Translocater Beacon (as seen in Index), to allow 2-way warping?

remote Railjack control, so You can shoot the radiators without returning?

enable smart NPC Crew, who can shoot those radiators for you?

Actually this is maybe almost the only way the pilot is now able to work well enough / is significantly improved (I think in 30.3 patch). It WILL do the railjack's crew work in that mission regard!

For example, a pilot/gunner could be temporarily used as a pilot for that if you are already outside the railjack and want to set it to pilot and then later back to gunnery as applicable. It's still not generally good to use the pilot while you still in railjack, since:

Sadly the pilot is still not suitable for use while you want to go into slingshot or forward artillery (unlike what which was said in patch notes, this was not fully fixed/changed, but pilot behaviour did improve) or if you want to go into a specific direction or distance, off course.

In short, the pilot is newly able to manuovre like you described - including shooting the radiators, (it works!) but off course might risk the ship itself that way, and is limited/still bothering in other ways.

A supplementary note: I haven't checked volatile mission though but assuming it still can't use the front artillery by itself for the weakpoints (or at all), only manuovring toward those etc. (also as noted the dome charge part is tricky as the pilot was not fully fixed for all situation so don't assume it would full stop if you enter front artillery yourself, even when allegedly "needed", or as said, if you try to slingshot)

Player feedback INCLUDED what was used in Command 10. Don't get mad because DE chose the one you don't like. They still chose a player requested feature. In fact, this was one of my top three adds considering the AI crew is already very well done. They fulfill their roles better than 95% of the pub teammates, don't demand they fly your ship, don't have issues returning control, are very good at aiming, super efficient at repairing the ship, very good at defending the ship, able to equip our weapons, are interchangeable, can join us on any mission AND be useful in that mission, can be improved, have personalities, stories to tell, give a reason to watch your syndicate standing a little more and, with command 10, can be stat higher for even FURTHER functionality.

That is a long list of fantastic additions to the game off of a single intrinsic system. If those "notepad edits" provide optimal value for a great system, then I don't care if it's by freaking crayon and cardboard, I love the addition! Now, if player A loves it and player B doesn't, then that means congratulations on yet another, and always, subjective update.

They already do this, they just only do it if their route along the ship takes them to a downed crewmember.

That's the point though, right,

It isn't a feature, it's the lack of.

It is not an addition, it's just a notepad edit, of what was already there. That's my whole point I've been trying to make.

On top, I don't know why it should require you go grind to 10, to get to buy more of the same but with notepad edits.

Couldn't they just add more crewmates to buy, you are still having to pay for them anyway.

And I'd love to see the post where you ask for notepad editing of stats as a level 10 reward - though ambivalent about it, I don't know which would be worst, lying about it to kiss up, or actually asking them to not add something new.

No, I'm not going to dig up a post for you. Sending emails is an option too. Lastly, a stronger stat increase is a great upgrade. What do you think a prime is?

Well, it's better you are lying to defend the developers, than actually believing what you've been saying.

Similarly, bringing up primes is just as ludicrous and just as fake.

I'd list the 538 things wrong with that argument but now you admitted to lying about the other stuff, how can we trust anything you say?

So to wrap it up, I don't think you believe any of the things you said, you are just out here white knighting, which you feel releases you from the obligation of having to make a point or having to be honest.

But then how can we have debate, if you aren't debating? Too arrogant to show up for debate, thinking you don't even have to carry your own weight.

It's okay to be amoral so long as it's in the service of good, against those evil complainers, they aren't real people anyway right?

But up on your high horse, you forgot you aren't out here helping anyone. You sabotage the game, it loses money, it hurts the developers.

So even your white knight crusade is fake too, which is what happens when you don't stop to think things through, or is held responsible for the actual points.

Things turn into fantasy, make-believe, post rationalize, whatever you need to tell yourself.

You gotta go way back now, to square one, do some soul searching, start by dealing with the loneliness that made you seek out a fantasy friendship with the developers, maybe get a dog, reconstruct the entire process of the order of your thinking.

Maybe do an introductional course on argument analysis philosophy, points, arguments and evidence first, validity second and conclusion last. Learn to actually build an argument and have a conversation, and thinking things through.

lol, well if people actually read my posts, that's more than I expected.

I can of course only bring up the reality of the points, unless you expect me to remote desktop people's lives for them.

I don't know how much responsibility you think it's fair to put on me but I guess I will take it as a compliment.

That's weird, I thought the NPC pilot destroyed targets? I could've sworn I relied on the NPC to take out a reactor (I don't use them much since I play with my partner), but I'll have to go double-check now

You two were making fair points until your last post. The sudden transition into personal attacks is something I've usually seen when someone has lost a debate but goes down swinging, trying to cut the other guy as much as they themselves had been cut (because sometimes people think it's "I'm debating with the enemy").

I could be wrong, of course. But it was a pretty aggressive post

It's a tricky conversation, sure.

If people are having problems and with the nature of the internet and all the flaming, it's not easy ground to tread and I don't do it lightly or casually.

Where if you will notice mostly everything I wrote was in the shape of advice, which is how you can tell the difference.

