Theplayer393
When you're playing solo survival in Steel Path, the amount of enemies you kill doesn't help in maintaining the life support at all ! That's annoying ! until and unless you have a good Nekros or a farming frame, no other frame can be used to stay solo in survival ! Either do one of these DE : 1) Slow down the life support falling down to 0 in a flash. 2) Increase the drop chance of life support modules from fallen enemies. PLZ DE ... CHANGE THIS ASAP !!! (PSN)iuvenilis
Steel path has maximum spawn rate. You don't need loot frames. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, your build/s need some work.
TaricTheAncient
Yeah i do fine with Excalibur solo though it takes a bit of hopping around.
DarkSkysz
Never had problems with Octavia... I can go afk for 2 minutes, move a few steps and go afk 2 minutes again...
Birdframe_Prime
Yeah... I'm really sorry, OP, but I'm joining with the other players here. Because of the high Spawn Rate, the Life Support is actually extremely high compared to other modes in the game. But the caveat on that is it's high... If you are killing at the same speed on Steel Path as you are on non-Steel Path. That's why the other players say you need to check your builds. Warframe power creep is such that, with the right builds, you really can kill enemies on Steel Path at the same speed as on regular Star Chart. At least comparatively. You may not one-shot as easily, but it can be done, and with the right setup you can even go for hours in Survival without a Loot Frame and be able to waste a bit of time killing Acolytes and the drop rate of Life Support can build you back up to maintaining above 90% from below 50%. I'm not saying this in a vacuum, though, I've tested. For example, I have this: Spoiler Which is a run I did after the update to Zephyr to see what her new ability updates could do. This was on Ani in the Void, too, so about average for Steel Path levels. I just like the aesthetic there. I was solo, so no loot frame, and this is vanilla Zephyr (although with the Jet Stream augment) with the Djinn sentinel (no Kavatt either). And you'll have to take my word for this, because I did not activate a single Life Support tower the entire run. I just put down Tornado, sucked enemies into it with Air Burst, and shot Tornado while enemies couldn't get me through Turbulence. It was actually quite zen by the end, I had listened to a lot of audio. Point is... Right builds and right camping spots in Survival are all you need. Steel Path is, mechanically, the exact same as regular Star Chart, with the exception of the Acolytes. Life Support drops are genuinely enough to get you through, as long as you're actually able to kill the enemies efficiently.
Joezone619
I agree 100%. survival is made with the idea that players will be 1-shotting everything... steel path is made with the idea that the player will not. Steel path survival should have changes to fix this conflict of development.
Theplayer393
@Birdframe_Prime Umm okay consider this scenario I made 2k kills in 25 minutes. After that the spawn rate decreased and I had to extract no other option. Even when I was playing with a full squad, without a nekros we didn't last 30 minutes. We were basically standing right there ... I was using vauban's vortex + Tonkor to nuke the entire room ! So killing enemies isn't a problem 🤷🏻♂️ prolly some bug in my PC ?! After that the spawn rate decreased and I had to extract no other option. Let's see, there's a few reasons that this could be. For one, the enemy pathing is actually semi-aware of abilities like Vortex (and Tornado), if they have a line-of-sight to you, enemies will frequently stop outside of the range of the ability. For another, if there's Ancient Healers in the mission, they can be picking up things like Radiation procs and slowing down the enemies because they become targets for the enemy instead of you. Outside of that, if you were doing nothing but point-and-shoot at a Vortex for 25 minutes, the AFK system might have kicked in. I'm not sure what to tell you, my friend, I have multiple runs of Steel Path, solo, with non-loot frames like Baruuk and Zephyr, that have gone to the full hour, or until I'm bored, whichever is longer, and I have never had to use the Life Support Towers to do so. I can even show you screen shots of the end-of-mission screen if you need.

Seconding - I have done multiple solo runs, up to a maximum individual run length of 2h40m, using perma-Hysteria Valkyr in SP Void survival, and hardly touched life support columns. If spawn rates decrease, I'd have to say it's either poor pathing (which is janky - unfortunately you'll need to find decent rooms to allow enemies to keep flowing in at sufficient rates), or some form of poor kill rates. If it's the latter, @Theplayer393, it could be your build, or it could be something like Nullifiers and Ancients getting in the way (depending what you're using to do most of your killing). If you want, you can try posting your build and we could see if there's any way to help there, or you can look up guides on choosing rooms. Also for some reason, when I play Zephyr + sporelacer nuke the life support drops even faster 🥲 gotta figure out something it's not that I'm not killing enemies km one shotting everything with sporelacer ... Something needs to be changed prolly my PC 🙆🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😂

Birdframe_Prime
17 hours ago, Theplayer393 said: Woah tell me more about this AFK system pls I'm desperately waiting to do solo survival runs again This one is the least likely function to consider. But I'll explain it for you; If you do not move more than 5 in-game meters for more than 2 minutes, even if you are killing enemies via abilities or weapons, a system kicks in to prevent you from being rewarded for going AFK. This also kicks in if you die and don't self-revive for 2 minutes as well. The consequences of the system labelling you AFK are: All Affinity and Energy gain are halted until you resume moving, all companions (including specters, Wukong's twin and Excal Umbra) will stop moving and attacking, and functions that are companion-based like Ghost, Vacuum and so on are deactivated too. Basically your progress is paused until you start actually doing things again. But people that have experimented with this system (namely people trying to bypass it) have also noted that certain spawned enemies will start to not approach you. So enemies like Ancients (that are usually slow moving) or ranged units will stop or seem to be in the 'unaware' state, but charger/melee units will still run for you. This may be a contributing factor. However... It may be that you could benefit from some more specific long-run Survival tactics. Things like Spawn manipulation, camping locations, ability combos to mod for vs ones to ignore, plus how weapons are performing a lot better after recent updates. Since the Steel Path updates, the tactics that my clan used back in 2014 to the end of the Key era are starting to become a little more relevant for farming Steel Essence. If you want, I would be happy to help you out with the kind of tactic that can allow for longer Solo runs.
RanmaCanada
Everyone who keeps telling players "You aren't killing enough" are full of it. Life Support and everything else just stops dropping after a certain point, and no Nekros, Khora or Hydroid can fix it. I've spent the last 2 weeks doing nothing but Dark Sector Steel Path, and I've literally had minutes where NOTHING would drop. No resources, no life support, no ammo, NOTHING, no matter what loot frame I am using and no matter if I run around like a crazy crack baby, or huddle in a corner camping.
