(PSN)ELTETMU
It's the same thing. Get 100,000 Kuva, blow it all in 3 minutes and end up with a S#&$ty Riven like always. Rivens aren't like crafting a piece of gears stats to be better by obtaining certain stats through hard work/missions etc... It's just gambling. That's all it is. I don't know if anyone here has played Nioh but the way you could forge gear had a sense of achievement. The Riven system is utter trash. Why is there not a way to lock in certain stats? Or am I just the odd man out on this?
UUDDLRLRBA_START
I would like it if after rolling a riven 999 times, it will re-veil and you lose everything.
Berzerkules
I'm kind of split on the idea. Making it so you could lock in multiple stats and just roll one would be too good. If you could just lock in a single stat it would only be slightly better than the system we have now. I doubt DE will change riven so you can lock stats but if they do those rivens should also be bound to account. For now I'll just keep rolling rivens for weapons I really like and if I get tired of rolling I throw plat at the problem.
16Bitman
It's a great idea that many people would love, they could even create a new type of kuva, like the one they mentioned in grandmas halloween story, to lock stats and require you to farm something new instead of using your old stockpiles. But the Devteam HATES the idea and gets annoyed if someone just asks them about them as seen in this devstream, so don't expect it this decade. Dhrekr
Oh, it's this old idea. Again. It's not going to happen. DE makes money from it. A small number of people obtain perfect stats and sell their rivens as "Godlike" and other people have to buy plats to buy those rivens. Plus, people have to play in order to get the Kuva, which is always good for DE. They made a grindy game, and they want us to grind, and by golly, they'll keep us grinding with every mean they have. I'm not going to tell you what to do and how to feel. However, here's how I feel about Rivens: I'm not letting them decide my life. For me a Riven is good when it is better than a mod I'd otherwise use. So, if in a build I'd use a +110% heat damage, and I roll a Riven that gives me +127% heat damage AND 61% critical chance, then it makes my build stronger, and therefore it is a good Riven. Is it a god Riven? No. P*ss on that very concept. I am not letting the game steal hours of my live in the vain research of the perfect combination of Damage/CD/CC/Multishot that hasa 0.001% chance of appearing on a reroll. Teridax68
Locking Riven stats I think is one of those many aspects of Riven mods that highlights the conflict of interest they represent for players and developers: on the player side, being able to lock stats would be very convenient, as we'd get a measure of control over our rolls, and so wouldn't be doomed to getting crap stat combinations virtually all of the time, just most of the time. On the developer side, however, the scarcity of good Rivens is important because that's what allows them to sell for the highest possible amount of Platinum, and if players were allowed to have more good or even just decent Riven mods, the player economy around them would deflate. It is thus pretty much impossible to change Riven mods into a system players would genuinely enjoy without harming the cash flow that comes from it, which is one of the reasons why I hate Rivens. This is why we'll get Riven ciphers to bypass the only bit of gameplay tied to them, and unveil them quicker, but will likely never get a gear item for locking stats or the like. (PSN)ELTETMU
Thanks for the thoughts and ideas on the matter from everyone I appreciate it. I still don't agree with the system but understand better why it is how it is. It's an ongoing game that needs resources to keep the engine burning. I guess those are the breaks. Squick
I think they should do it, but every locked stat makes the roll exponentially more expensive. That way you can keep some progression without being able to flood the market with perfect rivens. One locked stat? 2x cost. Two locked stats? 4x cost. 3 locked stats? Hope you like blowing 80k kuva every reroll.