At the same time, when the guy is admitting to making things up, being fake, I do also hold people accountable, which might seem harsh but actually helps people.

I also feel lonliness is for everyone, quite natural, and then can't be personal. It's said in the context of "being biased as a white knight", if there is no rational argument, then it's probably irrational.

The whole twitch tipping war and the whole neckbeard scene, could be argued as being a support group for people who are lonely. You could also argue, it's normal and healthy to seek out social contact, and online culture provides a platform for people who might not have had any.

Support dogs has been around for some time, even in different variations including for blind people, and is straight one of the best advices you can give.

It's your point of view that should be taken as an insult, I'd say no one is a machine, I expect everyone to have emotional struggles in life, we all have a breaking point - just in this here situation of a forum debate, you just need enough of a professional ability to set yourself apart from your own bias for the debate.

My bias for example, which you could call guilty until proven innocent, is living through the entire history of the gaming industry, all the crappy things and terrible stories coming out, from swg nge, to microtransactions, to being banned for debating gameplay you don't like, as an industry standard for 40 years.

Cyberpunk recently, GTA 5, fallout 76, anthem exp throttle, I mean don't even get me started. What was the game ubisoft copied code from a cracked exe into the game? If you want to hear an old man rant, we can talk about the gaming industry lol.

So before the debate even starts, I am suspectful, mistrusting and always looking for their angle, their scam, the PR spin and so on. History as a teacher, the cultivated norm as an industry standard, makes me biased.

But I know I am, so I will hear the point, all points, and I am always ready to conclude against my bias, if the points are there.

But - how can I debate, if the other guy is both lying and not bringing up any points?

Again, you think too much of me, I can't reshape the universe by force of will, some responsibility has to fall on the other party to bring something into the debate.

Minimum an argument they believe in, is that so much to ask?

Then if they are unable to function in a debate, you take a step down and try to explain debating to them, where sure as to your point then I am assuming some responsbility for them, taking them under my wing or whatever.

Part of that whole learning experience is also about respect and integrity, you are not owed respect 'to avoid being offended', it's earned because again accountability.

You just lower the bar the more you baby people.

With the last few hotfixes: yes.

There are still some issues, like: the pilot is trying to hit the target when its on the other side of the station/ship and doesnt move around to make it be in its LoS and pilot stands in place because it cant decide which target to go first.

I tested this with two pilots at different skill levels to see if it made a change. The higher leveled pilot did hit the radiators automatically but I didn't have enough time to build at least a 10 each test. I'll try again this weekend but, so far, the level 2 pilot was 0-2 and the level 5 pilot was 2-2. I honestly didn't realize that was updated until I heard Cy announce a radiator was destroyed...a pleasant surprise! 😂

It was no longer a discussion. "White knighting" and requesting material, within the same context, meant that the conversation shifted into endless mode. It becomes entertainment for a party of one but losses the overall purpose and meaning for everyone else. Whether it was them trolling or not or me being incorrect or not, the productivity ended and, for that, I yield and they win.

What will it be?

I hope it's not just another skill point.

Maybe makes all your crewmates have 1 extra rank in everything?

Or, maybe you can remove three of their starting points and reassign them to what you want?
(I want this)

Perhaps, extra Crew slots for Solo play?
4 extra crew slots for solo play,
so you can have a full team.
1 Pilot, 2 Gunners, 2 Engineer, 2 Defenders.

Maybe let you use your Specters as Crewmates?
(how would that work? dum idea)

~

Whatever it is, the new Railjack setup is pretty cool,
but can be slightly annoying.
Some AI improvements would be nice.
Like, Crew shooting exposed radiators.
(so you don't have to exit the building, shoot it, enter then building, open the next radiator, exit, shoot ect)
Being able to revive each other.
(so you don't have to stop whatever you are doing to revive your Engineer, or whoever gets downed)
(so far only mu Engineer has gone down, 5 Repair, 3 Endurance)

~

You want a game to play for you isnt?

I basically had 3 things I was hoping for.

1. No cooldown on crewmates or very little, based on the premise we already have constant uptime specters and them wanting people to invested into their crew and railjack.

I don't remember the last time I saw someone spawn a crewmate during a mission. It's funny they go to all that trouble building up a system, then slap a cooldown on that invalidates the whole thing. If people can't use it... they won't. I mean, it's elementary.

2. Using mechs on all or at least most maps, similar to the orphix event, where you can freely respawn to them, so it wouldn't matter if they got stuck or didn't fit in some pipe.

3. Something totally new no one thought of yet because they are after all "creative" designers, lol.

But yeah I read all suggestions and I thought all of them sounded good, I wouldn't have had any complaints, if it had been any of the player suggestions. Those were all meaningful additions I think people would have enjoyed.

Like the one with spawning your lich as crew I thought was really good thinking, especially if you want people to get invested in the lich system.

Because it usually slips from your mind.

It happens to me when I'm doing RJ Missions with my Mech, it happens when I'm doing normal missions and I dont call my Archgun, it happens when I'm going for Sithmaris targets and forget that I have the trap...

This happened a lot during Steel Path runs when I'm testing which weapons do decent there and find that "No, this  wont do..." and I try to power through and... "Oh right, my Archgun and Crew..."
