Gameoverman Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 I want a prod vandal. :c you could always just put the electric element on the plasma sword and have the same effect
theGreatZamboni Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) Maybe next time, they will execute a similar event better. Cut them some slack...it was their first time trying to do such an event. This is not just about this event. There is a great deal of contention surrounding it, for good reason, but it has to do with why the event failed so hard. Why it failed, was because DE refused to put forth any effort, in any facet, on any front. They refuse to meet us halfway, let alone a quarter of it. There has been zero improvement of communication. There have been no improvements to the core of the game. There has been no effort to expand the lore. There has been no effort put forth to create compelling experiences for the player. There has been no effort to alleviate the strain and malice shown towards new players. This event has highlighted all the issues people have voiced extensively and repeatedly in numerous ways. It showcased the horrid enemy spawning and A.I. The lack of variety in the gameplay. The dishonestly of DE, the attempts to game a system meant to create choice. The shallow, almost not existent lore; so now when they attempted to create an event around it, it fell apart. The overabundance and uselessness of materials has now been pushed to a new height. I now have 800+ control modules, 400,000 alloy plate, 300,000 rubedo and much, much more. This event has been a mangled, exhausting and alienating experience for new and old players alike. This entire event exacerbates everything that is wrong with this game to a degree which is almost comical. It's almost as if they are saying "You think things are bad? You haven't seen anything yet." I really enjoyed the part where I did the extermination mission, on the same maps I play constantly, with a slight variation to the tilesets, that once again do nothing to promote unique gameplay. That was a really great time, all for 4 weapons. Something, which again has been voiced to be an issue in and of itself. The focus on releasing content vs. making a game that is worthwhile to play. It has been stated that you cannot just have the art/modeling/animation teams sitting around, which is obvious. So release weapons and Warframes, but make sure they are not the focus. The focus should be on gameplay and design, not content. I will say it again. It does not matter if you have 1000 weapons and 300 Warframes, if your game is boring to play. If you do not create unique and compelling experience for the player, they will leave en masse. Gameoverman Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 I'm trying to run a poll zamboni :(
SnaleKing Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 What are better options? Yes, Very Good, Perfect, Too Perfect? Sounds like "Gradivus Dilemma: Great Event, or Greatest Event?" Maybe... some of us didn't totally like it? Interesting results on the poll. Mmmmm statistics. Kind of makes we want to make one about Corpus supporters wanting the Detron.
webkilla Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I think we can all agree that this event could have been handled better IMO it could almost all have been handled via a few new unique Lotus voice-clips, while still using the same notion of "invasion" type missions... Except ...it wouldn't just all be Exterminate missions - it should have been random: "Tenno, this ship is supplying [faction you're opposing] with weapons, destroy its reactor to take it out" "Tenno, this ship is supplying [faction you're opposing] with weapons, reroute it to [faction you're supporting" "Tenno, [faction you're opposing] has intercepted vital [faction you're aiding] communications. Capture their intelligence officer to plug the leak" "Tenno, Corpus has activated one of the cryo-pods and taken the inhabitant captive. Rescue the captive" - which could lead to... "Change of plans. The ship has been boarded by the Grineer. Wipe them out" and so on... that way there'd have been some genuine variation. Some of the missions could be interupted or extended with the usual exterminate-style boarding missions
nekrojiji Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) Poll seems pretty fair. A yes, a no, a 'meh' and a 'yes and no.' All bases seem covered. yes but people might not read after: good idea. The execution is perfect in my opinion. We get resourses, and at the end we get 2 weapons(the melee ones...... let's forget about the melee ones). More, they made it posible for clanless players to get ignis or flux rifle. So yes it's a good event. and the poll is kinda biased towards hatred. You guys complain about Corpus being weaker than Grineer. What did you expect?! Grineer are a military society where Corpus are traders. Edited October 30, 2013 by nekrojiji

Also how can you say having only one mission type to run in same 2 tiles is perfect?

theGreatZamboni Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Rhino blossoming in to womanhood? Timely since the Carrie remake just came out.
Lefticus Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I think the idea behind the event was good but the execution could have used some work. First and foremost, I don't think that giving rewards only to the "winning" side was a good move. It's bred a lot of ill will on the forums and ingame where an event should be fun, first and foremost. Picking a side should be a question of which faction you support, not of which side you expect to win. The speculation game really threw this event into a snowball right off the bat. The per-planet rewards were also a bad idea, nice as they were to earn. Maybe if the rewards were given every five or ten wins regardless of where you fought, it would have encouraged players not to just run a planet five times and ditch it but to actually dig their heels in and drag out the fights. It's a bit of a minor thing but I would actually have liked the Defense side to play a bit different from the Invasion, maybe requiring us to defend all of those friendly NPCs from waves of attackers and failing the mission if we let too many die.The missions really did start to blend together after the sixtieth one and the event could have used some more variety in the maps and objectives.
