Have you considered maybe the exergis IS a pistol? The spirex had a prototype.

Spirex is nothing like Exergis though... Why compare them?

i might interject that we assume in the Frame is the Electronics and Magnets or w/e needed to focus the exploding Crystal forwards, so that this can be used as a Projectile Weapon, rather than a Pipebomb with a Handle.

When you figure out the difference between design intent/use and stats, hit me up.

How dare you disturb the dancing poodle. Let it live its meme-life in peace, good sir!!

...Isn't most of the frame likely there for Recoil Compensation?

I'd imagine a Warframe could fire a pistol version, but a pistol version of that would likely break the average Corpus footsoldier's arm.

You and me both, brother.

Exergis is one of my favorite weapons but has always broken my heart a bit in terms of its effectiveness late game despite the giant arsenal stats.

You forgot about crystal liquid cartridge (cylinder below the handle) and the pump system + tech needed to form the crystal.

Pumping btw is done manually and requires decent amount of force, as even Frames struggle to pump it.   It would be much faster with a lever tbh.
