(NSW)Chrism919 Posted July 25, 2021 Share Posted July 25, 2021 The Duviri Paradox was revealed in 2019, and I've been wondering if they simply stopped working on it, if it's still delayed due to covid, or if they have shared any information on it in any way (twitter, devstreams, slip ups during home time, etc.). Loza03 Posted July 25, 2021 Share Posted July 25, 2021 Most likely, it's less a case of 'they're not working on it' and more 'Hoooly we revealed this way too early'. DE got real ambitious trying to chase the 2017 Plains of Eidolon Tennocon high. Each one was trying to one-up each other. 2018's wasn't just NEXT OPEN WORLD FOUR TIMES BIGGER it was also RAILJACK, both of which weren't anywhere near done and the whole thing was smoke and mirrors, especially Railjack. Then 2019 was YO HOW ABOUT THE NEW WAR WITH AN ACTUAL TRAILER, AND RAILJACK FOR REALS THIS IS DEFINITELY HOW IT'S GONNA BE WE'RE NOT STILL IN CONCEPT TESTING GUYS, AND CHECK IT OUT, THAT KINGPIN SYSTEM WHICH IS THE NEMESIS SYSTEM YOU GUYS and, of course YO GUYS CHECK IT OUT ADULT OPERATORS IN THE VOID WITH THE ZARIMAN TEN ZERO AND TIME TRAVEL AND SKELETON HORSES. Needless to say DE almost immediately got overwhelmed. To be honest, DE got overwhelmed with 2018's Tennocon, trying to pull double duty with a massive open area AND Railjack at the same time, and I think 2019's was an attempt at damage control since 2018 had been a huge year for "content drought" leading up to Fortuna. 2019 in general saw a lot of different updates, but most at least somewhat half-baked. Jovian Concord had a buggy boss, Kuva Liches were literally nothing like what was shown off because DE tested the concept in gameplay for 0.1 milliseconds and then realised grinding for over a month to get a new gun was literal insanity and... well the less said about Railjack's state at launch, the better. DE basically shot themselves in the foot with all the spectacle creep. Which is why when they revealed the Heart of Deimos, not only was it the smallest open world to date, it was also almost done, and the only thing they were revealing that year. Likewise it seems they've done that with the New War, since as they said, they've actually shown off a portion of what the live quest is going to be. New war was supossed to launch on 2019 xmas, so forgot about the dates and has been 2 years with they focused on "show what is close to ship" mentallity both on marketing and also devstreams, most likely toa void the mega backlash they suffered for railajck release. Just because the name is cool. No, it's a cryptic trailer containing skeleton horse and adult human. They're always trying to change up the gameplay. In necramechs, you're not the crazy bullet jumping parkour cyborg anymore. You're a slow tanky robot. In previous rj, you're supposed to be a star trek captain leading a team that cooperates to fire turrets, do ground missions, and top up supplies. Some people are excited about duviri because they're hoping that it will allow us to literally grow out of the stupid kidmode and its stupid skilltrees. And since they adopted the "stay silent until its near completion" (because showing demo concepts tend to backfire in this community because "where is it? Where is it? Where is it? Where is it? Why do you slap us in the face with your ding-dong DE? WHERE IS IT!?" that happened every single time without fail), they wont mention ANYTHING at all about Duviri or any new projects that come after until its nearly ready to ship. And here you are, asking for it. New War and Duviri will be the LAST things they will ever release teasers about that are in the proof on concetp stage. Thanks Obama. It's only a big deal because it's taking place after the conclusion of The New War, from what we know so far, and it's HOPEFULLY going to add a bunch of story, which would be insane, considering the fact that all we know of right now is the whole Lotus storyline with a few other missions and the man in the wall Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
