Relic System Sucks And It's Boring

 Share

Recommended Posts

The relic system is so boring that it's actually hilarious.

First you need to get the relics, then you need to do so many pointless missions in order to get void traces. Then you upgrade it and probably don't get the rare item that you wanted. I once did 13 missions (together with 2 and a half hour of Lith relic missions because i didn't have any traces) with the Axi A7 relic. All radiant of course. The Axi A7 relic was vaulted when i did it so the relics sold for quite well. My goal was to get Ash Prime Systems which sold for around 100 plat. From all those 13 relics i didn't even get A SINGLE silver item. So selling the A7 relics would have MORE THAN DOUBLED my potential profit from one Ash Prime Systems.

I got extremly frustrated since it could have been my best trades ever to that point. Later i did a Meso mission with an intact relic and got a rare. The chances to get a rare from an inctact relic is 2% and from a radiant relic 10%. Rng should exist but when it's this scaled and plat is such an important resource since it depend a lot of how much further you can progress in the game it's so boring and terrible that it is like i said "actually hilarious".

My wish is that they make it funnier and better (maybe not easier) to get void traces. Then perhaps double or triple the prices to upgrade the relic but then locking in and guaranteeing the item that you want. Then vaulting stuff more often so that prices on prime parts doesn't drop tremendously. Thanks...

I'm on your site but this is just luck. Once a while you get lucky. That's fine.

That's cute (little joke but I'm on your site).

I've done (part of it was to get a part and part of it was to check how many relics I should open) 26 radiant relics to get all common & forma blueprints (uncommon forma). 27th radiant was rare as fair I remember.

Doing it solo (probably what you are doing) is PAINFUL. It's even bigger joke when there is uncommon forma. I'm all for locking stuffs for higher price (more Void traces).

Fun fact: because of how probability works your 13 radiant relics still had a ~25% chance to not produce any golds.  A 1 in 4 chance.  Which is a pretty significant chance.

Seems like you just didnt got the result you wanted from an RNG system and got angry about it. Which is understandable. I effectively had to purchase the last pieces for latest primes, unable to get them naturally.

But this system is faaaaaar prefferable to what we had. The old void-only key system was horrible and i now forever have a disgusts for void tilesets, defense especially.
The new system is flexible and allows for both casual in-and-out public matchmaking as well as precise grinding via rad-share parties.

In fact, radshare parties seems to be how the system should be used, if you intend to actually get a particular piece of gear, rares especially.
Of course, it doesn't always work either, since the chance of failure is still about 60%, but its better than 90%.

Of course, relying on relic system as a stable source of platinum income is a bad idea. Just no. This is like trying to have an income by going to casinos.
Grind casually, don't waste plat on relics, be happy that you got any rares at all. Every half-a-year or so i go on a selling spree by liquidating my wast stockpiles of random prime stuff by simply scanning trading chat for "WTB" messages and selling people what they need. A little banter, usually minimum possible price, but its better than nothing.

As it stands, i don't see how the current system could be improved. The very least - we could use extra refining levels to have even better chances, but with even higher reactant cost. I would happily pay a 1000 reactants to get a relic to 99% drop chance.

Yeah with all 13, but then i need 13 to begin with, which took me some time to. But then i'm just wondering how high is the chance of getting at least a silver?

Wow that old system sounded a lot worse. Well i agree that it doesn't need to be completely changed but some refinement would be nice. Why i base my plat income from prime parts is because i'm kind of too low MR to really get plat the most effective ways. That's why i spend so much time getting relics then upgrading them. However my plans when when somethings gets vaulted is to radshare. But i took some time off the game and when i came back i couldn't find any parties with the relics that had Ash Prime Systems since they were "too old"...

And that's why these 13 relics and sometimes other relics are a big deal for me.

Looks like exactly that. And not the first time we see it as well.

As with everything in warframe, people need to take their sweet time.

There's a new shiny prime frame that you want? Put it on top of your list and farm for it two or three times a day. Then move on to the next thing on your list. Keep doing the list until you get what you want, then update the list. Farming just one thing for excessive hours always burn tennos out.

People who rush things in warframe always face the biggest disappointment. That's why we still see rant threads about khora, wisp, ivara, necramechs, even the foundry.

Chance to get at least one silver or higher would be ~99.99%.  Not even kidding.  That's actually what it works out to.

I agree, it takes way too long to get there just to be defeated by forma blueprints.

welcome to Warframe where RNG is not just a mechanic in the game, it is its base.

This type of threads would be hilarious if they weren't boring and stupid.

Please keep your half baked 'ideas' to yourself.

But instead of being angry why even reply then? I'm not smart and if you don't like my ideas then why wont you try to improve them perhaps?

There's a lot of people who doesn't agree with what i said and i'm completely fine with that. I'm all for opinions i mean this thread is based on my opinion anyways. But some poeple can't take opinions for some reason, even defending everything that DE has done, even the launch of Railjack. DE isn't perfect. I like DE a lot. But what game company has ever been perfect? What game company doesn't have pros and cons? Do i expect them to be? No. But can i ask for improvements even though i'm not smart enough to come up with ideas? Of course. These forums wouldn't exist if opinions didn't...

The best way to play warframe, is usually by not playing it, in the way it is set up.

Most grinds and features have traps and rabbit holes, to try and trap professional grinders. Which is to say, it's assumed you are a power grinder and you read up on everything, before you play.

In the case of individual prime parts, the trap is thinking you should go farm a map for rare relics, build up stacks of 20 or 30, and then go farm the void traces.

That's tunnel vision. What you need to always think is time vs plat.

Doing any random relic mission, you will always get something - even ducat trash items, you can load up on for baro. Then every 2 weeks you load up on baro weapons, then sit on them until they go up in price again.

You could probably grind for an hour, without seeing a rare relic. Even if you got a rare, you still don't get anything special - that you wouldn't have gotten anyway just starting a random relic mission.

How many capture relic missions could you have blasted during 60 minutes?

Time vs plat. And that's the mentality you should have with all content, what do I get the most out of, the fastest and then read up. You noticed yourself it would have been better to just sell the relics, that's exactly how you need to make decisions in the game.

You don't just start grinding something on good faith, thinking the game is going to be fair, lol.

The exception to the rule is with the lost relics, such as the loki ones. Then you could think about grinding for them.

Ive tried to get Gara chassis with randoms throwing bunch of radiant relics and then stumbled upon a squad we chatted a lot and we opened a ton of radiant and intact, made a friend got the part finally.

Another case, stupid limbo systems I couldnt get and like 6 months later got it from a totally random fissure.

Its just luck and mostly patience, made wonderful friends and and met cheerful people along the way. Dont give up but dont burn out either.

At this point i think i've learned my lesson. Think before actions which usually isn't my strongest suits.

Best advice I can give to anyone playing warframe is read up on everything. At this point if you want to build something like xaku, it isn't "just 4 materials", the trap there is having to grind out 2 entire planets to get access to the actual materials. Obviously hoping people wouldn't notice.

So you really need to read every line of text, watch youtube videos and look up every single crafting material, before you decide if you want to grind it.

In your case it sounds like you might benefit from reading up on general ways to earn plat while playing, such as working up faction standing.

Yeah i'm feeling kinda stranded with getting plat from prime parts. But i'm all for tips how to get plat any other way. Doesn't really need to be more profitable but just a tat bit more reliable perhaps.
