Starting Mission Feedback, new player confusion about the story

My friend just completed her first mission and she was slightly confused about the intro cinematic.

She thought that the girl in the intro cinematic was the Lotus and she said she looked homeless. After completing the mission she said "Wow, now she has this funky head piece and she doesn't look like a hobo anymore". I was trying to explain to her that those two are completely different characters but I failed (I didn't want to give out too many spoilers). 

She said that the voice over suggests that the girl is running from the soldiers to wake up the tenno, therefore Lotus and the homeless girl must be one and the same character.

So I guess its not as clear that the girl in the intro is "something" else :')
